This company has been awful
This company has been awful. Taking money out of my account on behalf of energi fitness forest hill South London. I was led to believe there was a cooling off period and now I'm being actively harassed and now with help of Metrobank will be reporting this company to action fraud team .

Dishonest took payments from my account on top of the agreed gym membership payments on the third one I cancelled the payment and direct debit then they sent me threatening letters demanding fees
I can no longer trust these with a direct debit on my account and had to sadly cancel my gym membership
I am surprised that the Marriot with use these people will do many bad experiences

Total lack of customer service
Where to start? The list is so long and almost never-ending
- unable to speak with 'real' humans in order to troubleshoot complaints
- systems that allow little help or support for customers to solve their issues
- total lack of empathy and urgency in supporting customers

Very prompt response and good service
Very prompt response and my issue was dealt with quickly and politely. I was very unhappy after a 'final straw' incident at my local leisure centre where I am a paying member, I contacted Harland's to end the direct debit as, of course, the leisure centre often doesn't answer the phone, and was assured that it had been cancelled for me. Mark at the Complaints Team was great and explained that most negative reviews are due to errors made by the associated gym/leisure centre rather than Harland's themselves.

Poor service and lack of response
Looking at the other reviews it doesn't surprise me that I've had problems 😱.No one responds to emails and it's impossible to speak to anyone . I want to alter my direct debit date which isn't rocket science . The service you provide to members of places for leisure is appalling.
In response to your reply I won't hold my breath I cannot get a response from Harlands customer service email address

My DD for my sons swimming lesson…
My DD for my sons swimming lesson failed this week and money was returned by bank. Received an email from Harlands Group stating I’d been charged £20 admin fee for a £32 direct missed debit payment. I was so upset and looked on Trust Pilot about their reviews. Managed to find an email address for complaint (see customer relations email address on other review responses - Trustpilot won’t let me post email address) and I received a reply within 25 mins and they sorted it i.e took off the admin charge.
Couldn’t have got a better response 😊🤞
*Note this is the first time I have missed a payment so not sure what they’d do in other circumstances but we’re very apologetic in email.

Severe lack of empathy and common sense
Having informed this team that I have cancer and have been through both surgery and chemotherapy when cancelling this membership and also providing a consultants letter clarifying details I got a ridiculous response that dismissed my physical health concerns and asked for “ a actual drs note” despite having a consultants letter that details clearly a situation that would make me unfit enough to use the gym.
I can only presume that there is no empathy training at this firm judging by the cold and frankly stupid response I got back. When I did respond back to them I got no response back. Nothing better than ignoring a dissatisfied customer!
Avoid this firm at all costs if you can.

I would give no stars if possible
I would give no stars if possible!
An avaricious organization, I intended to freeze my membership due to a medical emergency I was then charged with a £95 fine. I also clarified my disability and I was hoping for their support, instead they took full advantage of the situation. Broad day-light robbery!!!
I advise anyone to sort out any issue with the leisure centre instead. This company is completely ravaging the reputation of Leisure Place.
It is definite that Halands also needs to improve the customer service team and retrain members to show some more respect and understanding to members.
Shame on you.

Scammers
Paid off my debt of £44.99 to them a few weeks back (25/11/2022) and then got an email today (19/12/2022) to say that I hadn’t paid it and if i do not pay it by 30/12/2022 i will be charged £84.97 Scammers 😡

I discovered I was paying £33.99 per month by direct debit to this outfit for 11 months. I had no idea how it began, but apparently it was for gym membership at Fitness Hub in Olney. I have never been to a gym, and intend to keep it that way. No response to my requests for details from Harlands, I can only think they are scammers, so would advise you avoid them.

I joined new age fitness gym to help…
I joined new age fitness gym to help with my mental health after advise off me doctor. I’ve been going most days and it has helped me a lot. I missed one payment due to no fault of my own. My bank had a technical issue. Tried to explain this to harlands and got told it’s in my terms and conditions. So they added £25 admin fees. I refused to pay it so they added another £25. I cancelled my direct Debit and guess what they added another £25 admin fee. Is it just me or is this a scam. I’ve now had to sign up to pure gym and I’ve been told if I miss a payment I will not be charged any admin fees. But I will still have to pay for the amount I owe. What is understanding as if I don’t pay for the membership I wouldn't be able to use the gym. I have been threw so much in my life and they probably couldn’t care or even listen to me. But This has now affected my mental health as I’m now worried about how I’m going afford it and if they will just keep adding admin fees.

Echoes the initial experience of others here, but there is hope!
Sadly, my initial experience reflects most recent ones here. No clear process for cancelling gym membership, so we emailed the Gym company direct and cancelled direct debit immediately. Did this as they continued to take money for our son's cancelled membership at the start of 2022 and refunded it after 7 months! No support on the phone - would not accept the offer to pay our final month of fees (minus the £20.00 admin charge) but would make a note on my account that I had refused to pay. I would agree with others here - avoid any gym that uses this company to collect their membership fees.
This feedback has been updated to add that once again, one particular member of staff (Mark) was able to resolve things in a friendly and professional manner. Whilst he was off, another colleague, Nichola, was also very helpful.
So, whilst fundamentally I would be wary of the practices of this company, there are some good eggs to give me faith in humanity!

terrible company poor customer service
my son took out a gym membership. even though he is fully up to date with his payment confirmed by his gym. Harlands keep sending ever increasing bills and try taking extortioner amount of money from his bank. every time we call them, they say its sorted then do it all over again. been waiting for a refund or even a call from customer service but they never call back when they promise they will

£5 black Friday deal until the end of…
£5 black Friday deal until the end of the year??? Rip off. I went to join they say no contract no commitment etc. However when signing up they take your £5 then the very last bit they say you are commiting to a minimum of 1 month at £19.99. So in fact you are committing yourself. Don't be sucked in by unsavoury methods and under hand tactics. Once you agree to this, even if you cancel your direct debit they will steal money from your account and make it extremely difficult to get back or even impossible. The last club I was at closed down but good old Harland thieves kept taking money from everybody's account. Shouldn't be allowed to operate tbh. Avoid at all costs.

They keep adding £20 fee every other week it's a massive rip off, just because I missed a payment but there was no way for me to correct it before they added extra fees, if your gym says they use this company then I'd suggest you don't use that gym, it's a scam especially now with the fact people don't have much money
