Cost more than it pays.

I booked a collection when getting my quote and was called within an hour to confirm the date. Within the confirmation call I was told the car could be collected sooner, which I agreed to. I took the day off work so I could wait at home, the waiting never stopped.

I called at 2:40pm and was told that the drivers are still on their way but they have vehicles onboard but car will definitely be collected bby 4pm because thats when the yards close, I was told I would get a call back ASAP with more details. Nobody called back.

I called at 3:50pm, explained the whole thing and was told the original date was never changed, the guy who booked me in has *just* gone on holiday and nobody was ever coming on the day I was told over the phone. I then requested that they collect the next morning and I was told I'd get a call back and that never happened.

I called them at 8.30 the next morning, 30mins is plenty of time for them to make up for not calling me back. Spoke to someone new again, had to explain the whole situation again and then was told the collection was never changed and there was no chance for them to collect any earlier even though they promised it.

When speaking to the customer service people they seem nice but theres no follow through on their promises. I cancelled the booking and got a price from a local scrapyard who came and collected same day.

I'd not recommend this service to anyone, I have lost a day and a halfs wages, 1 day waiting in for them and then half a day to fix their mess by contacting someone else. They claim to make it as easy as possible but all I had was stress, then the local scrapyards who they claim are hassle are the ones that were the happiest and easiest people to deal with.

I am livid, and I wont get my time or money back and these are the two things they claim they save you. Failed on both counts. When I cancelled the booking it was "okay have a nice day"...

Very disappointed that the guy never told me how to separate the metal to get more money. I told him that I had a lot of cast iron separated and I had stainless steel but he sent me to scragg and did it all on there. I am new to this but since learnt that he should have sent me to separate bays

Very efficient and prompt service…

Very efficient and prompt service throughout, car collected from driveway the day after phone enquiry, by Bellshill depot, the closer Dundee depot presumably not having avalability at such short notice, payment was received by bank transfer on same day as collection, certificate received by email the next day. Friendly and mostly communicative interactions, over the phone and in person on collection, the only exception being that no warning was given about the risk of contamination by dirty grease of the gravel in front of the house where the pickup truck extendable ramp touched the ground. Unfortunately it turned out that quite a lot of grease was actually left on the gravel which was only discovered when the grease was inadvertently brought into the house on soles of shoes with resulting minor staining to the floor coverings. But for that unfortunate damage the service would have been rated as five star. When brought to their attention the company told me they spoke with the driver who said they check the vehicle daily to make sure everything is fine and report any repairs or maintenance required and thanked me for mentioning the problem which they will have look at again.

Avoid at all costs for scrap car collection

Avoid at all costs for scrap car collection; didn’t turn up for two separate bookings, was told 3 different time frames, calls from drivers coming to collect my car on days I hadn’t booked. Seemed incredulous that I had a job and couldn’t wait around for days on end because they repeatedly couldn’t organise the booking. This was Birmingham/West Mids based. Went to another company and sorted first time.

If I could give these guys a zero…

If I could give these guys a zero rating I would. Got a quote and booked my car in for collection 3 times and on each occasion they didn't show. No call to cancel and no follow up call, I had to contact them. No show 1 - system didn't pick up the booking. No show 2 - driver broke down. No show 3 - nothing. Ironically they asked me to complete a customer satisfaction survey, to which I've had no reply nor any further contact since No Show 3. Save yourself the trouble - go to Global Ardour Recycling who paid a fair price and picked up my car first time and on time.

The Middlesbrough are a bunch of Jokers!

The Middlesbrough site of EMR are a bunch of jokers.

I had told the operator who was dull and rude that the scrap car had been parked up for a number of years. They told me they had the equipment to move such vehicles. They’re cowboys, they told my son he would need to push the scrap car on to the wagon.

Waste of time!!!!

Great service from Gloucester site!

Great service from Gloucester site scrapping my car yesterday (site GL2 7NG). Booked in online and after uploading some simple documents, was told to drop off at my convenience during opening hours. Popped down at 1:30pm, was quiet and I was helped straight away

Didn’t grab the name of the guy who served me but he was great!. Paperwork was swift, explained properly and I was given necessary documentation and informed how it works with the V5C document.

Offered same day payment for £2 fee or overnight. Opted for overnight. Money was in my bank first thing this morning when I woke up. Better price than anywhere else!

