Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 1,156 reviews, most reviewers were somewhat happy with their experience overall. Many users find the application to be a powerful and helpful tool for organizing notes, data, and various aspects of their lives across multiple platforms, including Windows, Mac, Android, and iPhone. Customers appreciate its ability to sync notes across devices, the ease of searching for information, and the overall reliability of the platform for storing important documents and ideas. The interface and note appearance are often described as modern and well-executed, with some finding recent improvements have made it indispensable. However, some people mentioned significant dissatisfaction with the pricing, stating that it has become very expensive and continues to increase, leading many to seek alternatives. There are also concerns about the app's performance, with reports of it being slow to start, unresponsive, crashing, and having erratic or poor search functionality. Additionally, some users feel the app has become clunky and bloated with unnecessary features, making it less efficient than previous versions, and note issues with certain features not working as expected.

Great app which I have been using since 2008. Tasks doesn't work for me, it's too limited, especially no integration with calender. But despite that I am still a very happy user.

Old TSW (The Secret Weapon) Users Got Shafted

I am an old TSW (The Secret Weapon) user (TSW relies heavily on tags) and an old Evernote user. Since losing the ability to sort by tags (we had this feature many versions ago), a somewhat simple but neglected enhancement, IMHO, we lost the ability. We never regained the ability to leverage the TSW method.

The Notes themselves are a lousy editor. I cannot compose easily without problems or use Grammarly or other tools. There is less integration now than before.

Printing is a pain, especially when I need to print a subobject or a group of objects in succession, such as an embedded PDF or an image. Forget about merging or rearranging anything, like PDFs (you'll need another tool). Also, often, say in an airport, I cannot access documents, although I have changed offline settings recently; hopefully that fixes things, but my Apple Wallet works better for boarding passes, etc.

I use Kanbanote to organize my tagged notes and people stuff, etc. But I need to tag everything up front, which Evernote makes very difficult (there is no default tag option, just null or blank, not "Untagged").

Capturing information from diverse sources is the reason I still use Evernote, I think. But my GTD weekly reviews get neglected or are far less frequent because the tags I need are missing. I use Kanbanote to organize my notes, which supports tagging, but AFAIK, it still cannot tag untagged notes, which cannot be queried.

Calendaring and calendar integration seem to be lacking, or never work properly or as expected.

Indexing is degraded. I can no longer find documents that I could before, even with Evernote's AI-assisted searches.

Good luck, but even with Evernote's own AI implementations, the neglect or degradation of the old product for long-term users has never been reversed for them. As soon as I can find a better alternative, I will. I am going to explore through my AI assistants, Claude or Gemini, and find a better system.

I have tried them ALL in 2026 and have…

I have tried them ALL in 2026 and have found that Evernote is by far the best app out there by far. It is ALL inclusive and checks ALL the boxes. All the other apps I tried were good, but were always missing something. An important feature or created friction to capture notes from different ways. Evernote does it ALL and for every platform (Windows, MAC, Android, iOS etc). At $24.99 a month it is not cheap, but you get what you pay for. Evernote is a premium product that commands a premium price. I highly recommend it if you are a power or business user.

Too much usage restrictions

Actually, not using Evernote for creating any more notes, as the limit imposed by my current plan puts a lot of restrictions. I use my subscription to access my old notes. For new notes, I use a different app. I do not need lots of AI. You could have offered a basic plan, without restricting device number, notebook number, or number of notes. AI use could be limited, as many like me would not need the same. However, you imposed lots of restrictions, making the app practically unusable. For someone using Evernote for over a decade, the number of notebooks and notes has long crossed the currently imposed limits. So in effect, I cannot create a new notebook or note.

Trusted for over a decade

I've used Evernote for well over a decade, on both my laptop and my phone. It's been a reliable and trusted tool for managing my personal notes, memories, financial information, and reference materials. I highly recommend it.

Constantly loses audio notes -- and has grown ever worse from the original SIMPLE note taking app.
Been using Evernote since its inception when it was a simple note taking app to log notes -- now it can't even save audio notes. -
steps to reproduce:
start a note
add an audio note and record for ~20-30minutes
stop your recording
go back to your note and find no audio note -- just gone

has happened repeatedly.
pretty much done with this crap

Used to be good now they dont care

Used to be good when it was the first of its kind. The customer service was phenomenal and helpful.

Now its just an overpriced glorified note taker with more useful features than what it needs. Can't even do Business Card scanner, something it tried to do, then didnt follow up. That would be more useful than all the other features.

And now the customer service is non-existent, every trick under the sun to avoid dealing with the customer directly, AI bots, followed by vicious cycle of following links that lead to knowwhere.

Even as a premium subscription, they just don't care, they keep increasing the price but reducing the service.

Excellent, versatile app

I've been using Evernote for years now. I love that I can access it from my desktop app and my mobile app. Functionality is great. They're constantly updating the experience. I think I've only had to contact them once about my subscription and remember it being a positive experience.

DON'T LEAVE HOME WITHOUT IT!

I've been using and relying on Evernote from almost the first day it was released. It is my go-to memory for everything from shopping lists to keeping track of tasks and inventory. I am a volunteer with my local CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) unit and keep all sorts of time-sensitive info coordinated on my cell phone, laptop and home computer. On June 16, CERT provided vehicle and crowd management, including first aid, at a local high school graduation - the third largest high school in my state. I had immediate access through Evernote to maps, aerial photos, schedules, posts, radio channel assignments, etc.

Long time Premium user of Evernote who…

Long time Premium user of Evernote who has to look for alternative options. The current subscription dollar amount is a large jump from prior years is cost prohibitive. Certain improvements haven't been made though shared with many in public product forum. Hoping price is reconsidered before I depart.

It's appalling

It's appalling that I have to download a new version almost every time I use the app. I don't want ANY of the AI updates. This used to be a nifty little programme and now it's BLOATWARE of the most egregious kind.

Used to be an essential

Used to be an essential. Now incessant forced updates and constant changes make it harder and harder to justify keeping this app.

Every update fixes one bug and creates another.

Very Poor User Experience

I don't even know where to start. I have been using Evernote for a while -- several years. It started out ok, but it continually went downhill. I have now concluded that Evernote has become garbage. It's extremely buggy. In one situation, I almost lost a bunch of my notes. Luckily, I was able to recover a snapshot of the page, which I suppose is a positive. It chews up a ton of memory. It's slow. I'm not happy that my month-to-month billing was changed to yearly billing, which likely now means that I can't cancel the account and get almost a year's worth of billing refunded. I will definitely switch to an alternative as soon as I can.
