CROOKS

CROOKS! Beware – Took Our Money and Never Delivered!

We placed an order with this company, only to find out a few days later that they had gone into liquidation. Despite multiple attempts to contact them, we have received no response. Our purchase was made before any bankruptcy announcement, and we have now lost over £2,000.

It is unacceptable for Whoopah to take money from innocent customers and then disappear without any resolution. They need to do the right thing and address this properly.

During a conversation, David promised that if I remove the previous negative opinion they will return the money.

From Hope to Despair

When I posted my earlier review, David was very quick to reply on this site. His reply, that I would hear from their legal representative soon about a refund gave me hope that my money would be returned. This is the public impression he wanted to give to other readers of the reviews. Not long after I had an email from him where he specified that the refund would be a matter for the court and I would hear from them - I still haven't. The assets of the company have been taken over by another which is not responsible for the debt. This means that for people like me (and it seems from trustpilot there are a few), who placed orders between the original receivership and the transfer of the assets on 28/09/2024 and have not received their goods, the only way to get our money back will be if the Commercial Court somehow finds enough money from the original company to repay us. This is where my despair comes from.

Whoopah should support their clients!

It would be less than 1 star if possible. Like many of the customers below, we too were misled and scammed of our money. The purchase was made well before the bankruptcy was announced, we made many attempts to get information about the purchase that were ignored and now we are out $4k! Whoopah owes it to customers to make good on our purchases.

I am writing regarding an order HF8YEU9R3 I placed just prior to the official announcement of your liquidation. Unfortunately, I have yet to receive any updates on the status of my order or payment, which has left me feeling deeply concerned and frustrated.

I am finding it difficult to understand how orders were still being accepted with knowledge of the impending liquidation. This purchase represents a significant amount of money that I spent years saving, and the current lack of communication has left me feeling uncertain about the next steps.

I kindly request clarification on how you intend to proceed, as well as confirmation that I will be refunded. Any response would be greatly appreciated, as it would provide me with the necessary reassurance moving forward.

Three months, no refund and no response

I desperately wish I had come across all these terrible reviews sooner because it would have saved me from purchasing something from Design Market.

I purchased a light fixture for nearly £500 earlier this year. It was only when I myself enquired as to the whereabouts of my order was I notified by David that the light had already been sold to someone else and I would be getting a refund. A frustrating situation but fine… it has been over three months and I have not received my refund. After following up several times and confirming my bank details, I was told that the financial team would contact me… this has not happened. And now I am not receiving any responses to my emails at all.

I do not know how many more times I will have to email before receiving my money. David if you see this, please issue my refund immediately. I need my money back; this is completely unacceptable and constitutes theft.

not to be trusted

I do not understand that Design Market is still in business. To us as dealers, we do not care what the situation is at this moment, all we can tell is that after more than a year we still did not receive the payment they owe us and we keep hearing negative reports from dealers around us. They lied to us dealers about their financial problems and kept on doing business filling one hole with the other.

We no longer sell on Design Market but I do believe it is important for everyone to know that this is a company that can't be trusted.
To the Design Market team: you know what you owe us.
Just pay.
You will probably try to rapport this review like they tried before, but we are only sharing truths and will continue to do so until we and our colleagues and our customers have received what they owe us.

Still not trustworthy, unfortunately

It surprises us that Design Market is still in business. I don't care what the situation is at this moment, all I can telly you is that after more than a year we still did not receive the payment they owe us and we are backed against a wall as there is nothing more we can do. Whenever we hear from them, they tell us how they are trying to resolve their financial problems. But the fact that we receive no communication makes us feel like they are more busy keeping their head above water than actually resolve the core of the problem: dealers like us that never got paid. We no longer sell on Design Market but I do believe it is important for everyone to know that this is a company that can't be trusted. Usually, after a review like this, our employee gets an angry call or we receive another angry e-mail. Sometimes they ask for the invoices (again). So to the Design Market team: you know what you owe us by now. Just pay up. They will probably try to rapport this review like they tried before, but we are only sharing truths and will continue to do so until we have received what they owe us.

