How do I get my money back from a voucher that is not working????

Quick and easy to order. Great present idea.

Company in liquidation but director is active in yet other travel and non travel businesses. Closes them down after relatively short time. Speaks volumes!

Under some of these company names he ran hotel voucher shop, hotel hippo (closed down due to security issues - search on google), afternoon tea for two, hotel exclusives (still active) and hotelstayuk.

All this and I’m sure there are other companies he’s formed over time. All this and he’s only 41!

Have just discovered this company has gone into liquidation so where is the money we all spent??
I bought my neighbours a £100 voucher as an Xmas present.
Have just written to Simon Calder but think this needs further investigation as seems like an unlawful scam to me.
Should we let Actionfraud know?

I have had the same problem, you cannot redeem your voucher, they phone numbers are all invalid, I have even written to them with no response. I have just found this on their website of hotel voucher shop, hope this helps you get your money back, I have emailed them and am hoping too.

My reservation was cancelled, upon booking in for 3 nights, no email or confirmation of cancellation, hotel booked wont give the cancellation paperwork,
£265.63 out of pocket

As previous reviews... the hotel had no booking reservation under our name despite booking nearly a year ago. NO ability to contact the company. Not good.

I gave vouchers with hotel voucher and have tried on numerous occasions to redeem no matter what date or location nothing comes up. Have emailed and they have said website is under maintenance?! For over 3 weeks!!! It’s a shame as we have used this company twice before and never had a problem. Hopefully my father in law will get his money back, through his bank, as it was an Xmas gift. Also just looked on companies house and there accounts are over due in big red letters! Another company to bite the dust I think.

After numerous attempts finally managed to redeem voucher on 24th March 2019 for a one night stay in York - took a further 3 days to bombard them with emails to obtain the receipted certificate proving the booking. Grand and room was cancelled on the 5th May by booking Agent. Fortunately the Grand did have a room therefore

The payment for the vouchers was made by my daughter in law as a gift via her debit card. She contacted Lloyd's bank and thankfully this bank operates a charge back scheme and after taking the details, they refunded the money back into her account immediately. Well worth contacting your bank for help. Hope you all find this useful.

I suspect this company is in financial trouble. Like lots of others our hotel booking was cancelled by them 2 days before the check in date. It was done at 8 minutes past midnight which suggests an automated cancellation process. My guess is they have run out of cash to pay the hotels. Don’t use them. If you have a booking contact the hotel and verify it so you are not left like us arriving and finding we have no room. They don’t answer the phone either. Appalling. You are better booking direct or using an online booking company .

Hotel voucher your disgusting we had vouchers given us for a wedding gift tried to use them but looks like were not the only ones who have been ripped of .your disgusting leaving all these people without an answer to why.

Hotel Voucher Shop still waiting for reply from their customer service department....con men dont even deserve one star.

Shocking experience, a scam!! Tried many times to book anywhere!!!! site never working and when it is it then says checking for additional costs and doesn't work. emailed complaint and was fobbed off. Wrote and again fobbed off. Emailed a further time, this was ignored. Really bad company. DO NOT BUY VOUCHERS you will not be able to use them,.

Just travelled 200 miles to be told our room was cancelled 2 days prior and they have no rooms available!

Absolutely gutted for my daughter who spent £100 getting us a hotel voucher which we can't redeem, the website isn't working and after reading all the reviews it appears the company have gone into liquidation. Totally shocked to read other people's experiences and the amount of money they have lost too. Doubt there's anything we can do now but I'm going to try as I don't like anyone being ripped off!

My mum bought me £250 worth of vouchers for my birthday from Hotelvouchershop.com. On trying to redeem them the website was not working. Once it was up and running we went to book only to discover that we were being charged well over the standard tariff price for the rooms. In fact they wanted £700 for 2 rooms which would normally cost just over £200. We complained. Hotelvouchershop told us to book and then they would refund the difference. Feeling that they were trying to scam us out of even more money we refused and after several emails the company agreed to refund us the value of our vouchers. That was 5 weeks ago We have received nothing since. Absolutely furious that they have taken peoples hard earned cash knowing that they weren't going to honour their commitments.

Have been unable to use the voucher!!! Had a reservation for a hotel to use the voucher and paid additional money. On arrival the reservation (confirmed) was cancelled. Money gone and voucher.
No one picks up the phone, no one answers emails.
I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!!

Just to let people who used this scam of a company ..they are now in liquidation. But CEO Chris Orrell has other companies ie Hotel Exclusives/Travel Circus and few others. Be warned not to use these companies. Facebook page #paybackfaye has useful info on trying to get money back. 😠😠😠
