Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 86 reviews, most reviewers were somewhat happy with their experience overall. Many people found the staff polite, understanding, and helpful, often making customers feel at ease and guiding them professionally through their situations. Setting up payment arrangements was frequently described as an easy and straightforward process. However, some people experienced difficulties contacting the company, reporting no replies to letters or emails. A notable number of reviewers were dissatisfied with being pursued for alleged debts they did not recognize, believed to be statute-barred, or already settled. Specific concerns included rude agent interactions, a lack of discretion regarding debt collection, and issues with debt reporting.

Scam debt collection of ancient or none existent debts

Not me but my family member - letter received saying he owed 6k on an egg card, except egg went out of business 15 years ago and it’s common knowledge that most debts become statute barred after 6..
Absolute disgusting scam and should be illegal. Preying on people’s vulnerabilities and fears to scrounge money that isn’t even owed.
Whoever is running this ‘business’ needs to go and get a real job and stop posting fake positive reviews about this company.

Received a letter saying that I owed…

Received a letter saying that I owed money when I’ve paid every single debt I have. And I don’t have any default.

Apparently saying that I owed money off of an old very account when the only thing I’ve ever bought off a very was a steam mop and I have evidence that I cleared the balance in full!

I even tried logging on and very had cancelled my account due to inactivity so I reopened an account and was given credit again with the same company who apparently I owed money to? SCAMMERS

I AM A CLASSED AS VENERABLE AND RECIEVED A CAPQUEST LETTERT

Written on my behalf as I am classed as mentally vulnerable and have my financial affairs dealt with by a third person.

Had a letter from Capquest, saying I owed money for an Abbey National account. I have never opened an Abbey National account, but do get confused and forgetful these days, and I was worried how this 'debt' would affect my credit rating.

If I did not have someone helping me I would have tried to pay the amount in full without speaking over the telephone ( as I am phone phobic) and I'm not good at navigating my way around emails or computer things, ( hence I have daily help).

I dread to think if anyone doesn't have help and is in a vulnerable situation.

VERY MORALLY WRONG.

I don’t understand how this business is…

I don’t understand how this business is still allowed to operate. It’s clear from the other reviews what they are doing to me they have done to thousands of others (and likely more who haven’t left a review!). They’ve bought a super old debt which has long been settled and are demanding payment, despite speaking with them multiple times and they say they will correct things on their side I still continue to get letters. I can imagine they have scammed so many people out of money. BE CAREFUL, THIS IS A SCAM!

The most disgusting company ever and should be put out of business
Buying debts that were actually paid off 18 years ago and employ OPOS to try and collect now by harassment and unsolicited emails.
They need to understand the law regarding debt and not attack vulnerable OAP’s whom are in poor health.

UNETHICAL 100%

DID YOU HEAR ABOUT THE SCOTTISH WINDOW CLEANER UP A LADDER DROPPED 50p.
IT HIT HIM ON THE HEAD !
a joke you may think ,not so these unethical Caledonian tightwads decided that they would in fact refuse to refund the money I paid them to service a debt I didn't own.
When this was proved this bunch of Highland cutpurses refused to refund, blocked my calls ,and called me names.
THEY HAD TO PAY WHEN THE FINANCIAL OMBUDSMAN GRIPPED THEM BY THEIR BAWBAGS.

MINUS 5 SHOULD BE AN OPTION!!

MINUS 5 SHOULD BE AN OPTION!!

i don't know who these people are, but they along with opos need to get a grip!! firstly i have NO IDEA who shop direct are!! secondly i have contacted opos requesting information about this SO CALLED debt and got no conclusive answers, so no closer to actually knowing what on earth you're assuming i am supposed to owe!! i supposedly owe £111.90 but you're willing to accept £22.38??? that to me is a ploy to target weak minded and vulnerable people into paying the small amount just to get you off their back!! stop wasting trees and time. go find something better to do than scamming people out of what ever pennies they have left after the country takes extreme liberties with the cost of everything!!!

Absolute scam

Absolute scam. I received some emails from Opos claiming I had an unresolved matter. After a couple of months I received a letter to my address saying that I owed £1,309.44 to MBNA. But, they have agreed to settle at £261.89.

I haven’t had an MBNA credit card since 2005! Even if I owed it, it would be statute barred after 7 years, never mind 20.

My credit file does not show this debt, my credit file is clear.

Trying to scare people into paying for things they no longer owe.

Take authority

They try to pin a debit on me I did not take out from ((25 years ago)) when I was a student. At the time I could not have gotten credit cards or loans because I didn't have any money and I was just a student with no income. All I had was a cashpoint card I remember it well.

This is a SCAM organisation. DO NOT PAY

What they do is they buy super old debts or something crazy like that and try and scare you into paying. You have no requirement to pay for anything, in fact it's just one big scam. DO NOT PAY.
