Costco has gotten pretty bad

Costco has gotten pretty bad. It seems like manufacturers manufacture just for costco. A product that is more expensive somewhere else and cheaper at costco is also lower quality at costco. Also, their vitamins all have bad ingredients in them. What's the point in getting vitamins if they all have bad ingredients in them. If you want to get alcohol from costco you don't have to have a membership card. That is a plus. Sometimes the staff are rude and sometimes the staff are nice.

Like costco, poor cafe and rude manager (Haydock)

Like costco. However a lot of the stuff is overpriced and can be bought cheaper and you don't have to buy in bulk. The cafe isn't great, The ketchup and mustard machine constantly empty and needs to be cleaned more often same with drinks machine. Manager at the cafe is rude and unhelpful. They do have some great bargains but these are used to hide the overpriced bulk items

Pay To Be Treated Like A Number, And Not A Customer

I have been a loyal customer of the Loves Park, IL store since it opened 6 years ago. This morning, after some errands I arrived a little early, before 10am. I saw they were letting people in, so I scanned my card and entered, only to be told I was 8 minutes early, and would have to leave until 10:00, because they were only letting in those with an Executive Membership. I went back to my car, feeling like a scolded schoolboy, and resolved to stop shopping in the store from now on. Most businesses that actually value their customers would have given the customer a friendly reminder about their early entry policy, and allowed the customer to enter, especially since it was only a few minutes. I will continue to use the gas station, but the store has limited value to me, anyway, so I will not use it going forward.

I arrived at 9:40

I arrived at 9:40am unaware of privileged 9-10 shopping. I said to the employee checking membership, OK I'll wait until 10am. The employee said , you will have to wait in your vehicle.
I said if you don't want my business maybe I should cancel my membership. She said customer service is over there, Costco will allow you to do that.
We travel 2hrs to shop and normally don't arrive until after 10am.
I am convinced Costco and employees don't care about customers.

Don't bother looking online.

Costco's website is totally useless. It thinks I am near Seattle not Rockwall Tx. and i can't change it. Go figure. Also, when I tried looking at groceries it takes me to TV sets, appliances and you name it. Just go to a store is apparently what they want.

THIS IS A ZERO-STAR REVIEW:

THIS IS A ZERO-STAR REVIEW:

Although I've never dealt with Acer before, I did for the first time on Tuesday 10-7-25. I won't leave a biography of what happened but my friends laptop was under a one-year warranty from Acer and Costco. Being told by Costco's warranty department to send her laptop to Acer, she'd put the laptop inside a box, bubble wrapped it and sent it a few days before my arrival. At the FedEx drop off location, that box was then put inside another box. The laptop screen had gotten colored horizontal lines across it and that's why she'd sent it in.

It arrived at Acer via FedEx and the box was in a disgusting state with a broken screen. That was nothing to do with my friend. She'd completed her side of the arrangement.

On the evening of Tuesday 10-7-25 I'd spent two and a half hours on the phone, partly with Costco's warranty service with a gentleman by the name of Minall (sp). This conversation went around in circles and I had to explain to him four times what the situation was.

Acers rep Chris said that Acer would call back the next day. Nobody at Acer has ever called back!

The sad thing about this whole story is I've never heard of anybody having an issue with a return at Costco ever and this ended up being a complete nightmare.

That same evening and getting nowhere with the Costco warranty department phone call, I ended up calling somebody else in the Costco organization on behalf of my friend. That manager in a completely different state called the Costco store in Utah, where this laptop was originally purchased.

I was told that there'd be no problems going back to that store with the laptop, after it had been returned from Acer.

Two days later I went with my friend to this particular Costco with the laptop in a box and unopened from its return from Acer.

I wasn't impressed with Travis who worked at this Costco location at all and the time that it took him to sort this simple return out.

In fact it took Travis so long that in the end I called the original person who I'd spoken to at another Costco store 2 days beforehand. I then put that manager on the phone with Travis to verify with him what had been arranged.

The individual in this Utah location of Costco who'd been called 2 days before and had verified to my Costco contact in another state, said there'd be 'No problems' returning the laptop. This simple message was never passed on to Travis at the return merchandise department.

This was a 20 to 25 minute unnecessary ordeal and a complete waste of our time.

I'll never deal with Acer again and I think their customer service stinks.

