I don't know how hostmonster.com has high ratings here, unless the elimination of bad reviews is pay-to-play.
I have had my website broken (after multiple years of not daring to change the wordpress much because I need the site to function to make a living), and then each stage of customer service -- which is OFFSHORED IN THE PHILIPPINES now -- made the problem worse and worse.
This is an unacceptable business model for non-IT people in the US, i.e. the offshoring of CS. The Philippines in particular is the worse possible place for CS, because the technicians don't care to solve the problem as it exists, only to eliminate the need to fix it, and their ability level is limited not just by technical incompetency but and ESL-based inability to understand native speakers or retain information. Your horrible CS model inevitably eventually results in snowballing disaster and a mind-breaking experience trying to get Philippines phone support to communicate in a sane, clear, competent way. Want to be totally miserable? Get a hostmonster account.
My CS experience is of my website suddenly becoming uneditable, and every single step of technical "assistance" breaking the site worse and worse, to the point where I can't even log onto Wordpress at all, though I have done absolutely nothing and have been able to do absolutely nothing in weeks. Absolute misery.
US companies: don't offshore your technical support. Customers will inevitably leave, like me.

I manage 5 to 6 websites of one of my clients. All WordPress websites have been infected with malware for almost 1 month.
1) Install fresh copies of all the websites many times but again malicious files start to create. But the support is not willing to help and keeps saying that they cant do anything and i have to buy site lock to fix that.
2) Many times initiate host monster scan, and delete all the files mentioned in that but again same result.
3) Customer support has no solution and they only promote their product sitelock. Even twice the support representative misbehaved and disconnected.
4) I am now so fed up that we are planning to shift to some other host.

I have had tons of troubles with emails…
I have had tons of troubles with emails for over 8 years. I have spent no less than a hundred hours with support via phone, hold time and chats. Finally, the last two days, the emails have sporadically worked. I said SPORADICALLY. Today, everything was going along good for an hour, and now it has quit working. I have too many emails to change providers, unless someone can suggest a good changeover. They just plain suck.

I had a problem where gnu mailman was not deliverying emails. The support provided was substandard
The problems I have with hostmonster support are:
1) No one in the list above ever seemed to understand my problem despite providing many screen captures and problem details
2) There was no consistent support contact. Every email was answered by a different person
3) Reliance on what I call an "Email Script": assuming without facts that something is blacklisted, blocked due to spam scanners, using an unsupported software, or some sort of virus. No one seemed to really research and follow thru on the problem
4) No one bothered to check my other outstanding trouble tickets or they could have seen [S-2335069], nor did they ask about any other issues that could be related.
