After over 25 years cruising with different cruise lines we tried Fred Olsen for the first time in July 26. My overall feeling was why on earth did we wait so long! The service, food and just overall... See more

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines operates a fleet of three elegant, smaller-sized ships, Bolette, Borealis and Balmoral. The size of our ships allows us access to more interesting places, and means we can dock in the heart of some of the world’s most beautiful cities, and our itineraries are carefully crafted so that our guests travel to these amazing places at the very best time of year.
On board, Signature Experiences showcase the history, culture, nature and flavours of the destinations you will visit – from Itinerary Insights, where special guest speakers and local experts will host talks, workshops and demonstrations to provide a deeper understanding of the destinations, to Treats of the Region, where guests can enjoy local delicacies and learn how to create delicious regional dishes.
Plus, with each ship carrying 1,300 guests or less, our ships are small enough to offer a warm, friendly and personal service where nothing is ever too much trouble.
At Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, we channel our 175 years of experience into making your holidays simply unforgettable by meticulously crafting our cruises to provide an experience that helps to create memorable journeys for our guests.
With sailings from five departure ports around the UK, your next Fred. Olsen cruise is closer than you think.

Rosyth is a very convenient travel point for us All the staff on the ship are always very helpful, friendly and polite as well as welcoming. The facilities by Forthports were poorly organised by Forthports themselves.

I had a bad back, and should have cancelled the cruise, but mistakenly thought it was improving. The weather was very poor; of the 3 tours I had booked, the one I was really looking forward to was cancelled due to bad weather, the 2nd I missed the best of as I couldn't walk far enough, and I gave up on the 3rd. Thank goodness for your jigsaws, and the loan of a waking stick. Not the holiday from hell - the cabin and service, the shows and the food were excellent, though I was as far from any restaurant as I could be and felt I was having to struggle along miles of corridor - but it was definitely purgatorial.

This was our second cruise with Fred Olsen. Again excellent organisation, great ship, superb food, friendly hardworking staff. We have now booked for next year, if you want a smaller ship with a good choice of destinations I would not hesitate to recommend Fred Olsen.

We had a very enjoyable cruise despite the unhelpful weather. We went on a tour, used the provided shuttle buses and loved seeing all six countries. The staff were extremely kind and helpful at all times. Dining room staff were lovely and so were the various bar staff. Cabin was always spotless and such pleasant people to care for us. It was much appreciated. We also enjoyed the music provided ..the trio of violin, guitar and bass were fantastic and we have their CD to enjoy.
The only situation we disliked was on one of the formal evenings when a junior member of staff tried to stop my husband from entering the dining area. He said that my husband should be wearing a jacket and tried to give him one to wear! My husband stated that he did not want one and the one he was being offered was far too small for him...he is 6ft 4ins tall. We were stopped right in the middle of everyone trying to get into dinner and it was extremely embarrassing, as well as unnecessary. Nowhere in the brochure does it say jackets are mandatory. My husband was wearing a smart shirt and trousers which we thought were acceptable for the occasion. We were eventually, after a couple of minutes, allowed to enter. Fortunately on the next formal evening there was no problem. Other members of staff in the dining room were very supportive having witnessed our treatment. I hope this will not happen to anyone else as it may affect whether they will travel with Fred Olsen again.
We have cruised with Fred Olsen for several years and are now well used to the high standard of service we experience from all personnel. Crew members are engaging and always patient and positive. Cabins are clean and comfortable. The food is of a high standard and presented very well. There is a wide range of on-board experiences and entertainment to choose from and the tours are enjoyable and reasonably priced.
Fab cruise around Ireland lovely small ship great entertainment and staff and trip’s thoroughly recommend
Waiters at table 91 - Mark and Ramesh were brilliant. Excellent service and engaged well with our table. Lovely lads 😀
Excellent staff/ entertainment/ food
Our cabin walls allowed noise from adjacent cabin and the wash basin was cracked with a shabby repair.
IT problem at the check in was not good with us standing in wind for over 1 hr - fortunately it was not raining!
Destination were great but would have like a few more hours at each as a bit rushed.

Great cruise on Borealis to Iceland. The ship, facilities and food were very good. All of the staff always had a smile and looked after us fabulously. Trips were very well organised and for every single tour, the guide was experienced, knowledgeable and gave exceptional service. I recommend the ‘food and wine pairing’ or ‘chef’s table’ experience, the Sommelier Dee who organised these events was also outstanding as was the chef.

From the moment we boarded until the time we disembarked, the whole trip was absolutely amazing!
Very helpful crew who are always smiling! All the lounges are immaculate and the shows and talks are always something to look forward to. Food in the dining rooms is always so good. I really can’t fault anything on the Balmoral and looking forward to being back next month.
We had an amazing time on the cruise. Bolette is an amazing boat, we loved the swimming pools, the restaurants and our cabin. The food was incredible and we loved it all. The wine choice was a little disappointing as the included white wine was Chardonnay - the 1 white I do not enjoy and we could not substitute this without paying. On the contrary, the cocktails were delicious and only £7.70.
The boat was a little tired and could have done with a lick of paint in places. The football dominated the whole cruise unfortunately (we are not fans) and when we requested that the British Grand Prix was shown on a big screen, this was not the case and we did not receive any feedback or explanation.
The Fjords are stunning and the service on the boat was incredible - the staff are amazing and work very hard. Overall we had an amazing time.

I've just been on a back-to-back cruise; Faeros/Iceland then on to a round Ireland cruise. The changeover was simple and efficient. I had to change cabins but all my luggage was collected and taken to the new cabim for me. I was dreading packing all my clothes again but was told that if I left them on the bed on their hangers they would be taken and hung up for me! What a blessing!
Fred Olsen thinks of everything. The crew are polite
