Furniture donation was incredibly easy and the team were lovely. Their Stroud and Nailsworth shops are great too.
Absolutely terrible customer service
Absolutely terrible customer service! DO NOT buy from this charity shop. They failed to deliver the sofa we ordered and then refused to give us a refund. When we called to talk to the Winchester store regarding this we were passed from person to person and promised calls back with no return.
High prices
High prices, I completely understand that it's a charity but also under the thought that if want to pay eBay prices I'll go eBay and not take time to go to eBay. eg 150 for a low end (cheapest) high fi stack and £80 for cd player that is 50 - 60 at the same condition on eBay. I'm not reseller and think they should be sent to the depths of hell but also like not wasting my money.

I love my new sofa and it looks great under the picture I bought, also from the Bedford Emmaus. Darren & Paul were fantastic and very helpful with everything.

The shop was great and the staff very good all let down by a terrible delivery service
Bought a wardrobe which they refused to take upstairs just left it by front door and left they were very rude.
If your going to charge a delivery service you need to deliver it where it needs to go in our house it goes upstairs not the hallway
We are in our 90’s and left feeling very upset
I'm regular at Emmaus South Manchester…
I'm regular at Emmaus South Manchester as a local church leader, and the shop staff - especially Gavin and Toni - never cease to be friendly and helpful. The shop is a brilliant centre for our young people and anyone in need, and it's the most amazing boon to our local efforts to look after people. I cannot praise its staff highly enough as they seek to alleviate poverty and gloom with a smile and good advice. Long live Emmaus South Manchester!

Were recommended to Emmaus for a house clearance. What can I say. Three guys turned up. They were professional, funny and knew I was having the family home cleared and were very understanding. Could not have got through this process without them. 5 stars 🌟 service
Great service from the delivery guys.
3 guys from the Colchester branch came to deliver a very large sofa. I was worried it wouldn't go through the door but they happily removed the feet and got it safely. They were polite and quite jolly, it was a pleasure to do business with them. The sofa is good quality in an excellent condition. and at a bargain price. Must go to store for used furniture and so much more.
Well where do I start went into the…
Well where do I start went into the shop in Swinton last Friday 31st jan 25 the staff in there are fantastic, ordered a sofa x2 to replace the one I had previously bought at the salford branch 18 months ago which has been great I'm all for charity being disabled person myself, So as discussed with the member of staff paid in full and made the arrangements to have the sofa delivered and the old one removed off which they sold me not a problem. Delivery lads turn up and said we can't take your old sofa as there wasn't a fire resistant label on it but this is the sofa I bought of them and the arrangements made in the shop to remove for a small fee off which I didn't mind ,therefore the delivery chap said we can't take the old sofa, so I spoke to a guy called malcom at salford shop who got high rate and became very ill mannered towards myself calling me a
" prick " so therefore he got a piece of my mind also he was threatening towards no apologies, Not the delivery guys fault doing there job with respect towards .So I said return the new one back to the shop. I visited the shop off where I spoke to calcium again on the phone he was very ignorant and rude again and swearing The chap and lady in the Swinton shop very professional with me and they phoned another member off staff at the salford branch for me called vicky she wasn't helpfull just said we don't accept sofas without fire labels .So I said but it's OK to sell me it without fire labels 18months ago which then would off been in 2023 illegal to sell ,Not one bit off compromise from these people at the salford branch about this situation therefore the helpful staff at Swinton offered me a refund, just last week I dropped off a washing machine over time various items off furniture for there charity, obviously there charity begins within the salford premises and definitely not for the paying customer I,e myself left high and dry and spoke to like trash off two off there staff members vicky and malcoum absolutely disgrace to be working within a association charity shop. Also I asked for there surnames names to complain to a higher level but was told no , so on that note be careful if you deal with the salford brand in all aspects .kindly chris grimes, Swinton.
I don’t understand the one star…
I don’t understand the one star reviews. We have to congratulate and cherish any charity helping the homeless. I have donated two items, they came checked them and took them away.No problems, the items were clean and in very good conditions.Having worked in a charity myself some people do not have a clue. The donations should be something that you would use yourself not something that you want to throw away. So anyone who complains should give a hard look at what they want to donate.
Emmaus saved Christmas!
I'm posting this review on behalf of my Mum and her partner, who are both in their 70s. They had ordered new sofas in September 2024 from SCS with "guaranteed" Christmas delivery. They were told the sofas would arrive today, 20th December, so arranged for Emmaus to collect their old ones yesterday, which they duly did.
Today, SCS have failed to turn up with their new sofas, without any communication, and have now told my Mum they won't arrive until at least 6th January! My Mum was distraught and in tears but SCS did nothing to help, refused to refund them and left them stranded with nothing to sit on.
My Mum rang Emmaus and explained the situation and by about 2pm this afternoon, they had their old sofas returned to them!
If only Emmaus could teach SCS about good customer service.
Thank you Emmaus!

