Duracell IS1000 batteries way below what's promised!

I bought a Duracell IS1000 charger that included AA batteries. I use them solely to power my Sony personal radio, which requires 2 AA batteries. Each day's use is usually 1 hr. They lasted weeks/months per charge -- and failed WAY LESS than the promised 400 recharges (maybe generously guessing 50 -- maybe) as they're are now indicating "error" since the red light blinks on attempt to recharge. I was tempted to buy more but thought why if these don't last anywhere near what they're alleged to provide. What a joke!

These batteries are not great

These batteries are not great, I use a lot of AA and AAA batteries and i find they are no longer lasting than other brands but at a premium price, I also find some tend to leak after a period of time, which has caused damage to various items of equipment, the MN1300 type also don’t last very long compared to other brands

Batteries Leak. Reputation gone down hill.

I used to swear by duracell but over the last 10 years the products have leaked and damaged so many of my appliances. Latest happened on the weekend where a £400 audio device that takes 10 D cells was found to have leaked and corroded after just 30 days. Where other manufacturers offer no quibble guarantees and even guarantee against leaks, Duracell customer service did not help.

Duracell batteries leak

I bought a torch that came with 2 AAA Duracell "coppertop" batteries. Use by date was March 2026. I put 1 battery in the torch (it only needs 1 battery) and the other stayed in its plastic wrapper. After about a year the one in the torch had leaked and destroyed the torch. I checked the unused spare - it was also leaking.
In the last 10 to 12 years no battery, even cheap chinese ones has ever leaked. Duracell are the most rubbish ones ever, and don't bother to tell them. After filling in their on-line form with photos the only response you will get is the standard "so sorry we will look into it". 2 months later they are still "looking into it" and my follow-up emails go unanswered. With such crappy products they must have a lot to "look into".

Absolute Scam Advertisement

Absolute Scam Advertisement
Advertising Batteries is hard and doesn't make much sense, but claiming your electric devices will get stronger by having a different cell is just BS and missleading.

Durcell Optimum Extra Life Extra Long…

Durcell Optimum Extra Life Extra Long Batteries are just BAD. I purchased 8, 8 packs. Unlike the traditional copper top you can't see into the package but after you open the box, pull out the vaccum sealed plastic container, its obvious they are NO GOOD. Batteries are leaking ACID and under the plastic everyone is crystalized with a white substance. Absolute trash! Contacted Duracell and the customer service person was as bad as the batteries, didn't care, was rude and acted as if my money I paid was nothing of value. I only wish I could post the photos so others could truely see the issue they want to ignore.

Another Faulty AA Battery

Like Mr Firth below I have an 8 pack of Duracell AA with the same date code of 03/2030. When I put one in a torch today the torch would not turn on. I immediately removed the battery and checked with a voltmeter - hardly any voltage at all. A batch problem?

Dont buy a Duracell torch - its not a Duracell torch ?

I bought a pack of three, expensive, pocket sized Duracell branded "500" model torches (Duracell printed in the casing and all over the packaging). First time I used them, they each last for about 5 mins and then fail. Chaninging batteries did not help. I emailed Duracell to complain - and they told me these torches were made by another company entirely and Duracell would not accept any responsibility and were not interested in my complaint. From this, I can only surmise that the Duracell branding is deliberately misleading - in other words a con.

These batteries are dangerous.

I bought a double pack of Duracell batteries from Aldi last year.
The pack included 8 x AA8 batteries and 8 x AAA8 batteries.
I used 2 of the AA8 batteries in our 5 month old granddaughters toy today, which we keep in her cot because it plays a lullaby, however the toy never came on, when I took the batteries out again and one of them had popped at the top and black liquid came out over my fingers.
It’s only when I went back to the pack to look at the other batteries that I can see most of them are leaking.
The date code on these batteries is 03/2030.

I no longer have my Aldi receipt so I can’t return them, I’m more angry than anything else because as I say I was using these in a young babies toy.

I have kept these batteries in a safe place in case someone wants to see them.

Duracell Not all are the same !!!

Bought a Duracell 395 watch battery when the one in the watch a Renata battery that had lasted over 3 years in a Tissot watch, the Duracell was the most expensive battery but given that I was looking at the so called best I decided regardless of the price I’d buy it

Fitted the battery and it failed after just 3 months and was disappointed but I thought things happen so purchased a further Duracell battery to replace the battery that only lasted 3 months

What a mistake I made and guess what, the second Duracell battery has just failed after again 2 months

How can a non Duracell battery last over 3 years and a Duracell battery only 3 months???

I was shocked to find a review on batteries in that only a certain range on the Duracell battery range is forwarded to undertake the durability tests and further shocked that Duracell is not classed in the watch battery class

Not only are they not classed they are not even considered the best value to purchase given the cost but are the biggest advertisers by far

Perhaps that’s why they’re so expensive

Will fit in the watch what was fitted to start with a Renata 395

Duracell quality is now a joke as three…

Duracell quality is now a joke as three triple A batteries lasted at best an hour in a small Defiant brand flashlight. Previously I had used some Kodak batteries bought on clearance last year and they were good for the month, probably 10-15 hrs.
I've used Duracell most of my 65 yrs., but will not be buying them again. Very disappointed.

Although their batteries are built to last, it's quite costly, I suggest using rechargeable batteries that way you will save a lot of money. I used to buy the conventional batteries but now I save tons by using rechargeable.

DO NOT BUY FROM DURACELL

Dreadful company considering its size!

bought an Apple Mac battery just over a year ago which now lasts about 1-1.5 hours whilst using unplugged and surfing the Internet. it also had to go back about a month into owning it to be replaced but again this replacement was just outside the warrantee.

emailed expressing my concerns and got through to Meg C who has no customer services skills or empathy clearly! they also apparently do not have a complaints department... Duracell , no complaints department really ??!

Turns out after waiting sometimes over 10 working days for a response that a 'director' will be in touch. five days on still nothing. im disgusted with the service from such a commercial giant to be honest. I thought I would pay 4 times the price of an eBay battery and it has lasted likely less time than a cheaper equivalent!

absolute joke. NEVER shopping with them again .

Duracell batteries leak …

I am fed up with Duracell adverts on TV Which recommended, my experience is firstly all batteries should be leak proof but not Duracell, when my tv remote failed I opened the battery compartment it was full of white muck from the batteries, same on a portable radio torch, Wii, Cordless door bell after a month failed it was caused by faulty Duracell batteries although they measured 1.5v failed on load.
