Many customers found the booking process problematic, citing issues with price discrepancies and unexpected additional fees. Reviewers frequently encountered difficulties with customer service, describing it as unhelpful, hard to reach, and often leading to unresolved issues. The refund process was also a major source of frustration, with many struggling to obtain their money back or facing significant delays. The service provided was often criticized for being unreliable, particularly when changes or cancellations were needed. Devastated elderly parents.

My parents always wanted to go to Hawaii. They are in their 70s but it was so expensive. Finally this year they was able to go April 9 -13th 2026. We booked through Expedia a hotel and the experience was terrible. My mom is in a wheelchair and Hawaii was under national disaster watch flooding and volcano issues. She even got the insurance from Expedia. Tried to cancel but because my mom accidentally booked a non refundable room they refused to refund our money. They stated hotel refused. Called hotel it was all on Expedia, they lied. Ended up losing 1500 dollars. Tried to push trip back to a later date. Expedia wanted to charge 600 dollars more for cancellation and fees. Tried for almost two weeks before to cancel. My mom is in a wheelchair couldn’t go there and something happen to her or my dad. Due to flooding. So inconsiderate. This is the third time we have had problems with Expedia. Never again. My parents are devastated.

Absolutely horrible experience working…

Absolutely horrible experience working with suxpedia, especially for businesses now. Without proper info for guests provided, you are causing checkin and contact issues with guest, causing horrible reviews for businesses who now cannot contact guests as needed. Absolutelybhorrible for business and extremely insafe for both guests and businesses for us to now get zero info on our guests, also causing us to cancel reservations immediately when pay wont go through instead of contacting the guests. Guests have repeatedly told me they do not get expedia emails from us so contacting the guests is now completely not a solution. Please fix this for businesses. For safety, we NEED CONTACT INFO

Absolutely disturbing..

Absolutely disturbing... If I knew that I'd be on hold for over an hour because they refuse to let us have a refund I would've never booked with them. People don't have money to waste for hotels that have terrible service!

Terrible Customer Service

Terrible Customer Service. Flight booked and properly cancelled in early March. Airline confirmed refund issued to Expedia 2nd March. Contact customer service and told it would take 1 billing cycle. Contacted again in April to be told not issued, and then escalated. Then told today I had to wait 1 billing cycle = 2 MONTHS to get money back that Expedia have been earning interest upon. Chat channel is only route to complain and staff have no ability to sort. The Feedback Form tells you it won't be responded to so why have it? Crazy!

Expeida is a rip off

Same as previous reviews, Expedia will do everything they can to take as much money as possible from you. They lie and steal. I was told not to use them and i did, they displayed my name in reverse, last name first, first name last. I flew out of country as airlines allowed it, but they said get it sorted as you may have trouble on return. Expedia says they cannot correct i, with passport proof all else. Avoid this scam.

I wanted to tell people how corrupt…expedia is

I wanted to tell people how corrupt expedia is but coming here I can see theres no need as you all have already said everything thing about how horrible and deceptive they are . They charged a resort fee for a cancelled reservation. I went to cancel on hotels.com but the reservation only showed on Expedia. They charged $650. $605 for the room and a $45. Resort fee. I never stepped foot on the property! And ALL HOTELS say the same thing we could help you “ if you had booked directly with us” I have closed my account, although Ihave successfully used hotels.com many times this corporation is HORRIBLE and Id rather not travel then support their growth or sustainability to be able to rip off others

Extremely disappointed with Expedia.

I booked my Kenya Airways flight through Expedia, and the flight was cancelled while I was already at the airport. From that moment onward, there was zero accountability or support from Expedia. What followed was a drawn-out and exhausting three-month process with no resolution and no refund.

My refund claim was to be ignored and then left in limbo. The responsibility was constantly being shifted between Expedia and the airline, with neither party taking ownership of the situation.

Once payment is taken, the burden seems to fall entirely on the customer to repeatedly chase what should be a straightforward refund for a cancelled service.

Overall, this experience raises serious concerns about accountability when using third-party booking platforms. In situations where flights are cancelled.

I would strongly advise others to carefully consider the risks before relying on Expedia for bookings where reliability and post-cancellation support are important.

Excellent customer service

Have been using expedia for over 15 years, and I have come to appreciate it even more following horrendous experiences with other platforms. Never had an issue getting refunds for cancellations, and when a flight gets cancelled, they were active in finding a solution and found different flight options. You can reach the customer service and actually talk with them unlike other platforms. The agent was also very helpful when Enterprise did not have any cars available when I went to pick up the car I reserved through Expedia. They also tried to find other companies nearby that would have a car available and also helped with the alternative solution. Will continue using Expedia for future travel plans! Excellent customer service.

They should not be operating.

