Arranged a test drive of their new all…

Arranged a test drive of their new all electric ford explorer a week prior and then in the day I was to take a test drive I'm told that the demo vehicle is at a show. Well after looking at the reviews here it certainly looks like I dodged a bullet. I have driven ford models for the last thirty years. I won't anymore and I won't spend another euro on them. They obviously have zero loyalty or respect for their existing or potential customers. I'm off to buy a Hyundai instead..

Ford Transit - Wet Belt Issue

I bought a second hand Ford Transit 2018 Eco Blue with 200,500km on the clock. The wet belt had been changed at 115,348km. Ford recommend replacing the timing belt every 160,000km. The difference in mileage since the last belt change is 200,500-115348km = 85152km. 160,000km – 85152km = 74848km i.e. plenty of time/mileage left to change the wet belt. Not so it seems!!!. The wet belt went 4 weeks after the purchase. Further investigation revealed that any Ford vehicle using a wet belt is prone to early failure.

Total Cost to Repair the Damage

Worst experience ever dealing with ford!!

I have been dealing with Ford Ireland regarding ongoing issues with my father’s two brand-new Transit Custom vans. Despite being loyal Ford customers for years and having purchased two brand-new vans, the experience has been nothing short of a nightmare. The first van, purchased in 2018, had an AdBlue pump failure within two weeks. Ford assured us a rental van would be provided, but my father was asked to provide bank details for a deposit to Enterprise, who then took weekly payments, which took months to resolve. Ford extended the warranty from 3 to 5 years as compensation.

The second van, a 2020 model, has been even worse. At just 80,000 km, the wet belt snapped and required a full engine replacement. Ford only covered this after questioning the servicing quality, despite all work being done by a trusted mechanic. Just two months out of warranty in April 2025, the gearbox failed, costing nearly €6,000. Since then, persistent engine management issues linked to the DPF filter have caused continuous frustration, despite multiple repairs.

We requested goodwill assistance for the latest repairs, only to be met with refusal because the van was 2,960 km over their 160,000 km cap—a limit that was never clearly communicated until after the van was brought in for repair. Communication has been poor and slow, causing unnecessary stress and financial strain on my 74-year-old father. Attempts to escalate this matter to management have been ignored or met with canned responses. Ford’s refusal to offer any goodwill for such a minor mileage difference is unacceptable.

Additionally, from all I have heard, these Transit Custom vans are plagued with issues, some even worse than ours. It’s clear Ford is struggling with quality and customer care.

I am a Ford customer myself, but I will be switching to Volkswagen in the future. In my opinion, Volkswagen is a far better brand. Ford has gone downhill significantly—everyone should stay away and stop buying their vehicles. Maybe then Ford would start putting more thought into their customers and improve their service.

Ford Ranger Wildtrak

2020 Ford Ranger Wildtrak, so far two major issues with this vehicle both repaired under the Ford warranty. Spirit Lillis O’Donnell did a great job to get this vehicle back on the road. Staff were very helpful and professional. Kept me up to date on vehicle repair schedule. Fingers crossed this vehicle doesn’t have any more issues.

Please do your research before buying…

Please do your research before buying any new Ford car, we only had our car 2.5 years and the engine has gone. Not only did the engine go, the brakes failed while on a major road causing near fatality. Ford has been less than useless, there is no aftercare. I’ve provided 4 service history’s in the space of the 2.5 years of owning the vehicle and they still won’t stand over it, the engine going is a manufacturing fault and I’m expected to pay over €7,000 to replace it. Now as this is an ongoing dispute I’m been advised I’ll be charged storage fees if I don’t either pay for the vehicle to be fixed or get it towed away. The vehicle in question cost €64,000 and was purchased in 2021.

Brand new Ford Tourneo 2022, engine broken in 1year and 8 months

I bought a brand new Ford Tourneo connect in April 2022 in Ireland. On 10.01.2024. The engine could not start.

The Vehicle was towed to the Ford dealer in Sandford Dublin for repair. I was told that the engine was broken and needs to replace a new engine. It has run about 95,000 kilometers. The warranty on this vehicle is two years and will end on 25.04.2024.The dealer was great, gave a lot of help.
I Don't have a replacement vehicle to use and as of today my Ford tourneo is still being repaired.

Due to the quality problem of the Ford engine, It was broken just in 1year and 8 months. After replacing the new engine, I am looking for to extend the warranty for 2 more years. Because just incase the new engine will has a same problem as the broken one.

I tried to contact Ford customer service many times by phone(1800771199) to discuss extending the warranty. No department or person could look after the matter ,either no person answer the call or gave a no exists number (03702416726)and even transferred the call to the British Ford customer service. The British Ford customer service mentioned my vehicle not on the systems because it had an Irish Reg number and could not provide help, which meaning there is no way to get intouch with them for this matter.

I had German, Japanese, Korean cars before, engine never broken, but Ford quality really low, never buy vehicle from Ford .

Ford management refused to stand over a genuine issue

Ford management refused to stand over a 2 year old Ford Ranger vehicle. The issue is with Ford in Wolverhampton (not Navan where vehicle was bought, the people in navan are good to deal with) who will make every effort to not stand over a vehicle when they should. I would say buyer beware as your warranty is not worth the paper it is printed on with ford. Ford will try to avoid repairing failures under warranty by any means possible and cannot be trusted- Advice would be to go anywhere but Ford, unless you have money to burn. A shocking experience of trying to create reasons to avoid responsibility. The guy on phone seemed to understand that Ford should be resolving an engine failure but reverted to stating that 'management will not be helping you' as a stock answer. When I asked could I speak to management he told me that I would have to go legal if I wanted to question this. Its a shocking way to deal with someone who simply wants a vehicle repaired when its engine fails for no reason! My preference is not to leave reviews and i would prefer to delete this if the ford people in Wolverhampton showed any reasonable attempt to be fair.

Edit, 2 weeks later. Still no effort to help despite multiple attempts with dealership, with customer service and with ford in Wolverhampton. These are people that will not help their customers even when they should.

Customer Service - Deplorable

Hi, I am annoyed with the level of service that Ford offer particularly Coltons Ford Tullamore. I have chosen to go to Coltons Mullingar instead. However, here I had a service carried out in August and now I have been told that they cannot find a record of this as a new system has been installed. The service carried out there is very good but there does not seem to be any warranty on the work carried out as the same error has occurred again. The interaction between customer and customer service is deplorable particularly in Tullamore where is more pronounced and well-known. Notwithstanding the exorbitant prices charged for basic items and minor work done. The cars are good with a good driving experience but the after care service is shocking!