Aggressive staff…. Norfolk and Waveny Ditchingham
Parked in the carpark and while I went to look in the electrical shop, before heading over to the main building, my husband stayed in the car park to have a cigarette. He wanted to stand out of the way so was stood in between 2 skips. He was rapidly and aggressively approached by a member of staff asking him what he was doing. My husband explained and again was aggressively told he couldn't stand where he was standing. Given that our car was parked right next to the skip we couldn't really understand the problem. And if it was a problem, was such aggression need? My husband really thought he was squaring up for a fight!
Their comprehensive approach to…
Their comprehensive approach to aid—encompassing food, shelter, education, and emotional support—is remarkable. I had the privilege of volunteering in their after-school program, where I witnessed firsthand the positive impact they have on children’s lives. The smiles on the kids’ faces as they learned and played were priceless. It’s heartwarming to see such dedicated individuals making a significant difference every day.
you're better off throwing your items in the local tip
Submitted an enquiry about some small shelves to donate. The initial email seemed to be friendly, and as soon as I sent photo's they ghosted me. A simple no thanks would have been more professional. This "charity" seems to be only interested in antiques and high end items rather than flat pack stuff as it seems.

I ordered and paid for sofa.Total charge £163.00 for sofa and delivery. Was old they deliver and I was happy to pay £23for delivery. I am a 72yr old woman. I was told by the lady who served me I would receive a phone call 1hr before delivery. Didn't receive a call. 3 guys came in their van and the driver who done all the talking asked where abouts outside I wanted the sofa left. I said I expected it to be brought inside as I had no way of carrying it in myself. I received a lot of verbal abuse from the driver who kept saying 'I'm homeless '. In the end they didn't even take the sofa out of the van. I went back to the shop in Cowley Oxford to complain about the abuse I received and felt it wasn't taken seriously. They said the driver was known to be very volatile. I asked why you would let somebody like that interact with customers....Didn't get any real answer. I will never set foot in one of these shops again and would definitely advise anybody looking to buy from any of these shops DONT.
Coventry
Coventry. Emailed them and was telephoned back and a collection arranged promptly. Two lads came to collect (Del & Rodney ) lol. Very polite well mannered and a sense of humour. Brightened my day. I only wish I had more things to give the charity. Keep up the good work and Thank You

Disgraceful behaviour from staff
Disgraceful, I won't deal with them again. I wouldn’t want the lad I spoke to in my home as he was so disrespectful, immature and unprofessional. Bearing in mind they probably deal with very vulnerable people that is a concern. I rang to donate some furniture in the Greater Manchester area, was asked to send some photos on Whats App, which I did. They replied with a collection slot between 12 & 2, I replied saying 12 was OK, but I needed to leave the property by 12.45. Or, they could come the following day. No reply. I rang to see if they were coming the following day, the phone was answered by a lad who was clearly having a laugh with the other staff (no issue with that as long as they deal with the call). He muttered Emmaus, when I explained about the collection he said it's probably on tomorrow's van, we're done for today. Before I could ask how I could check that he hung up. I rang back, again he was having a good laugh with the other staff, maybe about hanging up on me! He hung up again. I rang back again, no answer. I rang the Swinton shop to log my complaint, I was initially told to message my complaint to What’s App number I had just rang, I pointed out that the lad I had just spoken to would pick the message up, which was not adequate, it needed to go to someone more senior. The guy then took my details and said he would escalate to Jackie Smith. Let's hope Jackie does, I haven’t had a response yet. I will try the Mustard Tree, rather than let the furniture go to waste. Shocking.

They r very lovely people and thank you for all the things u to for all us and very understand for everyone
Absolutely appalling
Absolutely appalling. Didn’t turn up the first time, and then a week later came and said they didn’t need any more coffee tables (really good quality coffee table we’d paid £200 for). And sofa not sellable despite being in excellent condition with fire label.
Rude and dismiss behaviour. Someone could have really benefitted from these items. Call yourselves a charity?
