Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 145 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Consumers frequently struggled with unhelpful customer service, experiencing prolonged wait times, unhelpful online support, and immense difficulty reaching knowledgeable representatives to resolve serious issues. Many buyers also encountered frustrating delivery delays, missing parts, and orders arriving damaged, incorrect, or completely delivered to the wrong address. Some reviewers were happy with the helpful and knowledgeable staff members who patiently assisted them with their purchases in-store. Though most customers faced major obstacles with orders, a few other people also felt that specific employees went above and beyond to solve their problems, offering diligent expertise, friendly guidance, and excellent customer care during difficult situations.

In the world of consumerism

In the world of consumerism, customers have the obligation to report good and bad services to keep large corporations in check. After a poor delivery experience with Home Depot, I was dumbfounded by their lack of customer service. Delivery agent made bogus suggestions on how to deal with unsuccessful installation which differed from customer rep recommendations. A total waste of time and money. They don’t have a clue about customer service. I would say i would not recommend their services, and I will never purchase from therm again.

Poor performance by marquee 1coat paintI have been buying marquee ONE COAT…

I have been buying marquee ONE COAT paint for years and was always willing to travel a couple hours to get this product BUT this last can of paint was TWO-THREE COATS to get a decent coat. I can appreciate the fact that if the previous paint was a dark color it wouldn’t cover as well(can’t expect miracles) but my previous paint was silver mist. (A light grey). I can’t honestly recommend your product if this is what you are selling. Your firm has changed the ingredients of this product. Not stick as it was before and not the coverage that it proclaims. Sad to say I will not be going out of my way for this product again. Btw I would like a refund for such poor performing paint

Delivery issues

Ordered an upright online. Delivery took over 6 weeks. Received notice it would be delivered but never came. Spoke with customer service and said would come next day. Arrived at 8:30 pm on a Saturday-not within the window.
2) Order a small freezer online. Was told it would not charge my credit card until delivered. That was the first lie. Never came on stated delivery date. Multiple calls to Home Depot because after I paid for delivery, tracking stated later that it would be left outside. Called the carrier multiple times as well as Home Depot when a week after expected delivery, it hadn’t come and was in fact sitting in Ontario for over a week. Said it would come “sometime” the next week. Most people work and can’t sit at home hoping for a delivery “sometime”. Called Home Depot again and promised a phone call which never came. Called them again and told it had been escalated to the highest level. Told it may come the next day if they sent an email to Day and Ross that day. If not it would be another week. Customer agent said many problems with that company and delivery. Also told me I hadn’t paid for it because my payment was declined which was not true as not only had it gone through my card but my card was paid off as well. When he checked, he found it had cleared as I had said but no apology given. As it turns out, the freezer was delivered that same day and Home Depot had no idea and luckily someone was home however the delivery guy had to talked into putting it in the basement as ordered. Lesson is NEVER ORDER FROM HOME DEPOT. By the way I kept notes of all calls and conversations and told my info wasn’t true as not in their notes! As a experienced note taker , not only was it true but they basically said I was a liar

Home Depot Canada - DO NOT Shop Here!!!!!

Home Depot Canada does not take care of their customers.
I have been dealing with them for a year trying to get my floor replaced after their countertop installer damaged it. Home Depot will not resolve the issue as they have passed it off to their insurance company. I've dealt with the owner of the installation company (Cutting Edge Countertops in Lindsay ON) who was a bully and was pressuring me into using his 'Friend' to fix the floor so he would get a deal. The owner is on record admitting guilt and stated that he would replace the floor but to date has not done anything. Home Depot will not help me. I've contacted the President of Home Depot and I've been told they don't deal with insurance issues. I've cancelled my Home Depot credit card and I now shop at Home Hardware, which is a Canadian store. Shop Canadian because Home Depot doesn't care about you.

