Visited here twice in 2026 - Now got a £100 fine

Visited here twice in 2026 - Both experiences pleasant, nice staff.

Sat outside with a beer - All good.

Today we have received a £100 fine for the second trip.

Very shocked, of course you cannot get hold of anyone on the telephone at the pub or the company demanding the money.

Staff did not inform us we had to enter the vehicle reg like Premier Inn do etc. I have never actually seen a pub have parking restrictions. There are shops across the main road but there are about 5-6'000 spaces....

Anyway, an online search appears I am not the first customer. Many long term ones been caught out by the new system... Its a shame as its a nice spot, but like the others, will never go there again.

If only the staff had been trained to advise customers to enter their reg.... Like Premier Inn have done.

Ordered 4 meals from the Grimsby…

Ordered 4 meals from the Grimsby restaurant Beechwood Farm through Just Eat. After 1 hour 2 meals arrived, I immediately phoned the restaurant and a member of staff asked me for the order number and what was missing (no apologies) I told her what items were missing and she had a conversation with another lady and concocted a story, she told me the order had come through in 2 orders and the 2nd bag was to be delivered by another courier? The receipt was stapled to the bag, and listed my complete order as was taken by Just Eat and paid for. The 2nd order never arrived, after an hour I rang again, I told the lady I had rang earlier to enquire about my missing items, there was no explanation and the phone line went dead??? They never took another call despite calling them a further 4 times and leaving a voicemail each time. My son rang off his phone to see if they had recognised my number and blanked me, they didn’t answer but they did return his call…the manager told him that it wasn’t the restaurant’s responsibility if the order came through Just Eat they were responsible for the order being checked and delivered? Really!!! When your staff are aware half an order hasn’t been delivered, they don’t take accountability and make sure the order is delivered. This was 4 hours later when the manager replied to him and he also stressed no food bag was on the side so it must have gone out for delivery? What disgusting customer service, never again! I’ve left a review on just eat and requested a refund.

Abysmal Experience

Hillfield Farm Shirley Solihull
Visited 9th June 2026. 12 members of family have used this restaurant for over 10 years approx twice per week.( 1248 meals per annum) Recently there appears to be a new manager who never faces the public to resolve any issues but hides out back relaying messages via staff when challenged about certain practices they have put in place. You can tell when this person is on duty as staff appear anxious , stressed and atmosphere is uneasy . After this weeks fiasco we are debating whether or not to continue our patronage of this restaurant . Two small plate carverys ordered. Three people in front of me had the same small plate orders . Their meat choice beef and Gammon. They were given two large slices of gammon plus two slices of beef or 4 smaller slices of Gammon off new joint plus two slices of beef . Our turn, we were given 2 very small beef slices off the end of the joint .Nothing more. Gammon is not an option for us and wasn't offered anyway. Only a dried up Turkey carcass with no meat left on it was the alternative. Another slice of beef perhaps ? No we are running out of beef was the reply. We are not big meat eaters anyway so I decided to put up and shut up . I then dared to ask for my two pitiful beef slices to be put on a large plate as I like a lot of gravy on my dinner. At this point the chef started doing a dance behind the counter. Ooohh I can't do that you will get me in to trouble. Why ? I'm just trying to avoid spilling gravy down myself en route to the table. I can't eat the
plate and I'm certainly far under my portion size, Chef asked out back re larger plate and came back with the answer of NO!!
I was offered a gravy boat as a way of transporting extra gravy. Due to disabilities I had to make three trips to the carvery section before I actually sat down to eat, My meal was cold and the gravy congealed by this time.
By the way my meal consisted of 2 very small beef slices. 1 small yorkshire pudding as requested, 1 roast Potato, small scoop of mash , 2 small Parsnips, 4 slices Carrot. 1 piece of Brocolli plus Gravy.
The only person who showed any customer service to us that day was the barman who seeing me struggle, having passed him several times, offered to help me carry items to the table. Thank you young man I was truly grateful . Shame on you management . You should be customer facing if a problem arises due
to your rulings. not sending your staff to do it. Your future business hangs in the balance depending on returning custom. Something you may like to consider.

Pine Tree Farm - Fantastic 🌟

This was our second visit to Pine Tree Farm and it was another great meal. We travelled over 40 miles as our disabled son whose fave food is mash and gravy says this is quality and it was his birthday choice. I booked our large group online, communication was excellent and so was the food.
There was a queue to order but we didn’t mind waiting. Service was excellent again. The carvery was tasty and scrumptious. It was also piping hot and constantly topped up. Wouldn’t hesitate to travel the distance again to visit Pine Tree Farm. Thank you 🌟

Best Green King pub I've been in - Barley Farm Eccles

Barley Farm - Eccles, Our first visit here after watching Sale Sharks. We ordered a bottle of wine with our food, the waitress explained that due to licencing laws on game days (rugby) they can't serve anything in glass. The Manager then popped over to apologise and provided plenty of ice for our wine...in a plastic jug. He then returned with a free dessert to say thanks for our understanding. Food was served in a timely manner and, although we didn't have it, the carvery looked awesome. We did see one of the chef's carrying a plate of food to a table for an elderly lady. Throughout our visit the staff and Manager were friendly and on point with everything.

Manor Farm in Castle Vale

My mother and I went to Manor Farms in Castle Vale for a meal. The meal was ok. Nothing to shout about. For £27 I don't think it was worth the money I paid. I thought the food on the plates would be a bit larger. The plates were cold so therefore the food went cold quickly. Just a heads up. Make sure your plates are hot when the food was going on it. Couldn't finish my chips because they were cold. Also I don't understand how you can justify 2 lemonades to come over £7. Mom asked for small lemonades and got pint glasses. Don't see the logic in that. I will go there again but it will be the carvery next time. Nobody came over to serve us so I had to do the ordering from the app on the table which I really didn't want to do. It was an ok experience but nothing to shout out about.

An annoying episode

For a Special birthday treat a table was booked for 7pm dinner on 1st February 2026 at the Chestnut Tree Farm in Ipswich. The venue was a little busy. We placed our order of 3 standard carveries and 1 chicken skewer, and with drinks .
These 3 people went immediately to the Carvery station only to be told no meat was available ! When it was mentioned that it was still early evening the response was
'It's down to a question of supply and demand' before turning his back on them. We got a refund for the none existing food and left the venue, really astonished that food wasn't available at a 7pm time slot and taken aback by the curt attitude to customers. We will not return to this venue again. ( By the way, the Toby came to the rescue with a delicious meal for everyone)

Barley Farm, Eccles

Unfortunately my wife and I arrived a litte late for breakfast and found that breakfast had already finished at 11am, so we had no choice but to order the all day breakfast which cost us about an extra tenner. What really spoilt it for us was that they had sacrificed that extra hour (most restaurants finish serving breakfast at 12) by bringing out the dinner. It seems no one told the customer because the first one didn't arrive till 11.35, by which time everything had sat under the heat lamps for 35 mins. The only saving grace was that the service and the breakfast was actually very nice, I'm just glad I wasn't having the dinner.