I made a booking through Skyscanner and was redirected to Expedi. I paid £423.91 for 2 tickets. Got an email about a problem with the tickets, so I rang Expedia and the agent assured me that the ticket would be issued that night (ticketing issues). The travelling day, there were no tickets; had to pay BWP8208 for new tickets. I rang Expedia again and told the agent that since the money was “Pending” and they had seemingly cancelled the reservation, the money should not be allowed to leave my account. Expedia still took the money. I rang them again and told them this was a fraudulent scam- they pretend to sell tickets, take the money, refund when they feel (following their dodgy policy and earn interest while doing so! Imagine if this is happening to a million customers, how much are they making?). The agent I spoke to started citing nonsense about their refund policy of 7 to 10 days; why did they take the money after they'd cancelled the reservation? This made me very irate; the agent did not seem to grasp that I have bills to pay and now I have had to raise the issue with my bank because Expedia still have not refunded the money (two weeks later). I asked them over the phone twice to return my money since they did not provide the service. Advice: Do not ever use the Expedia group, they are scammers, in my opinion. It is a shame that sites like Skyscanner still host them.

EXPEDIA LEFT ME STRANDED

EXPEDIA LEFT ME STRANDED! I would give zero stars if possible. I purchased a package to Italy from USA for March 2026. We flew United out of Newark and had to connect in Rome. Well, the partner airline LUFTHANSA has poor customer service and was not directed to the correct gate. We missed our connection and Lufthansa canceled my ENTIRE round trip tickets without any notification. Expedia kept telling me my tickets were in the system and the airline would tell me the opposite. Long story short I was stranded and had to purchase all new tickets for the whole trip on my own. Expedia is supposed to be a travel agency, but they were no help. It’s been over 3 weeks and there hasn’t been any refund for the original trip. This is a scam!

I purchased a hotel package through Expedia. They have a policy you can cancel it within 24 hours. I had to cancel the package after a few hours of purchase the package because of the flight issues. And Expedia and sol by melia hotel refused to refund my money back. so they’re lying about their policy so this is a scam. I have been a customer with Expedia for probably more than 20 years. Never had any issues cancelling or rescheduling. This is the first time and they’re refusing to refund my money back.

Telephone help not that helpful

Booked an international flight, and during check in learned that the ticket did not include my full name. Airline (Cathay) would only change it for a fee. Expedia told me 'we can't change it within 24 hours per our contract.' Yeah, well it was 36 hours before my flight, which I was then told 'sometimes its longer.' Well there you go. Cathay used the opportunity to upcharge me, which is apparently the way they do business.

Very disappointing experience with…

Very disappointing experience with Easirent in Miami. The price shown on Expedia was not what I ended up paying. I was charged additional fees that were not clearly explained during booking or at pickup, which made the rental much more expensive than expected.

On top of that, customer service was extremely poor. After noticing the overcharges, I contacted them by email multiple times and never received any response. It’s frustrating to deal with a company that does not take responsibility or communicate with its customers.

I would strongly advise others to be cautious when booking with this company. What looks like a good deal upfront may end up costing you much more, with no support if something goes wrong.

Terrible Experience with Expedia in…

Terrible Experience with Expedia in South Korea

I recently had an extremely frustrating experience with Expedia while traveling in South Korea. I booked a flight through their platform under the condition that cancellations or exchanges would cost only $1. Thinking this was straightforward, I cancelled my booking just an hour later.

Expedia then told me I had to contact the airline directly. The airline was efficient and confirmed that since I cancelled on the same day of booking, I was entitled to a full refund. I even received a cancellation confirmation within minutes. However, when I returned to Expedia, their system still wouldn’t let me cancel the booking.

I tried using Expedia’s virtual agent, but it constantly showed errors. After wasting more time, I finally managed to reach a human staff member at Expedia’s Seoul office. She checked and confirmed that the airline had already cancelled the booking, reassuring me that the money would be refunded.

Despite this, the money was later withdrawn from my account. To make matters worse, I have been unable to reach Expedia’s customer service since then. The lack of support and broken systems have left me extremely frustrated.

Good experiences with Expedia customer service

You know, I’ve always had great experience every time I called Expedia. They answer promptly on the phone. With recent call for changing flight and booking for bereavement purposes, the person I was talking to (Mervin) went above and beyond, calling airlines and hotel on their end to advocate.

ROGUE PACKAGES

When booking a package of hotel and flights my booking repeatedly failed with the message that I should try later. However, though no bookings showed in my Expedia account, my credit card was repeatedly charged for flights only, totalling c£1,200 - but no hotel. Endless arguments with Expedia and promises of refunds led to them telling me to contact the airline instead (which charges for cancellations) as though they had no responsibility. AVOID EXPEDIA.