As for Costco I'm very, very disappointed with this whole affair.

I had a terrible experience with…

I had a terrible experience with Costco. A customer service representative gave me completely wrong information about a promotion and told me to make a specific purchase, promising I’d receive a refund. I followed their exact instructions — but instead of fixing their mistake, Costco charged me extra, canceled my membership without notice, and now expects me to take responsibility for their error.

I’ve spent hours on chats and phone calls trying to get help, but every representative gives a different excuse. I trusted Costco for honesty and professionalism, but this experience showed me the opposite. I just wanted a simple resolution, not endless blame-shifting and frustration

No Installation Services

We ordered an oven from Costco.com. From everything written on the website, it seemed as if it would be delivered, installed, and the old one taken away. Not so! It was delivered. Driver said we'd have to make another appointment for installation. I got an appointment, but didn't receive a time for installation. I contacted them and was told the appointment was cancelled because they had no one in our area that did installations. Needless to say, we made an appointment to have it picked up and returned.

Poor packing

My order ended up spilling all over the box. They didn't pack the 6.6 lbs of Nutella properly, which caused everything to get damaged. I reached out to customer service, and they told me they would replace everything, so I'm okay with that. They mentioned that I shouldn't throw away the damaged items because I need to return it which is I think is a stupid idea as it could attract ants and bugs because of the spilled Nutella. They promised to call me in 5 to 7 days to arrange a pickup. I agreed to wait for them to collect it because I have no choice. They said they will charge me I don't return them. While they did replace some items, it was incomplete! Now, they want me to reorder and refund the items they didn’t send.

No $40 Executive upgrade shop card

I purchased a Gold Star membership online from one of those coupon sites for $65 and it included a $45 "shop card," which I later received by email. But when I went to the warehouse to get my Gold Star card, I was offered a $65 upgrade to the Executive membership and THAT would include a $40 shop card. I explained to the woman at the Customer Service desk that I was already getting a $45 shop card from the Gold Star membership, but she told me that had nothing to do with the $40 shop card for the upgrade and I plopped down another $65 plus tax. Over a month later, never receiving the $40 shop card, I contacted Costco on chat and was told that I had already received a $45 shop card and to check my junk email folder. I explained that the $45 was for the Gold Star membership and the agent was too ignorant or pig-headed to understand that $45 was a completely different amount than the long-standing $40 upgrade bonus. However, she was completely okay with me visiting the warehouse this coming week to cancel the whole thing for a full refund. I can hardly wait to go to the warehouse to be told I'm only entitled to the upgrade refund and that I don't even get to keep my Gold Star membership OR the $45 shop card that had NOTHING WHATSOEVER to do with my Executive upgrade. I was always a Sam's Club guy and it looks like I'll just have to drive an extra few miles to go there. Sam's Club has NEVER cheated me.

We were deeply upset by our recent…

We were deeply upset by our recent experience at this Costco location. My husband was denied access to the restroom unless we left our merchandise behind the register. When we raised our concern, two managers insisted this was “company policy,” but when asked for the written policy, they refused to provide it. I later searched online and found no such policy — in fact, I found the opposite.
When I pointed this out, the managers said it was “at their discretion” and told us we were not allowed to be upset about the employee yelling at my husband, even though it drew unwanted attention from other customers. They stated the employee “was doing the right thing” and that nothing would be done.
This experience felt discriminatory and humiliating. It has shaken our trust in Costco, and we are filing a formal complaint with corporate. We expect better treatment and transparency from a company that prides itself on customer service.

Poor Handling of a dispute due to fraud

After being a Costco member for 29 years, I have never had any complaints until last month, and my dissatisfaction was with Citi Costco Credit Card and the way they did not handle my dispute. There was a charge of $34.90 from a company named Hibozo that neither my wife nor I transacted with. I wrote them and explained this to them. They came back telling me that the charge is our responsibility and to deal with that company directly. I contacted them and the guy could not even tell me how it was that I was charged, just that they had the last two numbers of my credit card and my last name. All they could do was ensure that I would not be charged again. That is not satisfactory. I wrote back to Citi Costco and told them again that it was not my charge. They did not even offer to provide me with a replacement card since in my opinion, my card was compromised. My credit is excellent but what they are telling me is that they do not believe me, which is very insulting to me.
