Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 63 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Consumers frequently struggled with severe prescription delays and missed deliveries that left vulnerable patients without essential medications for extended periods. Reviewers also found the customer service extremely unhelpful, describing frustratingly long hold times, unreturned calls, and consistently rude staff members. Some reviewers were satisfied with individual employees, noting that certain staff members across the company were polite, professional, and ready to assist. A few consumers additionally mentioned positive experiences with responsive support teams when setting up specific medical care programs and managing treatments. Though these positive encounters occurred, the overwhelming majority faced persistent communication barriers with the pharmacy.

CVS Specialty Customer Care (or lack thereof)

I followed up on a CVS Specialty email by calling the number provided. The person who eventually answered the phone told me he had to transfer me to someone else. I suggested that CVS place the correct number on following emails to avoid wasted time. He said he couldn't do that. I said "it sounds like you don't give a shit what service CVS provides." He said: "I don't."

Long on-hold times and constantly move you between representatives who are rude and seem to have zero knowledge. Failed to complete basic tasks like setting up an account, finding a medical provider, or checking in on the status of a prescription.

Baffling how poor they are at communicating. Avoid at all costs.

If I could give them 0 stars I would

If I could give them 0 stars I would. I've been waiting almost a month for a necessary medication. My doctor sent in the prior authorization right away. They sent it in a second time with CVS Specialty started messaging me about it. CVS Specialty ignored it. They've been updating my records *daily* to claim the script was only sent in that day. When I questioned that, I was told to "disregard" it as they were still waiting for the prior auth - the one that they've had for almost a month.

Since receiving mExtremely Unsatisfying Experience with CVS Specialty Pharmacyy prescription for…

Since receiving my prescription for Dupixent, dealing with CVS Specialty Pharmacy has been one of the most unsatisfying pharmacy experiences I’ve ever had. From the very beginning, the lack of coordination and inconsistency was overwhelming.
After I initially called to inquire about my prescription, it triggered an excessive number of phone calls from CVS Specialty. I received multiple calls simply to confirm the same order, followed by calls from billing informing me that I had a $2,900 copay. They were very quick to push me off to the Dupixent copay assistance program instead of offering any real help themselves.
Once the copay assistance was approved, the calls continued—this time from a pharmacist and then a nurse—before I even received the medication. The sheer number of calls for a single prescription was excessive and frankly ridiculous, especially when compared to the lack of responsiveness at a regular neighborhood CVS pharmacy. At my local CVS, if you have a question about a medication, you’re required to leave a message and wait for a callback—yet CVS Specialty seemed more than capable of calling me repeatedly when it suited them.
The most disappointing part came when I attempted to refill my second dose. There was an issue with the copay coverage, and this time I received not a single phone call from CVS Specialty Pharmacy. No one reached out to offer assistance, explain next steps, or even check whether I received my second dose of an essential medication.
The stark contrast between the barrage of calls for my initial dose and the complete silence during my refill issue says a lot about the level of care and compassion this company provides. Once the prescription was processed the first time, it felt like I no longer mattered. For a specialty pharmacy handling critical medications, this level of inconsistency and lack of follow-up is unacceptable.

CVS Caremark Specialty should be shut down!

My employer health insurance requires using CVS Specialty Pharmacy for certain medications. I am forced to obtain Xolair, an asthma biologic injection, from this company. The medication is very expensive and I cannot afford to purchase it myself, or I would. Because of CVS Specialty's complete, utter incompetence, I have spent 6 months battling with them to get my medication delivered, on time, to my asthma physician's clinic for a monthly injection. Every month, there is a different or recurring problem. This company cannot be trusted, and I believe they deliberately cause delays to avoid coverage of expensive medications. Even Class Action lawsuit awards AGAINST this company have not stopped their mistreatment of human beings. I am literally not able to get my asthma medication and will not be able to continue treatment. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY IF YOU CAN!

They’re Horrible

They’re Horrible, CVS has made if difficult for me to get my life saving drugs,
They own my insurance company and cvs specifically pharmacy.
It’s now costing me more to get my medication from them and I can’t switch because they also owned the insurance company that I get through my job.
I hate it, they’re ripping people off, I’ve requested many times to switch pharmacy but they refuse or never replied to my request.

