10 days later I still haven't received any contact nor refund for out-of-stock items. I've reported Digidirect to the ACCC with evidence, because this is a scam.
This is the second time I have placed an order with you, had full payment taken immediately, and then received a delivery that is missing critical items with no notice that anything was on backorder or pre-order.
In my most recent order, you took my money, shipped part of the order, and only after I contacted you did I find out essential components were unavailable.
Those parts are required for professional videography work, and now a live project is at risk because I don’t have the complete equipment I paid for.
When I called, I was told I should “ring next time and check availability.” That is not an acceptable answer.
The responsibility is on your business to clearly disclose stock status before taking payment. If something is on backorder or pre-order, that must be made obvious at checkout. Taking full payment without disclosure and shipping partial orders is misleading and unprofessional.
This has now happened twice. At this point, if I continued buying from digiDirect, it would be my mistake for trusting a process that has already failed me multiple times.
You are happy to take money instantly, but not transparent about stock availability. That puts your customers’ projects, deadlines, and reputations at risk. For professionals relying on time-critical equipment, this is not a small issue.
I will not be purchasing from digiDirect again, and I am extremely disappointed that this has occurred twice.
Paid for express shipping (1-3 days) on an item shown as in stock. Days later, I was told it’s actually out of stock with a 3–4 month wait, while the website still displays misleading delivery estimates.
You’re then directed to email customer support, who don’t reply.
Charging for express delivery on unavailable stock and ignoring customers is deceptive. This business operates like a scam. Completely untrustworthy.
Just like a lot of other people on here, I spent a small fortune on something from diginotdirect. After I paid for it I received an email saying it's not in stock and to contact them for availability. You can't contact them. They do not answer emails, even though this is how they ask you to contact them. Three emails sent with no reply. I want to cancel the order but there are no instructions on how to cancel on their website. This is a straight out scam. They sell you products they don't have, then take your money and sit on it earning interest until you ask for a refund. I'm reporting their behaviour to the company that supplies them their product.
I purchased a Shure microphone from digiDirect in late December after both their website and my invoice confirmed the item was in stock with a 6–9 day delivery estimate. A Google product listing at the time also showed the item as available.
Only after payment did digiDirect advise that the product was actually on backorder, with no stock anywhere in their stores and no confirmed arrival date. Despite this, their website continued to display the microphone as “in stock” with short delivery timeframes.
I was later told the microphone had been discontinued, and was offered an alternative model instead, yet the original product listing remained active and marked as available.
After multiple follow-ups, I requested cancellation. On 19 January, digiDirect confirmed in writing that the order had been cancelled and refunded, stating the funds would appear within 2–3 business days.
It is now the 27th of January, and the refund has still not been received.
Key issues:
• Item sold as available when it wasn’t
• Delivery terms changed after purchase
• Conflicting explanations from staff
• Website continued advertising stock
• Refund promised but not processed
This experience has been frustrating and time-consuming
I’ve never experienced customer service this poor from an e-commerce retailer before. The product I received was faulty and will not hold a charge. I needed it for business and was on a tight deadline.
I emailed support and received no response. I also called, and the representative said they would forward my issue to the support team, but I still haven’t had a helpful resolution. I have no confidence in their after-sales support. I can’t recommend buying from DigiDirect if you need reliability and timely support.
I placed an order totalling $3,213.45 and only after completing the purchase was I informed that one or more items were unavailable. What is particularly frustrating is that it is never specified which product is awaiting stock, either at checkout or in the follow up email. There is also no estimated timeframe for availability or shipping, only a vague “to be advised”.
On top of that, the message feels entirely auto generated. It does not even include my name, which is disappointing given the size of the order and gives the impression of very low care or attention to the customer.
Had the stock issue been clearly stated at the time of purchase, or had it been clear which item was unavailable, I could have made a more informed decision. As it stands, I have no clarity on what is holding up the order or when I can realistically expect delivery.
Clearer communication, transparency around stock availability, and a more considered customer response would significantly improve the experience.
Purchased lens said in stock, received email saying it wasn’t and would take 4 weeks. I sent multiple messages and emails.. it’s been 5 days and nothing. I won’t be buying from them again. Poor service. Fingers crossed I get a refund.
digiDirect have the best prices. The website is well designed with lots of information on their products. My purchase was easy and delivery swift.
The staffs in Parramatta store are very kind. Helped me a lot with in-store purchases and choosing camera accessories.
Ran into communication issues initially but they were eventually resolved to my complete satisfaction.
Customer service is very poor couldn't contact to discuss issues with order emailed a number of times with no response called was on hold for a very longtime only to be told by automated message to leave name and number and I would be called back then took 2 days to be called back then once I was contacted I was told order was on hold waiting items that are on back order, overall very poor experience and probably won't be ordering online again
I emailed to inquire about the item I ordered because it didn't arrive, but I didn't get any response.
Late November I purchased a new camera and lens. A couple of days later I recevied an email stating that the camera was out of stock (just the camera) and I had to wait 2-3 weeks. The camera came in about 2 weeks later and was dispatched. When I received it, no lens. I contacted them to find out where the lens was only to be told that they'd also run out of those. I would have thought that after taking my almost $3000, the lens would have been put aside for me while the camera (which wasn't listed as out of stock when i bought it) came in. No. I had to wait weeks more. We contacted the chat and a staff memeber said he found one in perth and promised me it was mine. No, that fell through too. It took me until early January to be able to use my purchase when the lens finally arrived. Since then I have tried to obtain a proper tax invoice from digidirect so that i can claim my Fujifilm cashback, Of course, no reply. A bloody useless shop to deal with.
Top customer service. Went in to digi to see if they would match a price from a competitor shop over east, which was quite a good deal. Didn't expect them to match it, but after 5-minutes it all got approved and I walked out with my lovely Canon R1.
I actually ordered the item I wanted online, but then needed to make a trip into Melbourne the next day. It was no trouble for the folks in the Elizabeth Street store to convert my order to an in-store purchase. This is part of the flexibility of having both an online and physical store. I've bought several times from Digidirect and I find their prices match or are close enough to other online stores. I strongly encourage buying from a company that maintains stock, and a store where you can walk in and have an old school discussion about something you are planning to buy, plus actually handle the goods before buying. Keeping folks like this in business is important, especially for something like photography where people often don't know exactly what they want to buy and count on informed advice before purchasing.
Digidirect has always provided a fantastic service and will continue to use them
I have purchased a few products now with digiDirect and have been pleased with their prompt service and delivery , they are very competitive price wise also.
