Looking at 89 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Customers frequently complained about receiving unexpected parking fines despite having made valid payments or displaying proper tickets in the car parks. Consumers expressed deep frustration regarding expensive penalty charges, poorly functioning payment machines, and completely rejected appeals by the management. Some reviewers were not happy with receiving severe warnings and official notices issued without proper prior notice or adequate communication. 26 second stop!

26 second stop!

Stopped for 26 seconds, late at night to pick up my lad from work unknowingly in a no stopping zone. Hadn’t seen the one sign that I allegedly should have seen because it was placed on a sharp bend and was not lit at all. Having revisited the site my headlights would only have lit the sign up for 2 seconds. The irony being is that the sign needs to be read in order for the driver to comply and in order to do safely you must stop your vehicle. Unfortunately stopping means you commit the offence. This is basically legalising fraud but the company will claim that it is in the interest of safety etc.

Excel Parking Services operate the toll…

Excel Parking Services operate the toll system over Warburton Bridge, but they are not content with getting £1 per vehicle they issue fines to nearly every vehicle crossing for £31, which are posted out late so there is no time to appeal before the fine doubles so most people just pay, there is a whole FB page of disgruntled people who have been scammed by Excel Parking Services.
This company is just fraudulent, so AVOID WARBURTON BRIDGE AT ALL COSTS

I have received a notice for a fine…

I have received a notice for a fine regarding the Warburton toll bridge on 14th Feb 26 despite the fact I was nowhere near it as have no reason to travel there on a Saturday evening having recently been widowed. The notice was only sent out this week months later and this is a blatant deliberate error and scam to get innocent motorists fined over a hundred pounds for something they have not done !!! I have appealed and also am bringing this to the attention of both the media and our local MP as it is a horrible devious way of making money off the backs of the unsuspecting motorist who has done nothing wrong or has not even driven near the location. Needless to say I will not be paying a fine for something I have not done - either my number plate/car has been cloned or this is one huge scam

Scammers

The owner of this company along with employees who authorizes appeals should be in prison for fraud. I am a courier. I was delivering an airplane part for a Ryanair engineer to the maintenance department. The location for the delivery was given on the app what3words. This application takes me 1 metres to the delivery point given by the person who receives the delivery. The location was at the first building to the left when you drive in to the airport. There was a locked gate clearly out of use next to this building. I have pulled in there to do the delivery doesn't blocked the road what so ever I was completely off the road. I got out. Checked for entrance what I couldn't find so I called the engineer to tell him that I have arrived. He told me that I am on the wrong place as the location in the app is incorrect. ( I repeat the location is given by the company or person receiving the parcel in this case Ryanair ) I got back in the van and he navigated me to the right place. Done the delivery and got the engineer to sign the delivery note. I have received a letter couple of weeks later to pay a fine of £100 as I stopped there. I have appealed the fine with the same explenation and the delivery note signed by the Ryanair engineer. They rejected my appeal and made me pay the fine. I had one ocasion before when this happened with a different company but they accepted my proof of delivery and let me off without having to pay. If I would stop when I dropping someone off I would accept the fine. It was definately not my fault so it is hard to swallow.

Appalling company

Appalled by their behaviour. They admit I bought a valid ticket, and have charged £100 as registration number incomplete. Not a shred of conscience or fair minded approach. I would go out of my way to avoid them and recommend no one uses them.

This company is utter scum

This company is utter scum! I always display my parking tickets in the same place where ever I go. I've never had a problem with it untill I parked in one of their car parks. According to them, I did not display my ticket in the correct position. They took pictures of my car and in one of the photos you could clearly see my ticket. I appealed it and gave them evidence of payment of the ticket and the photo of my ticket in the window they provided in their claim. They refused the appeal and now they are taking it to court. If I was in the wrong I would of happily payed the fine as I was in the wrong, but I'm not!! Now they are pressing a CCJ against me just as I'm trying to buy a house. I can't believe they can get away with scamming people like this!

Grantham Morrison's carpark ticket

Got a parking ticket from being a bit over the line in a parking space as there wasn't any disabled spaces left and had to get my grandma wheelchair and herself out of the car. A bit disappointed really especially on a Sunday. Was only parked there for 50 minutes aswell.

Vehicle Control Services Limited is one…

This company is one of the most immoral and nasty companies I’ve ever had to deal with.

I’m a resident and received five separate parking charges being parked in my estate while waiting for a replacement permit I had already requested. Instead of applying any basic common sense, they issued multiple tickets for the exact same situation and then rejected every appeal with what appears to be generic, copy-and-paste responses.