*EDIT* Not a scam!

UPDATE: I was not scammed! Very happy to be proven wrong. After posting here and on several other channels, I was able to get in contact with Design Market. The communications were somewhat confusing — on different channels, I was told that I’d get a refund or that my order was still being processed. Eventually David called me and assured my order was coming but the supplier was on holiday hence the delay. He promised to provide a tracking number that week, which never came, but about two weeks later my order showed up! Design Market does NOT appear to be a scam but rather a legitimate (albeit disorganized) business. David, if you see this, I would recommend providing tracking info to people and accepting credit cards to help ease concerns when orders are delayed. Customer service was good at the end of the day.

I unfortunately stumbled on this Trustpilot page after I had placed an order and sent $944 via bank transfer. After my payment was confirmed, I never heard anything about tracking or shipping - it's been several weeks now and I've reached out multiple times via email to understand when my items will be shipped, with no response. I wish I had seen this website earlier because I'm now thinking I was scammed. I am really sad because the tables I intended to buy were beautiful - I thought the bank transfer requirement seemed fishy but I took a risk and it did not pay off.

David, if you see this, PLEASE give me a full refund!!! Otherwise I will be forced to report this website to the Better Business Bureau.

DO NOT BUY - BEWARE

Do not purchase anything from this company. Design Market is a scam.

Update: I have received a refund after 4 months of emails. Design Market pretended to ship, saying they had called my number when they had not (even after confirming my correct phone number), said my address was invalid, sent me a fake shipping notice, avoided questions, avoided my requests for a refund, blocking me on social media - any excuse to not actually send the item or return my money. It was only after I started reviewing them everywhere and personally naming an individual.
David ended his last email to me telling me “to relax”- I am certainly relaxed now I have my money back and never have to deal with you again :)

Avoid!

We bought a table and on the website it says the price includes import tax and duties to the UK. I then received a Fedex bill for the duties. I have been trying to contact the company since March. 2 months later I received an email asking me to send a copy of the bill in May which I did and again no response. I have emailed so many times. Meanwhile the bill has been passed to debt collectors. It is fraud as others have said. So sad that companies like this exist.

You should never buy furniture here

You should never buy furniture here. I ordered a sideboard end of April and paid the sum of € 2.500 in advance as requested.
It turned out the website was outdated and the sideboard no longer available.
I have been waiting for my refund now for 2 months. You cannot reach designmarket by phone and several emails were ignored or not answered correctly.
This is very unprofessional and fraud. I will involve a lawyer now.

No lamp and no Money

I bought a lamp in November 2023, and as of today, 21.06.2024, it still hasn't arrived. They didn't answer the phone or reply to emails for months. What was my surprise when, about a month ago, they answered the phone and soon afterwards I received an email saying that the company was in a receivership! I was left without the lamp and without the money. I had to hire a lawyer and filed a complaint with the police. It is a shame! How are they still open when they say they are bunkrupt?!?

I ordered a sofa in April and I am…

I ordered a sofa in April and I am still yet to hear when it will be delivered now almost two months later. Looking at these reviews I have little hope and wish that I had looked on here before I ordered.

The phone number provided doesn’t work and I am yet to hear back from them about what has happened. The money has been taken out from my account but there is no other information on the website than this.

If they have gone into receivership then the website should be taken down and they should stop taking orders. Avoid at all costs!!

How is this website still online?

How is this website still online?? We are still owed money, all our items have been marked sold on their platform without our knowledge and communications have simply stopped. Our reviews are being removed, my comments on social pages are being removed, we have even been blocked. They are desperately trying to keep up the charade but it seems like common knowledge now that this company can not be trusted. I hope anyone looking to buy takes all the warnings here on trustpilot seriously.
