I purchased a brand new Epson printer…

I purchased a brand new Epson printer from Vatan Computer (Turkey). On the same day of purchase, during the initial setup, the printer immediately started blinking all lights continuously and became completely unresponsive. The device was defective right out of the box.

I returned the product to the store on the same day and requested a refund or a replacement, which is a basic consumer right for defective products. However, the store refused both options and insisted on sending the printer to an authorized service center, forcing me to wait up to 10 days. They also stated that if the service claims “user fault,” I would be charged additional fees, which is unacceptable.

This approach is against basic consumer protection principles. A brand new product that fails on first use should not be repaired — it should be refunded or replaced immediately. I did not misuse the product in any way.

My request is very clear:
➡️ Full refund or replacement with a brand-new, non-defective unit.

I have already filed a complaint with the Consumer Arbitration Committee in Turkey and will continue to escalate this issue on international consumer platforms until it is resolved.

This experience has seriously damaged my trust in both Vatan Computer and the handling of Epson products.

Terrible printers.

Terrible printers.

I had my first Epson printer in the '80s. It was a dot matrix FX-80. It was really cool because you would press the print button and the printer would print. Printers that print are the best type of printers I've used.

But I needed something newer. Something faster. Something colorer. I also had to have direct CD printing because dang it, physical media is NOT dead. It is far superior to streaming but that's for another review. I shopped around the 3 or 4 direct to CD printers of the 73,284 models that every manufacturer makes and found the one: the Epson XP-6100. Cue the angelic voices and the god rays.

But apparently over the past several decades, Epson had a meeting where they determined that, no, printers should not print. What they SHOULD do instead is spend several minutes making loud sounds and then just give up. Maybe throw an error message like, "Hey knucklehead, you need to put paper into your printer in order to print," never mind that there is paper. Details. Oh, and that firmware update you just did ten times? Yeah, you're going to have to go ahead and do that again. That and their insatiable desire for branded replacement cartridges that must have ALL colors full in order to print in black. From the specific black cartridge. But all colors must be full. For black. Make that make sense.

So as to not convince you that the '80s were the last time their printers actually worked, they are kind enough to bundle like 18 different pieces of software - for one printer - that was clearly designed back in their glory decade. Seriously, they could at least update their UI to the Windows XP era. But no, Windows 3.1 it is.

OK, that may be a bit harsh. Gone are the days of 6 inch wide port connectors. We now do most things through Wifi because that simplifies life. The printer even includes a button for quick wifi setup... that doesn't work. Sure, you may "see" your network and sure, you may "connect" to your network and sure, your printer may say you're "connected" but don't let that lull you into thinking that it means you "can" print. Or scan. The scanning is even worse but let's focus on the printing.

But alas, Google is here to save us. Using the power of all of the world's knowledge and of the pinnacle of human technology in the year 2026, Google Gemini is able, in only a few short hours, to help get the Epson printer to communicate with a computer! Amazing! My hair may be torn out. I may have missed my son's first baseball game. But dang it, I can now click "print" and see that I have a printer. Not actually do a print because of course I'm out of paper despite there being a stack of paper in the printer but hey, it's like I'm a God being able to press a button here and then hear a grinding sound way over there. Worth it!

Ink cartridges go "empty" (They are…

Ink cartridges go "empty" (They are full, tested in other printers) if you don't print for more than a month, and recent firmware updates have bricked my printer with cartridges being unrecognizable, despite being genuine Epson 212 cartridges and brand new with less than 10 documents ever printed.

Actual scam of a company. Never buy from Epson.

Workforce Pro 4830 is a complicated prima donna

I have owned this Workforce Pro 4830 printer now for a period of 4 years and have spent more time in trying to figure out how to get it going 'again' - how to avoid constant requests for updates etc. always when I am in a hurry, and recently, it wouldn't even recognise its own cartridges, which are horribly expensive. I will use up this set of cartridges and then take the printer to our local rubbish tip and get a cheaper printer. I have often wasted more time on printing out a one page document, than if I had typed it out on a typewriter.
Ah, yes, it has all those bells and whistles including the sounds, which seem like a mockery, when you never know: 'is it going to print this latest task, or not?' Can't remember what I paid, but it was probably the most expensive printer I have owned so far.

cashback made difficult

i brought a epsom ink tank printer mainly as it had a cashback promotion , printers okish but try to get the cashback, epsom make this process as difficult as possible. i entered all the credentials got a reply stating was being processed. Few days after another email arrives saying my uploaded receipt could not be accepted, got another receipt and started to log in that's when things go wrong. no matter what i try i cannot get in to the log in page. ive tried different devices different browsers all to no avail. as others have said i now believe this process is rigged so you cant claim, or epsom hope most will give up.ive lost more in time already than what the cash back was worth. i really hope i never have to put a warranty claim in as I'm sure this would be the same long get nowhere drawn out process

Absolutely the worst Customer Service…

Absolutely the worst Customer Service and product I have ever dealt with. No one cares, I spent over 2 hours on the phone and 5 different people trying to upload pictures, only to be told I would have to give a debit or credit to hold until I send my 3 month old not working printer back. I wish I had read these reviews before I purchased this printer. I will not only never purchase from this company but will share my experience.

