Ferry cancelled but never informed. Ruined our overseas trip.
Cancelled ferry but not informed. We turn 70 this year ,arrived at port to be laughed at by ferry staff. Have photos. Zero support online and we missed 3 nights in Coron and 2 paid flights to next island. My refund note from MF states I cancelled ferry so do not qualify for insurance. Be very careful if booking from Australia.

I have booked with Direct Ferries several times and have always had a very good experience. The website and the app both work smoothly and are very easy to use. Booking is simple and straightforward, and it is convenient to view all the details of the trip afterward.
Everything is clear and well organized. I honestly have nothing to complain about and will definitely continue using Direct Ferries in the future.

We used DF over the years in different parts of Europe. Always correct service. No problems.
Really bad service
Really bad service - rescheduled us onto the wrong ferry without our consent and later turns out that the actual booking was a different time from what they claimed. They have also no customer service in local time zone. Basically we are stuck at the ferry terminal.

This company is a big mess
This company is a big mess. End of last I tried to get info about my ticket. Had to go back home very urfent. Got no info. Via an agent! Adam etc I got info that there was a cancellation. Therefor I had to make a new booking. Lost a lot of money. No communication possibility DF. Very very frustrating. This was not the first I had a problem with DF. Will not book via this company anymore. My advise: book directly via the Ferry companies itself.

Fixed error after complaint
Initial review 1. I have now edited this review after I received a positive response after a complaint. Therefore I have changed review to a 3.
Original: I booked a return Uk to France ferry. 2 weeks later I decided to extend the trip, so decided to amend and extend the booking. I went onto DF site and saw a cheaper price being offered for the dates I wanted to change to. A screen stated I would get a stated amount refund for the difference of £152 from what I paid originally to the account from which I paid. I was asked to pay an amendment fee, which I did. I then received confirmation of new dates and original price with booking fee. I contacted chat facility and the was asked to prove a DF screen shot showing refund amount ! I advised I could create a new booking with the changed dates at the price. I asked them to honor booking and I received was a blunt sentence and no apology just say we do not do refunds. I am now trying to complain and as they are not an ABTA member I hold little hope. Beware even amendment fee stated £15 plus change in fare price. My change was quoted at a lower price and amendment fee £40
UPDATE
After DF response to my post and another response saying I was not entitled to a refund for difference in ferry change times, I received a separate communication from DF. DF did a technical review of my web session and change request and stated that there was a refund message displayed and yes I was entitled to a refund of £152 for change in ferry dates. DF apologized for error and refund approved. Therefore, thank you to DF to listening to a valid customer complaint and actioning this in a timely manner.

easy to book, fast confirmation and for a reasonable price; realize that for early booking your passport expiration date should still be valid.
better pricing for LeShuttle trips
DF as modern 3rd party platform offers better pricing for LeShuttle trips than at LeShuttle site themselves.
Also initial(!) communication around booking is very clear and thorough.
Communication from DF for shorter round trips is a tad 'too thorough': we received the return-trip notification a few days prior to the initial departure for travelling towards our intended destination! lol
When checked in earlier/later at the Eurotunnel station for a different train though, this is not communicated back by LeShuttle to DF, so original DF trip details stay unchanged although taken a different slot for a later/earlier train based on actual checkin times.
Nor is it possible (yet) to add DF bookings (afterwards) to our LeShuttle accounts. Both seem a dependency of 3rd party booking-services, like DF, on the inflexible legacy systems of LeShuttle.
Fazit: DF pricing and (initial) communication for Eurotunnel journeys is a solid recommended alternative booking-service.
Don’t trust this company
Don’t trust this company , they will take your money without booking and then later on when you made plans they will tell you sorry we cannot book it from company we tried so kindly book it with service provider directly instead of using them.