I use an Amgen copay assistance card to…

I use an Amgen copay assistance card to cover the cost of my Enbrel through CVS Specialty Pharmacy. CVS shipped my medication before billing the copay assistance card, which resulted in a $2,500 balance on my account.
This issue started in early February due to CVS having my last name spelled two different ways in their system. Since then, I have spent over 10 hours on the phone, including multiple three way calls between CVS Specialty and Amgen, yet the issue is still not resolved.
I have done everything correctly on my end. Despite providing all required information and repeatedly following up, the companies involved cannot seem to communicate or resolve this mistake. Meanwhile, I am left carrying the stress of a $2,500 balance that should never have existed.
I am a teacher, and I simply do not have $2,500 lying around. I am also in the process of buying an RV so I can visit my first grandchild who will be born soon, and this unresolved balance threatens to negatively affect my credit. Because of this situation, I have stopped taking my medication altogether, out of fear I will be hit with another massive bill.
This has been an exhausting, stressful, and disappointing experience. CVS Specialty Pharmacy needs better internal systems, better coordination with copay assistance programs, and more accountability when their errors place such serious financial burdens on patients.

Professional with clear, concise instructions

Although it took 3 communications with them to get my issue resolved, I had great interactions with all 3 employees (Mario M, Milo, and Kathy B.). Each person gave clear, concise instructions as to how to proceed and were very professional during a time when I was under great stress. They were all in the Benefits Verification Center at 1-800-571-3922 and I would highly recommend them if this happens to be your issue.

CVS specialty pharmacy where service reps just hang up if they cant answer your question

The main issue is you can't go somewhere else. I had the wrong medicine sent. When the medication was shipped to the CVS store for me to pick up, under name it said dead profile this meant it took 45 minutes for them to verify the package was for me then I got it home and the order was wrong, a pharmacist from CVS speciality said they fixed this but apparently they did not, so when I called a the service rep could not help they just hung up on me

Difficulty re-ordering after late delivery

A specialty medication which requires refrigeration was sent via UPS overnight air. It left Las Vegas on 3/19. UPS did not get the medication to my local UPS transfer point on 3/20 as planned. They tried to deliver it on 3/23 and I refused delivery. There is no way I'm going to inject a medication that has been without refrigeration for 4 days. I called CVS to discuss this with them. They told me it was my fault for not accepting the medication to test it's stability. Then, after nearly 40 minutes, they told me I could re-order the medication, but I needed to call back. I did call back and ended up back at square one and was told to call back tomorrow. Unfortunately the same thing happened two months ago. I'm tired of wasting my time on hold with CVS and not getting a simple answer to a simple problem. They are awful to deal with and do not respect their clients.

Awful customer service. Jasmine is no help at all!

Every month have issues ordering. Lately I had the unfortunate experience with JASMINE. Spoke to her on the 13th to order my meds. She said she will call and set up delivery and it was that simple. The reason it was easy is because NOTHING WAS DONE BY JASMINE. Called today, they saw that I talked to her on Friday. Waste of time having to call and get incompetent people, the callback to complain and almost beg for my medication to be sent. With all the bad reviews you would think they woukd try to change. Scary that these people are in charge of medication.

Copay assist nightmare

I have a copay assist to help me with cost of my medication. They say they are billing copay assist. Copay assist never gets the bill. Then, get one guy at CVS, a manager, who says it doesn't cover the cost of out of pocket expense. I said, always has before. Copay assist and others at CVS say it does. Yet, CVS says they submit and it gets kicked back. Copay assist has called with me 2x and it was supposed to be escalated to their team who deals with technology. Never happened. Had to just put the whole cost on my credit card. Then, I will have to submit to copay assist. Told CVS speciality that I need a receipt with National Drug code on it. They ask, is it for copay assist? I say yes. They send me a receipt 3 days later (via fax) and yet has no NDC on it. At this point, I do believe they are purposefully being unhelpful.