Very satisfied customer.

I am being totally honest. I bought an Epson XP-420 in 2010. It lasted until 2025. It was very reliable. I wasn't thinking about upgrading at all until it stopped working. I really believe I caused the failure. I stopped using Epson ink for replacement, along with long periods of not using it. I certainly could have resolved the issue but after 15 years of reliable service it was definitely time to upgrade. I am a very satisfied customer. Bought another Epson printer. The brand is outstanding, five stars from me.

The product is defective and not as…

The product is defective and not as described. A manufacturer technician explicitly confirmed that the device has a fatal error and instructed me to return it.

Despite this acknowledgment, the seller failed to provide a functional return authorization process. The official return link provided by the seller consistently returns an error message stating that the information is incorrect or that the order has already been returned, which is false.

I made multiple good-faith attempts to resolve this issue directly with customer service, including while actively speaking with a representative. The seller refused to escalate the matter without explanation and instructed me to wait and retry, which did not resolve the issue.

By acknowledging the defect while preventing a return, the seller has constructively denied a refund. Class Action Lawsuit is the only real possibility to hold this company responsible, and would like result in a nice payday for any lawyer willing to bring this corporation down.

Epson has twice updated it's scanning…

Epson has twice updated it's scanning software for our ET-3958 and it gets worse each time. My wife is used to the HP software and it is very user friendly. The Epson software is confusing and cumbersome. It requires going back and setting up the destination for the file each time. We will go buy an HP printer/scanner. I will use the Epson since a seldom scan.

DO NOT PURCHASE EPSON PRODUCTS!!!!!

DO NOT PURCHASE EPSON PRODUCTS!!!!!! I purchased an Espson printer and recently had issues with it not printing correctly. I called their technical support and was not treated very well. I spoke to three individuals. The did not offer any suggestions as to why my printer was not printing. They did, however, have not problem letting me know that for $100 I could speak to a technician. The next individual I spoke to said I could talk to a technician for $50 the third quoted me $150. I shouldn't have to pay to talk to a technician. Why was I being quoted three different rates? In the end, I did not pay any of these amounts and Googled my question. This felt like a scam! Google gave me several suggestions which I followed and figured out how to get my printer working again. DO NOT purchase from this company!!!!!

Epson - Never again

Epson - 5 hours with Customer Service/Technical support trouble shooting, providing the required 6 photos of the inside of the printer, error message, ink bottles used. I purchased ET-5800 $799.99 on 8/14/2025. It will be replaced with a used refurbished unit. When I receive the used/refurbished printer, I have use that box, their fedex label to send it back to them. I had to provide a CC with a hold of $499 which will be removed when they receive the defective product and determine I didn't misuse or harm the printer. Unbelievable - never again Epson!!

Tech Support Fixed my Connection Problem Fast

I work for a Fortune 500 company that has their own tech support. I have spent a total of 3.5 hours on the phone with the company tech's to connect a printer sent to me by the company. The company tech's decided this brand new printer was defective and called Epson re the warranty. Luckily for me, the Epson technician asked to contact me and walked me through the set-up. He was able to fix the issue in 5 minutes. The company tech's were trying to connect the printer to the wrong port (LPT1 instead of USB). Way to GO!! I wish i would have gotten a name so I could send your tech a personal thank you! Amazing service!

Purchased EPSON Model XP-2205 XB7Q084042 …

Purchased Model XP-2205 XB7Q084042 I purchased this unit from Argos in Spalding Lincs in the belief that i was buying a product of quality however after possibly three months I have removed it from my systems and reinstalled a cannonTS3150
REASON? The Epson i have found to be an Over engineered, Over priced and Over complicated,
It is a low quality product that is VERY slow in operation from choosing print to actually printing
Does not give a quality print of photos or accurate colour
Is constantly interrupting work to update a particular process
I am constantly being bombarded by requests to purchase Ink or Paper
It is grossly over priced for ink (when taking into account number of pages to a cartridge )
If they want to, or are even interested it can be collect from my premises, otherwise i will have no choice but
to take it to a local waste disposal unit
I am leaving here what in my opinion are truthful reviews wherever i am able, I will be advising prospective purchasers to steer clear of a product that does not live up to expectations
