We had an excellent experience for our cat’s annual check up. Like most cats, ours becomes anxious going to/being at the vets, but Ralph (the vet who conducted the session) was wonderful with him. Had... See more

I have always found the front of house staff at Goddards Collier Row to be friendly and helpful. And on this occasion, there was good dialogue with the vet himself. My dog had a skin infection for which she was prescribed Surolan.
However, here is where I was shocked. OK, the £55.80 for the (5 minute) consultation was expected, the shock is for the Surolan cream which was charged at £56.44 for 15ml. Online, prices range from £16.00 to £19.08 (£4.49 max delivery). Sorry Goddards but you’re ripping people off.
For that, I should give you 1 out of 5, but that would be unfair on the staff who (as far as I know) do not set the prices and are very good. Government regulation cannot come soon enough…
I have been prompted to update this review after a response from Goddards and before I continue, addressing some of the points made, would like to reiterate that I have no issue with the staff, they are great and always helpful. Unfortunately, I have to be honest in my review and the updates below reflect my findings.
I looked at Goddards company submissions and saw that revenue is some £45 million for the 2025 accounts submissions - up versus 2024, which, OK, everything has increased, so to be expected. The point is £45 million means they have a substantial turnover & hence buying power so question the comment about online prices being associated with that. If a retailer can offer an individual customer that low prices, they can most certainly offer a customer who is likely to purchase many thousands of units an even better price. So, I reject that as justification.
Now, I’m no expert on accounting but the next line indicates that gross profit on that £45 million was £38 million, with operational costs being £7 million (reduced vs 2024). When this is broken down, net profit is still over £7.1 million, up from £3.8 million for 2024, so almost doubling in a year.
As such, I question the ‘running costs’ being a significant factor in the higher prices. Happy to be corrected but the gross figure suggests otherwise.
The consultation fees should reflect the core costs and the option to have a (fixed price) prescription for purchase of medicines elsewhere given, along with the associated cost (of the prescription), should be offered. It wasn’t.
I understand that some costs are incurred by holding prescribed medicines (etc) but an almost 300% mark-up vs already profitable online prices is, as I say, in rip-off territory.
You also mention that the costs are listed on your website. That may be the case but I do not believe they are listed at your Praçtice. Happy to be corrected but I doubt that this includes the cost of individual medicines, either online or in-practice. If it does, it should clearly be referred to.
I’m not here to ‘shoot down’ people who care for my beloved pet and this review was unprompted, but I stand by my comments and, I am making them as I, even though I can easily afford the costs, do not like being taken for a ride.
If you would prefer I take my pet elsewhere, just let me know, but this is about improving that relationship by removing the concern over what look like and, the evidence supports, excessive prices.
Thank you

Vet is so nice, so compassionate and understanding, she gives you her time and knowledge and advice. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Location is good and easy parking both on drive or street parking, paid via app. I would recommend this particular branch to other pet owners.

Seen by the Uxbridge branch three times in two weeks, spending almost £800, and my cat was getting worse each visit. We had an ultrasound, worming treatment, antibiotics, probiotics, and were told twice to change her food — nothing helped. I finally went to another vet, and within 24 hours the difference in my cat was incredible. He actually took the time to understand what was wrong and clearly cared about the animal, not just the money. I’m shocked at how two vets can differ so much. The Uxbridge branch felt like a conveyor belt of expensive treatments with no improvement, while the new vet solved the issue immediately.

Great friendly service. Easy to get appointments and always great care towards my dog…

Called to book an appointment and got through a called centre, the assistant was more interested in practicing her Spanish with me than in booking the appointment.
She did book an appointment at the Tooting branch where I have been going for over 25 years with different pets and before it was taken over by Goddard.
They seem to have different staff every time I visit so the service and care is very inconsistent.
The front staff seemed distracted and uncaring.
The vet was more caring and simpathetic although rather insecured.
The prices astronomical.
I also requested anti flea treatment which I have always got from them, this time I was told to go online to purchase the product as it would be "cheaper" although and in order to do that i had to pay £25 for the prescription, go through that hassle and wait for the delivery.
The only reason why I continue to use Goddard is because is close to me.
The service and care keep worsening every time.

I needed to arrange an impromptu appointment for one of my cats, at the Ilford Goddard’s. They were friendly on the phone, showed genuine concern and empathy, and managed to get me an appointment for later that day! The male vet that I saw was so kind, compassionate, and gentle with my cat. It was apparent that he really loves animals. He gave a full assessment, ensuring not to distress my cat. He also gave me helpful reassurances that put my mind at ease. The nurses were then very nice when it came time for payment. I would very highly recommend anyone to attend Goddard’s Ilford!

Alexandra was so professional and caring, really considering the cost of treatments for our cats Sox and Aries while balancing their needs considerately.

Our dog Buddy has been a regular 'visitor' to Goddards Practice in The Greenway,Uxbridge for many years. There's been many challenging times for him. Enti has always gone that extra mile for all of us. She is an invaluable Vet deserving of a 'gold medal' and a credit to Goddards. She deserves the support of other Vets to ensure she can continue her excellent work in caring for all the sick animals who visit this practice. Also, the nurses are brilliant too and we would not want this practice to close.

The staff were all helpful. I was able to get an appointment the same day at the Hackney branch which was great. The vet was kind and competent. My dog had a puncture in his foot from a grass seed. When I got home I looked at his other foot which had a similar problem - neither I nor the vet thought of checking his other feet at the time! I have always found Goddards very helpful - BUT this visit I was utterly shocked by the enormous mark up on the prescribed treatment. This has left me losing trust in this vet. When possible in future I will ask for a prescription and get the medication myself. HOwever I am worried that if my dog had a serious problem the cost would quickly outstrip my insurance. It is becoming prohibitive to contemplate a visit to the vet which is not in any pets best interests. I appreciate there are overheads and would perhaps have felt better if some explanation of markups was given up front.
The team were great when my cat was worryingly ill on a Sunday evening. They offered out of hours consultation and, called to let us know there was a cancellation, meaning we could bring him earlier which was a relief. Friendly and helpful. All is now well with our puddy.
