Mixed opinion on service.

I live on a mixed estate of private and community homes.

Some of the area is covered by Eastlight Community Homes.

These areas are often fly tipped and I regularly email or face book post them. They are slow to respond and slow to collect if they even collect it all.

Eastlight neglectful housing provider

I am extremely disappointed with Eastlight and their complete failure to address ongoing and serious issues affecting my safety and wellbeing.

Despite repeatedly reporting persistent noise complaints and drug use taking place outside my home, nothing meaningful has been done. I have provided evidence and raised concerns multiple times, yet the problems continue unchecked.

Even more concerning, a neighbour was allowed to install a camera positioned to record my front door. I raised this as a serious privacy issue and supplied evidence, but Eastlight failed to take appropriate action or properly investigate the situation.

The situation escalated further when neighbours began shouting abuse at me. This harassment became so severe that the police had to get involved. On multiple occasions, neighbours have banged on my door and shouted at me through my window while I have been alone at home with my son. This is intimidating, distressing, and completely unacceptable.

As a result, I no longer feel comfortable in my own home. I cannot even have my downstairs blinds open in case they start shouting abuse at me again, and I feel unable to leave my house if any of them are outside. No one should have to live like this.

What is most frustrating is that instead of protecting the tenant raising legitimate concerns, Eastlight appears to protect the very people being complained about. I have felt dismissed and unsupported at every stage.

A housing provider has a duty of care to ensure tenants feel safe in their own homes. Unfortunately, Eastlight has failed to uphold that responsibility.

I would not recommend Eastlight based on my experience. No tenant should have to repeatedly ask for help while feeling unsafe in their own home

The maintenance crew lacks proper…

The maintenance crew lacks proper training, with most of them being clueless and unprofessional. Although there's a complaints policy, attempts to use it often result in being talked over and dismissed. Call center representatives tend to be impolite, and the same problem often leads to multiple job calls. It’s reminiscent of the old saying about mismanaging a simple task.

Extremely poor housing association

Extremely poor housing association. Absolutely no care at all for tenants who make noise complaints. We have had a case open for over a year about noisy upstairs neighbours. We was told that nothing can be done. They defend the people making noise and don't even make an attempt at helping. For over a year we provided evidence, noise diary and recordings under their complaint form. We was then told they couldnt listen to our recordings due to a computer problem.
Abysmal.

Eastlight has an appalling reputation

Eastlight has an appalling reputation, I speak from experience as well, they lie to you, never call back when they say they will, they will make any excuse not to investigate any issues regarding antisocial behaviour. The office staff are so ill trained/experienced one department doesn't know what the next are doing, do not trust anything they tell you. Anybody who's worked for them or are one of their tenants, which ever you talk to will say the same. Appalling company that needs investigating. I've put the date as I cannot list its been a number of experiences over 3 years.

We're really sorry to hear that your experiences with us haven't been good and your issues haven't been resolved. Other residents have also told us that it's frustrating not having one main contact to liaise with to get issues resolved (that issues get passed between various departments), so, this winter, we're launching a new approach whereby residents living in different neighbourhoods will have one main contact and team to liaise with - helping to make services faster and more responsive. In the meantime, you do have the option of making a complaint via this website form: https://www.eastlighthomes.co.uk/contact-us/feedback-complaints/ or by calling us, to help resolve your issues. Again, very sorry that you've had such frustrating experiences with us.

Worst company I have ever. I was trying to buy property from them. No clear information about home nearly 2 years with them but still not sold (that says a lot). Been pushed to buy it ASAP - when I have asked about survey no replay, email contact horrible waiting for responses ages. Laying that if I won`t reserve it there is 15 people waiting in queue but now it is again on sheared ownership selling website. When I have ask to be able run some check on house (electric, pluming etc) no response - suspecting some issues with this house. Finally I have gave up on it.
Please avoid at all cost and if you will decide to go for this house please run proper deep survey! On the end they my reservation fee accordingly to policy should be refund in 14 days - they wait till last day to refund - AVOID AT ALL COST THIS COMPANY!

I am not a tenant but have issues with some eastligt tenants gardens that back onto mine. I have reported this over the last 5 years and nothing is done. The area co-ordinator ignores emails and phone calls. They have never visited the properties to view or do any spot checks on the gardens. As long as they get their rent each month they don't care what others have to put up with.

