The representative was excellent but...

The representative was excellent. The problem was solved in very little time. The problem itself has happened 3 times. That along with double billing in the last cycle had me scrachting my head. I've been with hostmonster for over a decade and am disappointed with how easily their system can be broken. If they know there is an existing problem, why aren't they taking action to solve the recurring problem? I'm sticking with them for now but may consider moving on if the problems persist.

Lost services after software updates - Tech Support can't help and Sales doesn't know what I need to fix the problem

After company updated cPanel in their shared services I lost access to my calendar and contacts from phone and laptop. It took months for tech support to figure out what happened and finally I was told I need another account to start an unmanaged VPS and transfer all my services into that without their help. Tech Support and Sales has limited knowledge and it takes forever to get them to understand the problem.
After 15+ years with HostMonster and $600+/year in services, it looks like I have to change to other providers. :(

My experience today was very positive

My experience today was very positive. The support person not only answered all of my questions, but also helped me with renewing my service and was able to apply some discounts for being a long time customer. Super helpful and very courteous! I will recommend and continue to do business with Host Monster.

I've been with Host Monster for over 10…

I've been with Host Monster for over 10 years and counting. I love the consistency of quality service. Over the years everyone has been exceptional, knowledgeable and efficient. I could not be more pleased with my choice of site hosting service.

Don’t use them for email. Or anything. Ever. Their name is dead to me.

I would give NEGATIVE stars if I could.

I manage the website for a local dance studio. When I began in 2015, the entire domain + domain email were through hostmonster, and the website was a single image with an email link. All of this was done in the early 2000s, no big deal. I moved the domain to GoDaddy after a few years of manually updating the FTP client. My client’s email account stayed with hostmonster, no problems had. GoDaddy began giving us issues back in February, so we moved the website to Squarespace. Last week, I get notice from my client that she is unable to send responses to inquiry forms and is receiving mailerdaemon errors. No problem, I go to see if I should move the entire domain to Squarespace. I do that and suddenly her email stops being accessible. A few days later (today) it’s back up, but we can no longer send or receive emails. It’s just…there. I figured out that the MX record didn’t transfer over, so I contact hostmonster MULTIPLE times to obtain the MX record. Customer service informs me that I need to validate the email on file ending in hotmail.com so they can send an access code.

Here’s the problem: neither my client nor her husband, to their knowledge, has had a Hotmail account. Possibly ever.

So now we’ve been going through the wringer to verify ownership of the account. Customer service just says “sorry, we can’t help until the account is validated” and won’t even escalate to a supervisor. When I explain, they repeat the same steps to me as if I didn’t just tell them I’d already done it. At this point, we’re trying to close the hostmonster account and migrate the email address itself to google. I already downloaded the email data to my computer. But I never have received a reply from the ownership team. This is negatively impacting a business, and honestly I’M considering contacting the FCC or whoever I need to contact to inform them that hostmonster is scamming people. All because they likely haven’t updated their processes in over a decade if not longer, and they outsourced to people who clearly don’t care about the integrity of the company. I hope this company goes under as soon as possible, since the owner/CEO doesn’t seem to care if things are going well for the clientele. I am a web designer with some development experience and in all my years I have NEVER had problems this severe with a hosting service. Ridiculous.

Dealing with customer service or tech…

Dealing with customer service or tech people in 2023 is, as we all know, an experience in frustration. They are either too smart or too patronizing. BUT!! once in awhile you meet a man who is a true professional and that was the guy at Host Monster!! He was patient with me (I still use a pencil) and worked out all of my problems. I've been a client of Host Moster for about 15 years and that's why.
Keep up the GREAT work!!