Able to catch a bus from the main road outside the scrapyard straight back into central Gloucester.

Overall a hassle free, great experience. Having to scrap a car is never ideal but if you need to and want an easy service with a good price I would recommended EMR Vehicle Recycling.

Awful, dreadful, scammers, was offered £330 to collect my car for scrap, upon collection they gave some rubbish saying the catalic convertor wasnt the original but a generic one, and said price would be £120, obviously said no, went to £150, again no chance, went to £210,again said no, settled at £250 to get rid if them, i am certain they rip off all there scrap car collections like this, DO NOT USE, STAY AWAY FROM THEM AND WARN OTHERS

I got as far as trying to find out what they'd offer me for my old Peugeot. Put in reg and postcode. It came back we don't recognise this postcode. It's a suburb of Northampton. So not exactly a little village. So I put everything in again. Then I get. We can't find the vehicle for this reg.

Excellent service from start to finish.
Especially James Ashford-Barnes at EMR Sharpness who made the whole transaction so easy and personal. He was a delight to deal with. The driver was brilliant and very helpful when bringing the skip to our premises and the collection was perfect.

Not up to their hype.

My relationship with EMR got of to a great start on the 27th August when I phoned about scrapping my much loved 2003 KIA Carens. The lady I spoke to was a wonderful advertisement for the company being animated and lively in her conversation. During that conversation I understood that my car was worth about £375.00 provided it had a functioning battery, alloy wheels and was delivered to EMR’s yard.

I phoned the opposition who sounded quite efficient but who were only offering a collection service and who valued my car at around £300.00. I called back to EMR to see what the position would be if they collected the car and I was told £308.00. Naturally I selected EMR as my service provider.

EMR were almost ready to collect my car the following day but as my new vehicle was not available before 1st September I arranged collection after that date. I accessed EMR’s documentation and filled in the required forms including my bank details so with that paperwork the deal was arranged with a text confirming the collection date etc. As it happened other arrangements clashed and it became necessary to change the collection date to the 9th September. These arrangements were all managed via txt messaging.

On the 9th September the carrier called arriving about 13:15. He commented on the condition wondering why I would scrap such a good looking car but all too soon my dear old Kia was gone. By 15:00 the email with my Certificate of Destruction had arrived so great service so far. EMR had my bank details so naturally I expected payment but by Thursday afternoon my payment had not arrived so I called the office. The man I spoke to found my details but said they needed identification before hey could make the payment. All rather surprising as they had my name my address, my bank details my car and it’s log book etc. To facilitate the identification process at 16:15 they emailed my asking for a photo of my driving licence assuring me that once they had the picture they would make the payment. At 16:27 I emailed the driving licence photo.

After the call I went on the EMR website to find they had now valued my car at £223.00, £85.00 less than the value discussed on the phone.

On the web EMR tell me that:
“When you click to accept your quote, we’ll send you an instant email to confirm the price we have agreed for your car.”

I have no copy of a quote nor any instant email confirming the price we have agreed for my car.

They also assured me that: “You can be sure that when you accept an old car quote from EMR Vehicle Recycling we will keep to our agreement on the value we offer you.”

As the former process was not carried out so this could not follow either.

I went to check my bank and despite telling me payment would be made immediately following receipt of my licence details no payment was in the bank. I sent this message via their Web site, I checked each morning and on the 16th September the £223.01 made it to my bank but still EMR have not had the decency to contact me.

If you can’t avoid this company just make sure you get the necessary quotes and acceptances etc.

EMR Camden

I scrap everyday. The yard on 6th street in camden is a joke.Lowest paying scrapyard in area and expect to go
home with nails or screws in your tires. If they have a cmputer or atm problem which is all the time you have to wait forever to get paid or come back the next day.I
avoid this yard now and only go there when I need to get my truck empty whenthe other yards in area are closed. The only good thing about them is there hours.

Called yesterday at 1pm and spoke with a representative ( I believe this was Ross) who offered a scrap price for our car. I made full disclosure that the battery would not be included when asked of the car would be whole (alloys would be included). Then, Chris called me later in the day re collection to confirm that this offer their company made could not be honoured as the car is not complete and attempted to offer £20 less for it. Completely poor and false information provided. They also did not check who gave the quote which is would have been clearly on their system. I will not use again as dishonest.