Terrible housing association. Wanted to buy a share ownership property with them and the whole experience was nothing but stress and it ended up with no longer going ahead with the purchase. They chase you set unrealistic deadlines and expect you to move mountains when it’s not possible. Honestly do no do business with them

Don't deal with antisocial behaviour

Don't deal with antisocial behaviour. Seem to protect the troublemakers. Residents constantly flaunt housing rules and breach their tenancies but Eastlight never act. Allow elderly to be physically attacked. Well behaved residents moved on because living conditions and antisocial behaviour not dealt with. Why are tax payers paying to house troublesome people who are more protected than law abiding people. Much better when it was Colne housing. They had more backbone.

Absolutely shameful, zero safeguarding, no support for vulnerable tenants

I've had problems with Eastlight since literally day one (2020). When I first moved in, a male Eastlight electrician shouted at me as he didn't want to be working Saturday and tried to charge me for the emergency call out (I had no electricity at all & was literally told by an Eastlight rep to book an emergency repair). The encounter was really unsettling as I have CPTSD & autism. I've avoided booking repairs since which is unfair. Since then, I've made several complaints about antisocial behaviour including copious amounts of documentation including photos, videos & police incident numbers etc regarding tenancy agreement violations, tenant endangerment, resident abuse, animal abuse, resident harassment etc and been ignored. I made an official complaint and was promised check ins each week from the antisocial behaviour team but that never happened & I haven't heard from the person who promised to keep in contact with me, or the complaints team themselves ever since. Disgusting considering they're aware of the ongoing situation, and multiple neighbours have complained. Next step will be speaking to the housing ombudsman or the press as tenants are at ongoing serious risk of harm/stalking/harassment from aforementioned antisocial neighbour and Eastlight couldn't care less, despite the building having a history of arson attacks & antisocial behaviour. Lovely neighbours have been forced to move due to harassment & black mold, yet abusive neighbours continue to live here & harass people unchecked. Shameful. Zero tenant safeguarding, zero care for vulnerable tenants, failures every step of the way. Avoid if you can. There's a few kind people (benefits team are helpful) but they're well & truly outnumbered by the amount of careless/unprofessional ones. I hate leaving bad reviews but I really have to in this case as future tenants have a right to know what to expect. Our building also has a ton of accessibility issues (heavy non-fire doors, broken doors, inaccessible bins, only one entrance/exit etc), and emergency repairs that have been reported & ignored for literal months/years, AND asbestos (artex ceilings everywhere). If you're a wheelchair user or have accessibility needs you're gonna struggle in this building!

Poor customer service

Customer service is poor and not effective at communicating to relevant organisations when problems occur. Bureaucratic approach and managers avoid taking responsibility, leaving it to subordinates to deal with.
Very disappointing.

No joined up writing

No joined up writing, no cross referencing between complaints, and repairs, nobody ever gets back to you when they say they will and worst of all when they finally do they ask you what’s the problem after you’ve left messages for them telling what it is.
Left Hand Right Hand comes to mind ……and the band played on!
Hopeless nil point!

In the realm of housing and community…Eastlight Community Homes was nothing short of exemplary.

In the realm of housing and community services, the effectiveness and empathy of an organization can profoundly impact the lives of its residents. Eastlight Community Homes exemplifies this truth, having recently navigated us through a series of challenging circumstances with commendable professionalism and genuine care. Our journey, marked by multiple repairs and unforeseen floods, could easily have spiralled into a relentless ordeal. Yet, the response from Eastlight Community Homes was nothing short of extraordinary.

From the onset, every individual we had the pleasure of communicating with at Eastlight exhibited a level of compassion and understanding that was deeply reassuring. It’s rare to encounter a collective of people so uniformly committed to alleviating the stress and discomfort of those they serve. The myriad of issues we faced, including but not limited to, significant repairs in the upstairs bathroom, rectifications in the downstairs toilet, kitchen refurbishments, flooring overhauls, and various electrical fixes, were met with an unwavering resolve.

The standout feature of our experience, however, was not merely the resolution of these issues. It was the way Eastlight Community Homes managed the process. They kept us in the loop with regular updates, ensuring we were never left wondering about the progress of our repairs. This level of communication is a testament to their understanding that the heart of great service lies in not just solving problems but in making the journey as comfortable as possible for those affected.

Eastlight Community Homes didn’t just repair our home; they restored our peace of mind with a level of service that was, quite frankly, fantastic. Their ability to turn a series of potentially distressing setbacks into an affirmation of their commitment to their community members is laudable. This is not just a matter of completing tasks but doing so with a degree of excellence that sets them apart.

In summary, our experience with Eastlight Community Homes was nothing short of exemplary. Their blend of technical proficiency, empathetic customer service, and consistent communication underscored a level of dedication that deserves recognition. To the entire team at Eastlight Community Homes, a heartfelt well done. Your efforts have not only resolved our immediate concerns but have also reinforced our faith in the power of community-focused service.
