Booked a year ahead, then left in silence before departure

I booked a Lenin Peak expedition with Central Asia Travel a year in advance. At the booking stage the communication was fine and everything seemed in order, and I received confirmation that the trip was reserved for me.

The problems started around two months before departure. As the trip got closer I had important questions about the domestic flights (included in the package), and border permit that needed answering, but the company simply stopped responding. I received no replies to my questions, I sent emails and whats app messages multiple times as the trip departure got closer, no response to my questions. I had bought 1000e flights to Bishkek, that I needed to cancel, because this company does not respond!

I had prepared for this expedition for a full year, both physically and practically, so being ignored at this stage was a huge disappointment. For a serious high altitude trip you have to be able to trust that your operator will be there when it counts. Based on my experience I cannot recommend them to anyone.

Don't climb Lenin Peak with these people!!!!!!!!!!

Really poor internet and email communication with tourists from Europe and the UK.

Only really cater for Russians, there mountaineering service on the edge of being outright dangerous, The Russian guides are completed inept, they totally rely on the Nepalese porters/guides, who they treat like dirt.

I would not recommend climbing Lenin peak with them, unless you have fully climatized at 6000 first. Hire your own Nepalese guide, before entering the region.

The main reason for this recommendation, is that each level/stage they take you too are much higher than the normal mountaineering guidelines and do bring on altitude sickness.

Make sure you filter all the water they provide as.

As it isn't ok to drink without being filtered

Don't eat any salads. Stick to hot, well cooked food.

When I was there, I was very sick after five days with a tummy bug, which ended my trek.

In the same period two people died, a Russian lady died of cerebral edema and at base camp and an Iranian man fell off a rope in the mountains.

Your putting your live in the hands of these people, who don't really care about you,

There only interested in your US dollars!!!
