Make sure you get an up front agreement in writing about the scope of work. Otherwise they will, unbidden, start doing work that they assume you want done. I racked up a £900 bill with them before I realised what was going on and could stop them. All that had happened for that bill was that we discussed briefly the scope of work, and then they reviewed some documents that I didn't want or need them to review.
