Rented a BMW 5 Series Touring Hybrid from Guerin for a family holiday in the Algarve (Quinta do Lago/Ancão area). Car was clean, well-maintained, and ready on time at pickup. Return process was quick and straightforward — no arguing over damage, no hidden charges, no drama. Exactly what you want from a car hire company. Would use again.

Avoid this company at all costs. This was genuinely one of the worst rental car experiences I have ever had.

I booked and fully prepaid for my rental through Booking.com, yet when I arrived at Lisbon Airport, Guerin charged me again for the rental. Despite raising this immediately, it has still not been properly resolved.

On top of that, I was charged additional fees that have never been explained. The only thing I did was drive the car approximately 2.5 hours to the Algarve and return it to the agreed drop-off location, for which I had already paid the separate one-way drop-off fee. I have repeatedly asked for a breakdown of the charges, but no one has been willing to explain them.

The most frustrating part is the complete lack of customer service. I have made around 20 attempts to contact them by phone and email. Every email has been ignored, nobody calls back, and to this day I have still not received a proper response.

Mistakes can happen, but refusing to communicate with your customer after taking their money is completely unacceptable.

Incorrect charges, unexplained fees, and zero customer support. There are plenty of other rental companies at Lisbon Airport—save yourself the frustration and rent from one of them instead.

I was very pleased with the service except for the working hours of customer service at the airport . Closing at midnight . My plane arrival was at 11:30 PM . If a plane was an hour late we would have no car till the next morning .

We had a great time, the car was clean and everything during the Pick up and „car give back process” was fast.

Delighted with the service, vehicle and value. It was my first time with Guerin and compares very favourably to other options in Faro.

We received almost brand-new car that was perfect for our road trip through Portugal. The staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome, especially the children. We were helped very quickly, and the shuttle was waiting for us almost immediately. The ride to the depot only took about two minutes. Returning the car was smooth and easy. Overall, an excellent experience.

Everything was perfect. Within 15/20 minutes we had our car. The car was clean and new. It was a 3 minute walk to the office. Friendly coworkers that speak English. The car was exactly what I hired.
The return was less then 5 minutes. So the next time I’m abroad I will hire with guerin again.

I recently booked a rental with them unfortunately my flight was canceled do to a airport issue I reached out to Guerin it's mostly AI when I finally got a live person they told me everything is locked for 24 hrs nothing they can do to help my next flight would be in 48 hours all this was out of my hands when we arrived they wanted to charge double the price so we used another brand without any issues. Now expedia is telling me that they won't refund me at all very unprofessional company will NEVER used them again

Easy booking, collection of vehicle was quick, friendly staff and vehicle was great. Price was also extremely competitive as well. Returning the vehicle was easy and again done with great customer service.

The pickup and drop off experience with Guerin could not have been easier. A complete contrast to almost every other airport car hire I have had to endure previously.

The pick-up location directly at the airport was easy to find. We only had a short wait and were welcomed by a very friendly and cheerful staff member, even though it was already around 7:30 pm. The whole process was handled professionally in English.

After a quick and intuitive self-service check-in at the electronic terminal, we were able to collect our Toyota Corolla. The car was spotless, in excellent condition, and felt almost brand new.

We also received all the important information via SMS, which was very convenient and gave us a direct contact if needed.

The entire rental process was smooth, efficient, and hassle-free. I would definitely choose Guerin again and highly recommend them.

Easy to use no stress

Last June 30th, we returned a car at Ponta Delgada airport in São Miguel which we rented from National/GUERIN. The car a PEUGEOT 208 was almost new when we picked it up and the only defect was a slight scratch on one of the wheel caps. There was nothing else visible. The employee from GUERIN who checked us out, immediately appeared over-zealous and was clearly on a mission: he had to find something. He did eventually by passing his hand under the edge of the body wok. He found a little scratch (photo available) and outrightly said that we were responsible and he would have to charge us 217.86 Euros. We disputed the charge as were sure that this scratch was not caused by us and he had no proof that it was not there when we picked up the car. There was no way to reason him and the amount was conveniently deducted from our credit card deposit! GUERIN is the local brand and is certainly not in keeping with National’s image. In fact, we have rented several times with them and never had a problem. Their mission reads “Customer satisfaction is our motivation”! They have lost me as a customer. Be aware and avoid if you can!