Scam Gift Cards

Home Depot considers my file closed and I am satified with their "resolution". I received a $300 "gift card" in return for 5 of my $100 cards being empty. However, I am disappointed that I am not going to receive any money for all the "empty" cards. I'm under the impression that the cards are loaded through Home Depot. So therefore, just because I had 2 cards that were empty doesn't mean I spent the money (since it was your employee who scratched the cards to expose the numbers). The cards were separated from the other plastic pieces at the Hamilton Mountain Home Depot by the employees there, who were trying to get the cards to work, they must have disposed of that part of the card. I received $700 worth of cards from my coworkers 4 yrs ago. They did not provide me with the receipt as it was a gift card. I saved them for a large purchase, which is why I know attempted to use them. An assistant manager, at Home Depot, stated that there was a scam with the Home Depot gift cards a few years back in the Toronto area. She never mentioned some of the cards were not loaded on the Home Depot end, so were Home Depot employees, who loaded the cards, part of this scam? I'm 70 yrs old, I don't have the technical knowledge or no how on how to use gift cards as part of a scam. I'm actually part of the targeted group for scammers. But I will have to say that Home Depot, a very large AMERICAN store, will no longer receive any of my business, not that this means anything to you. It's no wonder in the USA the citizens are buying and returning ice scrapers. Home Depot in the USA has no conscience either. Going forward it's RONA and Home Hardware and I will post my experience. Careful, I hear there is a new gift card scam happening right now in communities, check that all your cards leave whatever facility they come from properly loaded with the correct amount and keep the receipt. Better still, use cash and shop at Canadian stores.

NO HELP, NOT allowed toenter contest for gift card.

Walked into Owen Sound Location and was looking for something specific, and fond it, but all the OBSTACLES in the way was quite frustrating, not to mention, as everyone knows, there is never anyone around at Home Depot when you need them.
But, this is not the reason for my complaint. I can't enter the Survey because I DO NOT HAVE an email or acount registered with them. I only shop here when I can't find what I'm looking for elsewhere, but I think I'll go elsewhere permantly. You won't allow me to enter you contest, WHY should I shop in your establishment?

Home Depot promises and as usual cant deliver.

I ordered mywhirlpool stove on November 1st, 2025. I was to be get a delivery window time Dec 4th for December 5th. On inquiry on the 4th, I was advised whirpool shipped it out late and it would arrive Dec 13. Dec 12th, I was advised delivery would be Dec 18th. Dec 17th I was advised it had reached Moncton but it would not be delivered the next day. I was advised Monday, Dec 21 it would be delivered. On Sunday I received an automated message sayng my delivery window for Monday the 22nd Dec was between 2 and 6 pm. At 6 pm I was advised my delivery window was between 4 and 8 pm. Still waiting! 720 pm Transportation company says the driver has to get off the road because the roads are bad. The weather has not changed from the snowy day it has been. They can't deliver before Christmas now, says Armour Transportation. So kiss goodbye Christmas dinner! Home Depot does not even rate a 1 star in my view. Never buy an appliance from Home Depot!!

Customer services at Home Depot- Horrible experience

I had ordered a couple of items from HD on line as well as a product from the Newmarket store.
The online products arrived without incident, although the communications on the delivery was absent.
The order from Newmarket (scaffold) arrived scratched and a minor dent.
Tried on-line support- what an absolute joke! Repeated questions with no remedy.
Then tried calling, on the phone for 45 min. with 30 second message updates.. very annoying. Finally got some on the phone, she said hello I can’t hear you and hung up… absolute nonsense.
I ended up using the scaffold because I couldn’t wait for HD support any longer.

After 30 years of business with Home Depot comes to an end

After 30 years of business with Home Depot I finally closed all my accounts with them.
Their customer service is absolutely awful! Just no care for us. Over the 30 years we have spent over 1 million dollars in product and that means nothing to them.
Unbelievable unacceptable!

WARNING ABOUT HOME DEPOT LOCAL PRO

WARNING ABOUT HOME DEPOT LOCAL PRO

Beware of Plumber Herbert Anglin (Sanherb Enterprises Inc.)

I am giving this one star since there is no option for zero.

While in the middle of finishing our renovations, we needed a coupling installed for the water meter. So, we completed an on-line request for a plumber via Home Local Pro and a plumber by the name of Herbert Anglin (Sanherb Enterprises Inc.). called back. We provided him with the City’s specs and took a picture of the area that needed installation and he provided a quote of $180 to do the work via text. When he came to the house, he said he needed an additional $70.00 for materials as they are expensive and I told him we already agreed on $180.00 and that I already checked Home Depot for the cost of the coupling and it wasn’t that expensive. In any event, against my better judgment, I agreed to the increased cost as I needed this work done ASAP for them to install the water meter.

Beware, this plumber is messy and incompetent. While soldering the coupling, he torched two areas, first a piece of material in the wall, which broke out into a small fire which I had to place a wet rag inside to prevent it from smoldering and secondly, he singed the HVAC vent. I was upset to say the least. Anyway, when he was done, he left without testing the coupling for leaks or without apologizing or offering a reduced rate for the damage he caused. A few days later while having a bldg. inspection, we noticed water leakage in the utility room. I immediately called the meter technician, thinking he installed the meter incorrectly, but when he checked it, he said the plumber did not solder the coupling properly, so he turned off the City water to prevent further leakage.

