Couldn’t run a piss up in a brewery
Couldn’t run a piss up in a brewery - if you want a microcosm of the disaster this country currently is, look to EMR. Overpriced, never on time, prone to cancellation, dirty, often poorly heated/air conditioned. No WiFi. Joke of a service. And we just allow it. Mind blowing. How much money did the shareholders make last year?
I was travelling from the North West to…
I was travelling from the North West to Skegness by train along with my 14-year-old grandson. We faced bad delays and missed the last train from Nottingham to Skegness. We were sent to Lincoln, and the station manager arranged a taxi to take us for the rest of our journey. He was caring and went out of his way to ensure we were looked after.
Today the universe gave us Chris
Thanks to Chris the train manager on the 13:35 from Kings Cross St Pancras to Nottingham 24/08/2026. His knowledge, experience and ability to engage with people helped turn frustrated faces stagnant on the platform into motion. Whatever the problem was causing delays and cancellations for northern travellers that day he was the answer ✌🏻

I want to thank the lovely lady who was working on the passenger assistance lounge who helped my disabled son. We had arrived at the lounge 30 mins before departure. The lady radioed through to say we had arrived. The time went on and i heard our traim being announced. I went back up to the desk as we were worried no one had come for us. The lady radio again to be told the train was no longer accepting wheelchairs on the train. My son is 6 so he was very worried this was our first trip using passenger assist. The lady behind the desk was amazing. She took us to the train and personally helped lift my son with me onto the train with his wheelchair. We had booked ramp etc and a wheelchair space. We later found that the disabled toilet was out of order and the train cannot run with this out of order. Without the lady behind the desk we would have been stuck. I did not get the lady name but the date was the 24th august 26. And the time was 18.02.
Phone and email contact grossly understaffed
A train from Dreby to London I was booked on was cancelled in July. EMR emailed me on 11 August to say £35 compensation had been paid, which it hadn't. There have been 29 emails since chasing it, mostly to contact@ and also to sales support, which uses maddening bots. Today I phoned and after a one and a half-hour wait was told I wasn't in fact due that amount but £6+. EMR customer (non) service is understaffed both in people and bot level. I see it scores poorly.
Do not travel with this organisation if…
Do not travel with this organisation if at all possible.
Their service is unreliable, overcrowded, toilets don't work, staff are often rude (thought some are charming, perhaps embarrassed by the organisation they work for).
They will not enter in to dialogue for complaints.
Not a way to run a railroad.
Sorry. But it's true.
Horrible
Horrible. Most people standing at the door and the corridors because many people would use seats for their luggage instead of keeping them in the designated spaces overhead. There is no way to pass through. In case of emergency, many people would perish.
Trains always broken or cancelled
I travel between Corby and London once a week and there is ALWAYS an issue. Train too short (so massively overcrowded), train cancelled entirely, train cancelled from Kettering, AC not working in hot temperatures, doors broken delaying journey - the list is endless. Get your act together EMR, this is just not good enough
The 10.12 from Nottingham to London on…
The 10.12 from Nottingham to London on 19.8.26. Far too hot and late making connection almost impossible. Apologising all the time. Need to allocate seats so that a realistic number of people are on the train. Your issues should not affect passengers.

Not fit for purpose travel 3rd world country chaos surprised these cretin managers don’t insist paying passengers sit on roof
Market harborough to derby total overcrowded couldn’t run-a market stall
Useless
They are late all the time and even with delay repay im getting £1.23 for a train being over 30 minutes late and on the way to catch the train today they delayed it by 30 minutes (no shock) so I left in time so I can get there with 10 minutes left and I get there and they knocked the time down by 10 minutes and departed. They seriously just do this for shits and giggles at this point. But they are quick to ask for a ticket after ignoring every complaint that's made for their poor service.

Excellent Customer Service
I travelled to London st Pancreas in August. The train was cool, comfortable and on time.
On my return journey. The train was delayed by 30 minutes.
All the railway staff were so helpful, polite and considerate towards travellers. I was very impressed by the customer service supplied at St Pancreas and on the trains. Y
Booked a train ticket on EMR
Booked a train ticket on EMR, waited, no announcement train is not coming or be late. Said there was replacement bus, no bus turned up, ended up taking a taxi for the distance. Out of pocket cost to me, EMR's Cost to them nothing.
This morning trains cancelled, late for work. Put of pocket Cost to me, EMR's Cost to them nothing.
Personally everything strives on investors shares and making money, not service and quality.
But we take it as usual and are proud of our British services.
Back in the 70s, the system was backwards you might say, but at least you got a train.
50 yes from now we we will still be struggling, while the world leaves us being. GREAT 👍🏽
What can be Done!!!
The message constantly repeats “If you…
The message constantly repeats “If you see anything suspicious, unusual or untoward, you should report it to British Transport Police, immediately!” Presumably that includes one of your godforsaken trains either not cancelled or running on time !!!! Why am I so stupid to keep using your awful service !

This must be Britain’s wirs train s Brice. Today the lifts failed at Sheffield and being disabled I struggled to get to my platform without any assistance to staff. I arrived at Mottingham at 1600 and they chucked u hi s of the Peterborough service because they could not sepearte the train parts. Then they made me walk the complete length of the station I limp and have a walking stick. Then they put me in amoo o their train bit chucked is all off when there was a n medical emergency on the platform. Then over to another platform where they again chucked is off in. Implore chaos no I boarded the 1840 but they chii I fled is off due to not having a senior conductor's

Booked to go to Lincoln on a day return…
Booked to go to Lincoln on a day return from Leicester today. You now have to change trains at Nottingham. Train from Leicester was 12 minutes late and train from Nottingham was 10 minutes late, not a problem. On my return trip train from Lincoln was late, missed my connecting train by 2 minutes. Waited for the next train which arrived at Nottingham empty. We all get on board, it was like a sauna. Sat there for 15 minutes then they tell all to get off the train is cancelled. Waited another 45 minutes for a London train stopping at Leicester.
My first trip to England
My first trip to England, from the U.S., and it involved two train trips on the East Midlands Railway. The best part of my interaction with EMR were the employees. They we so friendly and helpful. My trips were to Derby and Dover and the employees helped me understand how to travel to these destinations, how to purchase my tickets, and where I was to meet the trains. They took the time to listen to my questions and provide helpful information. The train trips to Derby and Dover were exceptional. I highly recommend the EMR for your travels around England.