Absolutely horrible custom service and delivery of medications. If you are doing any specialty treatment or need time sensitive drugs, they will basically let you die or spend thousands of money to push you off your diagnosis. I had time sensitive medication to take, although they said it will be delivered overnight, it took 3 days to get to me! Absolutely absurd! When I called they blamed me for not calling them and said it was UPS fault, they did not want to take responsibility

My address was incorrect even after I called three times in a week to have them correct it

I had to call three times in a week, and they still got my address wrong causing a delivery delay. Each time I called I was told my address was updated; however it wasn’t. Today I called and the representative hung up on me. CVS as a whole has gone downhill. My local Cvs Pharmacy is just as bad and i’m over their rudeness. One pharmacy tech I talked to last week response to their mistake was and I quote “ I didn’t work yesterday”. There was no attempt to rectify the situation. No attempt to take ownership. I don’t care if you didn’t work yesterday you work today let’s find a solution to a problem. They clearly messed up on CVS Get your stuff together. I got much better service at Kroger pharmacy at least when they make a mistake they seem sincere and rectify it.

I would say I've been pretty ambivalent…

I would say I've been pretty ambivalent about CVS for my 34 years of life up until I was forced to use them. Unbeknownst to me, Walmart booted my cosentyx injection Rxs to CVS specialty pharmacy. All I got was a random text message from CVS in the middle
of the afternoon about it - not a call, nor
email. It said they would call me in a couple days... Almost a month later they called to be like "yo we have the Rx forever, what'cha wanna do about it?"

Didn't try to help find a local CVS, forcibly set up the home delivery - which you have to sign for.

didn't come at all at first bc they ran the wrong Rx - needed loading dose aka first dose, not maintenance doses. So I got it additionally late.

And I was almost late to work waiting on delivery. Luckily my sister was there to sign, as it came right after I left for work.

THEN THEY MADE MY SECOND DELIVERY LATE. Bc they failed to get the pre authorization again after messing it up the first time, making it supposed to arrive today, instead of yesterday, making the medicine less effective AND IM WAITING FOR IT BEFORE WORK AGAIN.

And when asked about it, I was essentially told to go f*** myself.

In terms of tracking it says "9:30am- end of day," essentially. so, anytime, who knows - the customer service agent was SOOOO surprised that's the only info I get.

Horrible service, but it is AMERICA, not really CVS, they exploit the problem & then say oh wellllllllll when you suffer due to THEIR mistakes.

My doctor and I did everything right, but they literally DO NOT CARE about you, your medication, your life, your job, your schedule.

Awful

Awful! They are refusing to let me refill 2 of my cf nebulized rx!
Back in August, they shipped a rx that I said I cannot afford without funding help. Now, they have taken me to collections and refuse to refill my other prescriptions! I have begged them to review the "recorded" calls to prove it is the fault of their representatives not mine. In the meantime, I am missing 3 prescriptions from my daily treatment!

CVS Specialty does NOT reschedule…

CVS Specialty does NOT reschedule delivery IF the scheduled date cannot be met. Blizzard across the NE today. Call from CVS Spec. she thought I called. She did NOT know why CVS Spec. called me, so I told her it was probably a delay in delivery. NO, WAY WORSE - my delivery would NOT have been rescheduled if I did not answer the auto call, tell her why I was called, AND tell her to reschedule it. This means if a patient does not answer that one auto call FROM CVS, the drug WILL NOT BE RESCHEDULED. Miss that call - NO DELIVERY. Phone out of power because of storm - NO DELIVERY. WOW. Negligence ?

Only right the first time

I have been getting my meds for 7 months, it's only come 1 time without issue. They lose the prescription. They don't call for the mandatory questions and today, they shipped me an empty pill bottle. Adding to the issue that they need a new prescription b/c they filled the last one. The one with nothing in the bottle that you shipped late b/c no one called me for the questions? Now I don't have my meds that I'm supposed to start tonight. They said it could be a few days and I may have to go back to my dr b/c the authorization is only good for 7 days, expiring today.