A few days later, I called Home Depot’s toll free number to get an email address for my complaint. After several weeks of not getting a response, I called them again and was told I was given the wrong email address and they provided another email for resolutions. Once again, I re-sent my complaint and pictures to them, and a facilitator named Carlene responded. Currently, we have been communicating since Oct. 5/25 and, to date, nothing has been resolved. She indicated “that Home Depot’s role is limited to facilitating communication between the customer and the Pro, and it is not party to any agreement. However, I disagree because they do a background check on its trades to ensure they meet its high standards for professionalism and service therefore, as far as I am concerned, they do play a role in the outcome of this issue. Home Depot or Local Pro doesn’t care about its accountability, reputation or bad publicity. Instead of having the customer’s back, it stood by this “so-called plumber” and closed the matter. It’s because of Home Depot’s commitment that we chose to find a plumber through their Local Pro and we trusted its judgment, but I guess we were wrong. It appears that this plumber is being protected by Local Pro and he needs to be held accountable for his incompetence and damages. “Background Checks” are a farce and they do nothing to protect customers from scammers!

How ironic, Home Depot is not responsible for its tradespeople, yet, they promote the usage of Local Pro via their website – it can’t have it both ways!

Now, I will have to search for another plumber to finish his work and file necessary papers in small claims court. This is costing me twice the amount to do a simple coupling installation, which could have been resolved had Home Pro sided with the customer. Shame on Home Depot and Home Local Pro….customer is always right!

WARNING: check it out before you use the Local Pro because if there are any issues, Home Depot/Home Pro will not have your backs.

Review (with Order # WN40390258)

Review (with Order # WN40390258)

I had one of the worst product experiences ever with Home Depot. I purchased a TV console (Order # WN40390258) and the design was a complete failure. The holes in Parts 1, 2, and 3 were not even close to being aligned, making the product impossible to assemble.

We spent hours trying to fix something Home Depot’s quality control clearly didn’t bother to check. We had family visiting and planned around setting up this console, but instead ended up wasting the entire day repacking this massive piece of furniture.

The unit is extremely heavy, and because it’s defective, it’s now sitting outside our home since we cannot move it anywhere else. The whole experience has been stressful, inconvenient, and completely unacceptable from a retailer of this size.

Home Depot refunded the product, but offered zero acknowledgment for the wasted time, effort, and disruption caused. A simple refund does not compensate for the inconvenience or ruined plans.

Because of this experience, I will never buy furniture from Home Depot again. If this is the level of quality control and accountability, I cannot trust them with large items.

Very disappointing and completely avoidable if proper checks were done.

The absolute worst customer experience…

The absolute worst customer experience I have ever experienced. The delivery was set for a time and date. It never arrived, When I contacted the customer service line, they were confused and unable to provide me a clarification on what was happening. I was told " well sometimes we have to wait for things in life" PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF THE FRUSTRATION AND DO NOT ORDER FROM HOME DEPOT!

Do not order online from Home Depot…

Do not order online from Home Depot Canada. I ordered two countertops, a bath and a corner kitchen cupboard. The order did not go through at first, so I contacted customer support. They told me to reorder and gave me a discount for the issue. I reorder. The next day I find both orders there. I contact them again. They tell me they cant cancel the duplicate order because some of it is out for shipping. It was only the countertops. They cancel only the bath on the duplicate because ..well I do not know why. The cupboard wasnt out for delivery either but they ignored that. The cupboard arrives and I do as instructed by the cusomter service and refuse delivery, as I had been told I would not get charged if I refused. I get charged anyway and it still says this cupboard not in my possession is out for delivery. I have not recelived a refund, it is over $500. I get the extra countertops then have to wait to arrange for them to come pick it up as I live in the country and do not own a truck. They don't show up when they say, then finally come to get them and a week later I supposedly get a refund which has yet to show up on my statements. I still do not have a refund for the cupboard I refused. I got back to customer service, they give me a $100 voucher that is only to be used once I get my refund... what?! I check to see my bath has been shipped but isn;t out for delivery, I wait more than two weeks and no bath. I contact them multiple times and keep getting told they are working on it. I have at least 10 transcripts from the last month. I am now being asked to be patient again. I am over it. Do not shop online. Even our local store told us not to, and to come and order online through them, that way they have control. Home depot treats the online store as a separate entity, so you cannot get any help locally at all.
