communication is slow and dire

I had to log my request for mediation twice because they lost my details first time round, had to then phone and email so many times, the lost the details of what we wanted to mediate, never replied to emails, and the people who answer the phones can't put you in touch with anyone who has access to their details. Told me I couldn't apply for tribunal whilst waiting for mediation (but the certificate that they finally sent me says differently). Such a frustrating process.

Waste of time for SEND parents - just go straight to appeal

Global Mediation are the company that are now handling mediations for EHCP processes for Surrey County Council, and I assume beyond.

My experience of mediation today as part of an EHCP appeal is that it is a waste of time and taxpayers money. My experience was that Global Mediation is just there to serve the Local Authority.

Global Mediation claim to get the right people in the room to mediate conflict, but today I was in a mediation session with a representative of the Local Authority who was not part of my son’s panel; did not have the authority to overturn any panel decision made even if we did enter a negotiation; and had not read any documents pertaining to my son’s case prior to the meeting.

Any parent or carer considering mediation on behalf of an EHCP application: skip it and just get the certificate to go to tribunal. You will get absolutely nowhere in mediation.
