Only your checked-in baggage is insured against loss. This isn't stated on the information sheet, which states that your baggage is insured against loss. This is a bit misleading.
The thing is, I wasn't aware that I wasn't insured for my belongings during the trip, you need additional insurance for this.

Be very careful when booking with Chapka, because everything seems great until you have a health issue and need medical assistance.
I started to feel very sick in Uzbekistan without knowing what it could be (my whole face swelled up, I had a high fever, and I couldn’t move my joints) in a city with more than 300,000 inhabitants — and that’s where my nightmare with Chapka began.
We contacted them for 3 days without any solution. We asked for doctors, taxis, hospitals, and their response — after an average wait of 12 hours and constant calls — was: "We haven’t been able to find any partners in the area." So after days of this, their only recommendation was to go to the public hospital, which I had already done, without covering taxis or anything at all.
After 3 desperate days, I had to book a flight back to Spain at my own expense, and I had to be hospitalized for a week due to the severity of my condition.
On top of all this, customer service was appalling, with an extremely arrogant attitude. When we called for help, their response was: “This is not an emergency line.”
So what is it for then?
Why do I even buy insurance for a destination if you don’t have any partners there?

The site is very easy to access. Regarding compensation, I haven't tested it yet and I hope not to. There you go 🙏
The company was very happy to take my premium but is making me jump through hoops and relying on irrelevant clauses in "small print" in their contract to contest a claim. Never again ...

I signed a one-year contract with Chapka Assurances (Cap Working Holiday), fully expecting coverage until September. Despite knowing my situation, they accepted my application—even though I’ve been in Australia for two years. However, they never provided me any notice of termination until I repeatedly asked for it. Eventually, they forced through an official termination letter stating my contract ends on February 3, but this notice came only after I had to demand it.
Even if they argue that I’m no longer eligible because I’ve been in Australia for two years, the fact remains that I received no advance warning. They knew from the start that my situation would end up in this position. Their lack of transparency and failure to provide proper notice have left me in a desperate and inhumane situation, especially as I am pregnant and now face the prospect of giving birth in Australia without any medical coverage.
I strongly advise anyone, especially expectant mothers, to avoid Chapka Assurances. Their disregard for proper procedure and compassion is completely unacceptable.

The online medical service is fine. The telephone service is hell. The online doctor told me that I had to visit a doctor in person. They only knew how to send me from phone to phone. They sent me to the emergency room when I just wanted to make an appointment. I had to pay 1000 dollars in advance because I am in Australia. What do I have insurance for? So hard to give me an appointment with a local doctor. Absolutely disappointed.

I would like to write a positive review, but I just cannot.
Very easy to buy, for sure, but once you need to get a refund: a whole nightmare! I called assistance at least 6 times and nobody is able to tell me what to do. Subitted a claim online and have been told to call the assistance.
Very unprofessional, very frustrating. I do not recommend this company at all, there are so many better options on the market!

Since Chapka changed from Europe assistance to AXA, the service is very disappointing.
My father was hospitalised at the end of September 2024 and I called to get some advice on how to get an anticipated return to be with him. It was an emergency so I needed flight tickets within 48h, they opened a claim without telling me what to do exactly when I asked what documents do they need… I was just told to get my flight tickets and send it, that’s it. I was then in financial distress and had to get my tickets myself. My partner lost her grandfather the year before and she didn’t have to spend a cent as Europe assistance took care of everything within 24h.
My dad passed away early October, I managed to send the rest of my documents at the end of that month. Still no answers. No acknowledgement of receipt. After a few weeks of trying to get an update and lodging a complaint, my claim got declined for an incorrect reason. I had to fight to get my claim reviewed and after I complained to Chapka, I was told it was a wrong decision and they were to contact Axa. I was finally contacted to resend all my documents mid December. I was told 16 working days.
Past these 16 working days, I call again and was told no one touched my claim. I asked to make another complaint and was told I would be called within 5 working days. No call. I called again yesterday and wasn’t even given an excuse to why I hadn’t been called yet. I was also told my call couldn’t be transferred to the complaint department.
I called again tonight, 2 agents hung up on the phone after explaining my situation and asking why the lack of response as I was honestly losing patience. The third time I was transferred to the complaint department team and finally the lovely lady told me she was referring my case to management.
It’s been 4 months. And nothing happened yet.
Can’t wait to see if I’ll finally get a new claim decision.
I would highly NOT recommend chapka anymore. Worst year investment. We’re switching to a new insurance company. Such a disgrace putting someone under so much stress and financial distress after having to fly from Australia, keep paying a rent, not getting any wage during that period wage while I had to see my dad dying.

As my tour operator recommended this insurer, I wanted to book the insurance with Chapka. When looking through all the insurance documents shown online, the following is pointed out:
- Paragraphs 1 and 2: an excess of €50 per policyholder applies
- Paragraphs 3 to 24: a deductible of 10% and at least 50 per policyholder
- Paragraphs 25 to 37: a deductible of 20% and at least €50 per policyholder applies
Problem: There is no reference to these paragraphs anywhere in these contracts. There is no such numbering anywhere in the publicly accessible ones. Concluding a policy under these conditions could therefore have the consequence that Chapka could, for example, arbitrarily declare that serious accidents with high medical costs belong to paragraphs 25-37.
Calls to clarify the facts are pointless: after one minute at the latest, the line is cancelled with a reference to the large number of calls.
This makes it impossible for me to choose this provider due to a lack of transparency.

I’m extremely frustrated with how my medical expenses have been handled. I submitted all the required documents, including a clear report outlining my condition and the results of my blood test, yet I’ve been asked for additional paperwork that doesn’t seem necessary at all. The report already provides everything needed to verify the situation, so these extra requests feel like an unnecessary delay, or worse, an attempt to avoid covering my legitimate medical expenses.
This has been a complete waste of my time, and I feel like I'm being taken advantage of. The lack of clarity and the unreasonable demands are unacceptable, and I would strongly advise others to be aware of how frustrating and inefficient the reimbursement process can be.
