I had an eye test at David Clulow Harrods. I have no complaints about the optician who carried it out.
The eye test was like in any other optical store. But the biggest surprise was receiving the prescription for new lenses. The optician manually draw a table on piece of paper in order to fill it in with the information. At first, I thought these were some notes she would later enter into the computer, but no — that was the prescription for me. Is this professional? This must be some kind of joke!! An eye test for £80, overall twice as expensive as in other places. The prescription looked like I had written it myself, and I was wondering whether to show it at the optical studio where the lenses in my glasses were supposed to be replaced.

Had great service along the whole process from frame to lens selection. Clinton was great help and aided with the styling service and the all their plans to choose the best one for me.
The Loughton branch is my local and I’ve been going through the process of fitting contact lenses for the first time. The whole team, in particular Andrula who has helped me from start to finish, has been extremely patient and encouraging! It was a challenging process for me but they got me to a place of confidence and I’m so grateful, thank you to the whole team.
They have been my optometrist for at least 5 years. I returned this week to get a quote as my vision has declined and asked for my prescription to be sent to my email. The lady serving me is either racist or classist and I can tell that she assumed I could not afford to be there and asked if I had been there for testing twice, even though I clearly gave her my details and she can see my details on the system. It was the Kingston Branch. She did not forward my prescription as I requested and was saying anything at all just so I would hurry and leave. Fyi I am a Barrister. I hope she is fired because there should be no place for prejudice or racism particularly in health care.

Been going to the Loughton branch for around probably 20 years, because for me they are the best. The staff are always so friendly and helpful, which makes the whole experience a pleasure.
I can always rely on and trust their judgement when trying on and choosing new frames and/or contacts.

They have an excellent choice of frames and lenses, and, with their purchasing plan, buying a new pair of glasses is straight forward, especially with the cost being spread over a couple of years.
Juli and Gina were both amazing at helping me pick out my glasses and contact lenses. I felt comfortable letting them know exactly what I needed and wanted and would come back again and again for their lovely customer service. I recommend anyone looking for glasses or contacts to visit this store, as they were really friendly but also very professional and good at their job. Thank you :)

I had an extremely disappointing experience at the David Clulow Opticians store at John Lewis, 300 Oxford Street. What should have been a simple lens replacement turned into a two-month ordeal involving incorrect prescriptions (twice), damage to my glasses by staff, and repeated delays.
I was promised a new replacement frame, which was not initially honoured, and when it was finally provided, it was also damaged. The store manager was unhelpful, gave inconsistent information, and showed a lack of accountability throughout. Unacceptable service.
I used to trust David Clulow, but after this experience, I have completely lost confidence and would not recommend them.
Great friendly service. Really happy with the 2 glasses frames I chosen, they look super stylish.

Just visited the Tunbridge Wells store for an eye exam but was bumped in favour of a “husband and wife” appointment. Not impressed, this was at 3pm on bank holiday Friday. I asked why they had not contacted me and was told that they did not know why. Very unprofessional.

The sales team and optician were great and there is a broad selection of classes. After sales was poor. I was told the glasses would be two weeks and two weeks later it took me 15 mins to establish they aren’t and no timeline was provided and the interaction was, frankly, rude.

Fantastic service from start to finish at David Clulow.
From my eye test through to choosing my glasses, the whole experience was excellent. The team were personable, highly knowledgeable, and incredibly patient while I tried on different frames.
I felt well looked after throughout, and nothing was too much trouble. A genuinely positive experience — I would highly recommend.

Today 25/3/2025 I visited the David Clulow branch in Bluewater. Wow I couldn’t fault the service. The team was very welcoming, and Louisa at the front desk was just a ray of sunshine and made me feel comfortable without being pushy when I booked my eye test.
I also had a great experience during my appointment with Maria, my optician. She was on top of her game, listened to my concerns and like a true professional took the time to explain everything clearly making the whole visit smooth from start to finish.
The service was excellent, if I was a business owner, these are the people who I’d employ.. I’ll definitely be returning to buy my glasses there — truly a 5-star experience!

Please do not trust this company. I was so let down by them and instead of them owning their part in the loss of my glasses, putting minimal effort in to resolve the situation. They could not care less they had lost my glasses. Being pushed to one department back to the next, no one wanting to help resolve the problem. I did not give up as I felt so disregarded and let down by them and I just of them losing my glasses and I had to swallow that loss of an expensive pair of glasses. Thankfully in the end they resolved the situation which I am grateful for. They lied about the information they gave me, forgetting that I had someone in the shop with me that heard every word. Was such a shame as I thought this company would be so much more than it is.
