Lily Zhao from ecarz assured me that they would do a soft-application that would not affect my credit rating. This was a lie. When that supposedly ‘soft’ application came back with a much lower offer than I needed for a car, I thanked Lily and declined it, and went with CarConnect instead. CarConnect then informed me that Ecarz had in fact pinged my credit file, reducing my credit rating from good to average. When I told them this, they denied ever saying to me that the application would not affect my credit rating even though I have multiple text messages and emails of me saying how concerned I am that this might happen, and Lily assuring me that it won’t. Lily’s manager says that they stand by Lily on this. She never even spoke to me on the phone and never got my permission to access my credit file.

I’m shocked that they did this, when I explained multiple times that this was the exact scenario I wanted to avoid. I’ve filed a complaint with AFCA and will hopefully be able to have the black mark against my credit report removed.

Appalling company and terrible service and impossible to contact. It was closed when we arrived in Avignon on Saturday from the Eurostar to collect our car so we were stranded. We telephoned and told it was shut until Monday.
Telephoned from France to request a refund for the car and was told to contact the service department 'except there was no point as everyone had gone to lunch until 2:30 (it was nearly noon at this point) and nobody answers the phone in the afternoon anyway.'
Told we would be sent an email with a form to complete with all the details, which of course, never arrived.
I asked for the callers name who said 'all his details would be on the email' - which he didn't bother to send.

Useless company who appear to deliberately dissuade any form of contact. I booked and paid for a car in January, when I went to pick it up in August there was no car available. Ecarz wouldn't answer to phone to myself or the car hirer!
