The worst
The worst! The queues for passport control took over 1.5hours from non EU countries. Just hire some extra people please. Won’t be coming back.
The arrival queue for passport control…
The arrival queue for passport control was over 3 hours long. No thought given to families with babies, the elderly, disabled or anyone in need. Incredibly rude staff especially the ‘supervisor’. The queue extended the length of C gates terminal and their only solution was to send in FIVE police armed with guns when people were becoming more and more agitated. On arrival in the luggage hall luggage was strewn everywhere and one of our cases (new) was badly damaged. The worst possible airport experience and I’ve had a few! Use other airports - dont use Geneva for your sanity and stress levels
Europe is still sulking at Brexit :)
Both arrival and departure through this airport were extremely poor experiences. Arrivals took over 1.5 hours, and departures nearly an hour, all because of inadequate staffing. What made it even more frustrating was seeing additional staff being used only to manage the upset queues rather than actually process passengers. It genuinely felt intentional. (This is my fourth attempt to post, as Google seems to be suppressing negative reviews.)
Passport control an absolute shambles!!
The worst passport control experience I…
The worst passport control experience I have ever been through in fifty years of travelling. A two hours twenty five minute queue. Zero concern or effort in speeding up the process. Only half the control start are open. Aloof and arrogant staff. Avoid this airport.
Appalling customer experience at GVA
The most appalling customer experience at passport control at GVA I have ever had or seen. Having landed after a good BA flight to a queue that is just unbelievable! Over an hour and half long, with limited explanation other than “it’s over my pay grade!”
Worst Airport
Surprisingly but true, Geneva Airport is the worst airport I've been to in the civilized world. No transit zone access if arriving after 23:00; no working electric outlets (to charge either a smartphone or a laptop); no internet/wifi connection for a laptop (unheard of in the modern age), whereas connection for a smartphone is available only with a paper coupon obtainable from only one working machine in the entire airport; no water machines (or snacks) on the outside of the zone; no comfortable chairs to sit in while waiting to get inside the zone at 4 am. ...Looks like the Swiss have become too lax & laid-back and/or are not thinking about the regular people/travelers (those who don't yet use private jets) – had remained in the 20th century while the world had advanced into the 21st.
Is zero stars not an option
Is zero stars not an option?
Utterly shambolic due to inbound and outbound immigration systems.
Rude , unhelpful staff, completely inefficient and seemingly designed to ensure passengers are in a state of panic.
Leadership should be ashamed.
What even was that
What even was that ? got off the plane and …chaos. Queue was massive. Got a bottle of water though 👍🏼
Since they installed new IT this…
Since they installed new IT this airport is hell. Minimum 90 mins queue every time for passport control. Today 2 hours. Always the same and the staff do not care. Avoid this airport at all costs.
Appalling queues for passport
Appalling queues for passport. No staff and 1000 passengers arrived on 3 easyJet flights. Queue took over 1 hr to get through. The Swiss staff just don’t care and are completely unhelpful. Avoid Geneva at all costs for ski flights!
Geneva Airport
Truly awful airport .The Swiss ground staff at Geneva Airport are totally incapable of efficiency .Passport control is awful .And quiet clearly the whole airport is an embarrassment . They need a lesson in efficiency at Oasdport control in particular .The automated passport control also doesn’t work very well so be warned just in case you think that might be quicker .
Out flight had to take off 45 mins late as a result of the inefficiency and bad organisation at Geneva airport .
The shops at this airport are also way overpriced and you will not get much value for money .
Worse experience of my life
Worse experience of my life! 2 hours waiting for passport control!!!! Two women fainted…. This is ludicrous! Makes you want to never come back
What’s wrong with this county?
What’s wrong with this county?
A major international hub, and vital airport, and there are almost no belts or escalators ascending or decending from gates to/from buses/planes.
Really??
Stairs with heavy hand luggage , children and carriages. They’re completely oblivious of the unpleasantness they add to an already stressful activity.
It is the ONLY airport where I have witnessed such a thing. And I live here.
Third world airport.
I have never experienced anything so…
I have never experienced anything so terrible, waited 2 hours for passport control when arriving, longer than the flight itself. Terrible service, they can put a man on the moon but cannot service the passport control area. 1 person checking passport for queue of over 100 people is just shocking service
A minus star is needed.
Another of the joys of the UK leaving the EU. Swiss and EU citizens going straight through but we queued for a passport stamp for 40 minutes on arrival and an hour on departure. When my daughter asked the only employee in sight if her 82 year old father if he could be taken to the front of the queue, she replied, ‘No, you should have asked for help in advance’.
A disgrace compared to swiss level of luxury
Not enough places to sit with your drink at a cafe
Dirty
Many charging plugs, none of them working and no sign 'out of order'
No rubbish bins
Compared to the swiss level of luxury really a disgrace
Feels more like France than Switzerland, and not in a good way.
Geneva Airport honestly feels more like France than Switzerland, and not in a good way.
Despite being in a multilingual country, don’t expect anyone to speak to you in anything but French. Try English or even German and you’ll likely be met with blank stares, shrugs, or passive-aggressive responses. In fact, speaking French might actually increase your chances of running into problems. Ironic, right?
The airport itself is cramped, outdated, and confusingly laid out. Signage is poor, staff seem overwhelmed, and the general atmosphere is more chaotic than you’d expect from a Swiss airport. If you’re imagining the calm, clean, and efficient Swiss travel experience — this isn’t it.
Services are minimal, food options are expensive and unimpressive, and good luck finding a power outlet or a seat during peak hours.
If you have a choice, connect somewhere else. And if you have to go through GVA, patience, low expectations, and a sense of humor will go a long way.
No more big flight schedule board
I am surprised that the airport has removed the easy to read large board located in the main hall, after the security. This to replace it unfortunately with advertisements! The same on the first floor lounges area. Is it a temporary change to see if passengers care or not? Anyway, not a customer friendly approach..
Terrible airport
Geneva airport must be amongst the worst within mainland Europe. Expect to wait up to one hour for passport control. Give enough time for a long wait also on the way out.
Who was it that said the Swiss are efficient!
