I needed help with an FBAR and remembered hearing about Greenback Expat Tax Services years ago. They helped me figure out I needed to file one and completed it before the deadline. I liked working with Harsh; he made it look simple.

Didn't keep their commitments.
Situation: I needed help from a human because of unusual circumstances.
Experience: I was upfront about my situation, provided all the documentation that I was able to and specifically asked a month ago if they would be able to help me. I was told yes, but never got anything more. They kept telling me 'yes ... just give me a little time" right up until 2 days before the deadline, when they backed out. I would have understood if they had reviewed what I provided and told me last month, "sorry, we can't work with what you've given us." I explicitly said that I needed to know if they could help or if I should find someone else.
I expect a professional company to give me a direct answer, not string me along and then backout at the last minute. Very disappointed. ... at least I got their backout email the day before the deadline.

I started by asking them questions about my situation via the chat and quickly realized they knew way more than I did. Working with them was extremely easy and took my stress levels literally from a 10 to the point where it's now at like a 3 and I feel so sure they did a good job that I think even being that stressed is unnecessary. Price was worth it for the peace of mind knowing it's done right and not having to stress about it. Handled FEIE and changing state residency

I have been using Greenback Tax Services for about 12 years. During that time I have worked with the same accountant for more than 7 years. We have developed a positive, helpful working relationship. This year, I experienced quite a bit of personal difficulty organizing my tax information for 2024, and my accountant was able to get a filing extension for me. Then later in the year we worked together to get all the documentation together and she did her usual excellent job of preparing the return and doing electronic filing. I feel such a relief that I have Greenback looking out for me.

Robin and Greenback were really amazing. I had a really complicated case and he took me through step by step. In the end my filings were about 200 pages and I could have never done it without them. If you are like me and got behind in taxes being an expat during covid I really could not recommend them more. They cost a bit more than some of the other online services but I think it was pretty clear Greenback was worth it.

My experience with Greenback was the best experience I have ever had with any tax preparer in my life. From start to finish our tax preparer was with us answering all questions within 24 hours. Eliminating that angst and worry about the process. She made it the process of doing our taxes actually pleasant. They don't just say they are "with you every step of the way"; they are with you every step. Extremely fair pricing and transparent. Greenback has figured out where the glitches and hold-ups are in the filling out and filing and have cleared the path. So happy to know that Greenback has our back! Definitely will be with them next year and likely for life.

What is even the point of this service? It takes just as long to enter everything as Turbo Tax. You would expect to get an accountant where you can ask questions and have a back and forth conversation, but you get none of that. No specific questions were ever responded to. What's even worse, they were very late in submitting my taxes and now I owe thousands in penalties. When I asked for their help on requesting a waiver of penalties as it was their fault that I received the penalty in the first place, then they said they couldn't help with penalities. The penalities were their fault! Insane!! Save your money. Don't even think about using Greenback!!

Website gave me an accurate description of their work. Worked on taxes for Italy and France with their accountant Mukesh. He was very professional and communicated with me every step of the way. Recieved all the information I requested.

I've used Greenback for my income tax returns for several years now. Never had any issues. Very accurate, professional, responsive. I tried a cheaper option this year and immediately regretted it and went BACK to Greenback. Sometimes you get what you pay for :-)
