Great assessment visit and overall team were very helpful

It was simple and very well organised to join.

Have respect with regards to long serving members of the FMB in my respect of some 50 years of membership many as a member serving on both Regional and National Boards. Being made and having much pride in becoming a Honoury Member seems to have had the 'shine' and 'pride' taken away when this is ignored by our Membership Team!

Whilst a very friendly service, there is very little power the FMB can exert even in mediation although, I would recommend the service is used in order to support a case in court to demonstrate you’ve been proactive and reasonable. My experience was the builder in question didn’t want to play ball and the FMB simply closed the case with instead a non-disclosed complaint case raised. I would have hoped some findings would be presented at outlining the behaviours of parties involved. Also FMB have no powers to hold monies similar to a deposit scheme to ensure incentive for parties to work together. Overall the FMB is toothless.

Everything provided by FMB is easy to follow and navigate. They provide a simple cost effective comprehensive service. I would recommend to all builders

I am a customer of a builder in Caerphilly Goode building services whose business dealings are to say the least unscrupulous. Telling me I had a hole in my main roof and wanting to charge me £7,000 and that was to put my old tiles back on! Days after his lies two reputable roofing companies inspected my roof reporting I did not even have a cracked tile. I also overheard him telling his plasterer “I’m going to get more money out of her” referring to me! TFMB Dawn in particular acted immediately on my concerns telephoning me to better understand my concerns, the builder is a danger to decent people who want to pay a decent price for a decent honest job, The builder was taken off their site, that demonstrated to me that they took their duty and business seriously.

Renewal Increase too much.

Way above inflation at at this time of cost cutting. not appreciated

Very disappointed service from FMB, following using a builder in the KT23 area who left us homeless, with an extension riddled with problems following bad workmanship and incompetence to rectify the works. Builder was registered with FMB so we turned to them for help and despite us sending them the full structural report (from an incredibly reputable structural engineer firm), plus the Contravention Notice from Building Control, plus photos of the terrible works, the FMB replied 'it does not fall within the scope of the FMB’s Dispute Resolution service. Our service is specifically designed to address issues related to workmanship'. I'm unsure how our situation could be anything other than related to workmanship!

Multiple builders have come to quote to remedy the works and all have been shocked at the workmanship from the initial builder. None of them can believe FMBs reply and most have said it's just another paid for subscription which isn't worth it. (I can't comment on subscription with FMB).

Very disappointing from FMB. For any homeowner who is looking to get works done, don't necessarily trust this logo to be there to help if things go wrong.

Update 14/07/25 - following FMB reply. To note, FMB accepted a 4 line reply from the builder (despite telling me the builder would have to answer all questions raised by myself- which they did not). The builder lied claiming they had tried to remedy things, which was completely inaccurate as they had not. I have never asked FMB to issue compensation or a refund in any capacity - so this is quite a surprise that FMB would put that in their reply. Another completely inaccurate statement. I was led to believe a full investigation was done, but it seems they would trust 4 lines of lies from the builder, instead of Building Control contravention notice which asked the builder to remedy his bad work (but he never even tried) and a full structural report from an engineer who never ended up hearing back from the builder in question. FMB clearly do not work with the customer, but very much on the side of the builder. Homeowners beware!