There is no genuine review process — just a system designed to reject appeals and pressure people into paying. Issuing five charges like this is excessive, unreasonable, and feels deliberately exploitative.

I tried to resolve the situation properly, including asking for a reduced settlement and even a payment plan, both of which were refused. The response was cold, dismissive, and completely unhelpful.

The whole approach comes across as greedy, inflexible, and lacking any sense of fairness or decency. It creates unnecessary stress for residents and feels entirely driven by profit rather than any reasonable enforcement.

Avoid at all costs

I have used a car park for work for…

I have used a car park for work for over 5/6 years. They recently increased the parking by over double and I could no longer pay monthly & had to start paying daily. As someone who is neurodivergent, I have to set daily reminders for my parking now to ensure I don’t forget to pay. Anyway, 1 day out of nearly 5/6 years of parking here, I forgot to pay (bad day - it happens). Anyway, regardless of the money I have given this company over the years, they refused to even consider the fact that this was a one off and have charged me £60. Complete lack of empathy and understanding from this company and I will ensure to never step foot in a car park owned by this company again.

Incompetent, toxic company that cares only about money

XL Parking fined my wife £60 for overstaying by 13 minutes in an Iceland car park. No grace, no common sense—just an automated demand for money.

She was going to appeal, but after reading the volume of negative reviews online, I advised her it wasn't worth wasting her time or mental energy on a company this toxic. Sixty pounds isn't worth the stress of dealing with an organization that clearly has zero regard for people.

When I went to pay the fine, I noticed their website was displaying "Not Secure" warnings because their SSL certificate is invalid—a basic security failure for any site handling payments. I contacted them to let them know, and their response was a rude, copy-paste email asking for a PCN number. (Rolls eyes)

This sums them up perfectly: highly efficient at issuing automated fines, but completely incompetent at everything else. It is embarrassing that a business so obsessed with "rules" and "penalties" lacks the basic technical competence to keep its own website secure.

We will never use an XL Parking site again, and we have informed Iceland that we won't be shopping there as long as XL is running their car park. A simple shopping trip should not be a financial gamble.

And just in case you think they have won because we gave them £60, no, they haven't, because they are now losing £104 a year for the parking that we would have spent going to Iceland each week. They're about as good as forward profit planning and customer retention as they are at dealing with people.

Have a great day, everyone and just vote with your feet, or your wheels in this case.

Don't use these car parks

I have just had to pay a second fine to this company. I can't prove that I did enter my registration into the touchscreen and I am sure I did. I will not use this car park again and probably will not shop there again so the shops have lost out too.

Avoid their car parks at all costs

I have parked in their lot at my local Iceland hundreds of times, without issue. But one day, I overstayed by 13 minutes. They sent me a fine of £100 or £60 if paid sooner. I tried to appeal, sighting the law, and stated there were queues at both places I went to, including Iceland, and that I needed to use the loo urgently before I went to Iceland and they wrote back asking for proof i was in Iceland. Well, I didn't have it, because I paid cash and I don't keep receipts for that long. So then we tried to pay the £60 fine, so my credit didn't get ruined and their site was blocked by bitdefender. Why? Because they don't have a current SSL certificate. Avoid their carparks. They are scammers.

Terrible experience

Terrible experience. This car park is a revenue-generating trap rather than a service for shoppers. I received two PCNs for overstaying by 4 minutes—hardly enough time to even get out of the bay and to the exit. My appeals were rejected immediately. It’s clear they aren’t interested in fair parking; they are interested in fines. Ebbw Vale deserves better than this kind of predatory administration. Shop at retailers with friendlier parking options instead.

Unpleasant system that seems to be set up to catch you out. Allegedly the car park supports the local town so I seriously hope that some of the parking fines go to the town and not this money printing bunch of creeps

NO STARS RIP OFF COMANY

I would give no stars if I could. I visited a travel show which was hosted by HOLIDAY INN Southend airport. It advertised free parking but when I arrived I wasn’t familiar with the area, so I pulled over for 5 minutes to have a look into the parking. I then parked and went into the show, getting my ticket validated at the end, for free parking. Two weeks later I received not one, but two PCN’s for stopping in a non stopping zone. I didn’t see any notices about this, but then I wasn’t looking for any. I didn’t obstruct anything and I think it shouldn’t be allowed to treat people like this. I’ve appealed but of course it’s been rejected. Do I pay up or let them take me to court?
