Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 111 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Customers frequently complained about significant difficulties with the online booking process and unhelpful customer service representatives who completely failed to properly resolve their flight issues. Many people also experienced unexpected extra charges, hidden service fees, and extremely rigid cancellation policies that made modifying travel plans a very frustrating ordeal. Some reviewers were happy with the fast assistance provided by agents and appreciated receiving smooth flight modifications when their travel schedules suddenly changed. A few consumers found the customer support team helpful when managing specific reservation adjustments and taking advantage of quick price matching guarantees.

I am supposed to be going to azul…

I am supposed to be going to azul resort in Negril Jamaica with my kids next week and I am already having a bad taste of the kind of customer service they will be giving. I just found out my second mom who raised me passed away and asked to switch dates and was denied. How can ppl be soo insensitive. Just switch the days not asking for anything else. I cancel and loose all the 3grand not including flights. This is the worse thing I can ever imagine. I didn’t ask for my loved one to pass away. Remember we are all human have some empathy for others. I am reporting capital one and this company to the business bureau.
Pictures are posted on the resort review page on Google. Do not use this service. They are not customer oriented.

Do not book through Capital One Travel

Do not book through Capital One Travel. Use another platform or book directly with the hotel. Their booking system displayed and confirmed inaccurate room information, and Capital One has refused to take accountability despite being provided clear screenshots.

I booked an oceanfront suite at AVA Resort Cancun for five travelers. Capital One’s app advertised the room as accommodating six guests, with two double beds, one king bed and two queen beds. The listing also displayed photographs of a large suite with substantial living and dining space. My Capital One confirmation repeated the same occupancy and bedding information.

I later discovered that Capital One had actually sent AVA a reservation for its Friends Family room—a 614-square-foot room with one king bed and two sofa beds that Capital One’s own app lists as accommodating only four guests. AVA appears to have assigned exactly what Capital One transmitted, so my complaint is not with the resort. Capital One displayed and confirmed one accommodation to me while reserving a materially different room.

I contacted Capital One Travel and its Executive Office multiple times and supplied screenshots documenting the discrepancy. Capital One responded that AVA would permit all five guests because one is an infant and that its internal system shows I booked the Friends Family room. Neither response addresses the inaccurate information presented to me while booking. Allowing an infant to stay in a four-person room does not make it equivalent to the six-person suite, bedding configuration and photographs Capital One advertised and confirmed.

Capital One offered a $200 hotel credit but refused to acknowledge or correct the inaccurate listing. It continues to insist that I am receiving the “correct” room while ignoring the clear contradiction within its own customer-facing app.

Customers should be able to trust that the room Capital One Travel displays and confirms is the room it actually reserves. Based on this experience, I will not use Capital One Travel again, and I am seriously considering switching banks because of the dismissive and inadequate response from its Executive Office.

Just a Bad travel ecosysterm - Avoid

Just a Bad travel ecosysterm -- just do not use! Endless bureaucracy to keep their money (wait - YOUR money!). Their points and Jennifer Garner are not worth it.

Most recent problem was a disagreement that I wanted to change a flight that was non-refundable, but changeable. Turns out because it was a foreign airline, changes are only allowed from the origin city, you cannot change that. That is not the policy of any of the major U.S. airlines. Due to other travel arrangements I wanted to reverse the ticket from A to B instead from B to A, & I was willing to pay the change fee. CapOne did not inform me of the airline's restrictions at time of purchase instead saying that was the customer's responsibility to know the airlines policy, as if a reasonable person would need to go to Mongolian Air or Botswana Air's, or whoever's website and find their policies! Heck, if I were going to do that deep dive, I would just book on that airline's website!

Of course then you get trapped in the endless loop of the airline telling you only the travel agency can change it, and (of course) CapOne saying only the airline can change it. Since this was a European flight, they said "oh, we can't change it because it changes currency when you change origin country". What crap! Same credit card with no foreign transaction fees that auto-converts the currency when I make a foreign purchase can't handle this! Oh wait - no, no, its the airline that says this, it never our fault.

They literally told me to hang up and call the airline back and demand to speak to a supervisor with the airline, instead of taking responsibility. I did that and the airline simply said NO. Would not pass you up the chain - then what are you going to do?

In the end I wasted 20,000 CapitalOne points on a flight I cannot take and get absolutely nothing back despite the assurances of a changeable flight.

Useless middlemen - avoid!

Capital One Travel is not that bad afterall

well i am a very old capital one travel customer and i never had any issue until last time when my flights were cancelled and it took me almost 2 hours to get it fixed . The good part was that i could connect with a live capital one travel representative instantly (1-888-620-1759) and i was only charged $75 wherein my seats were also upgraded to extra legroom but they had to speak with airline to get everything set for my flight ticket but they are much better than chase travel.

The Worst Customer Service

August 2026, I had a two-night reservation at The Inn, but it was cut short by one night because The Cove was closed while the facility was still under construction.
The Inn notified Expedia one week before my arrival that they were canceling my reservation, which had been booked by a Capital One Travel agent, because the facility was under construction and not open for business. However, I was not informed until one hour before I was supposed to arrive.
I tried to get Capital One Travel to issue a credit for the missed night, but the representative called The Inn and was told they could not issue a credit because I had stayed at another location, Hyatt Place.
I explained that The Inn was only billing the Expedia account $357 of the $1145 prepaid and that the second night at Hyatt was not charged to me.

It was provided as a gift from The Inn after canceling my reservation.
I spent hours on the phone with Capital One Travel, speaking with multiple agents and supervisors, trying to resolve the issue.

Customer support did not seem willing to understand my issue and lacked the authority to investigate my complaint.
After four days of calls and emails, I received a $471 refund. Without persistent follow-up, I doubt it would have been processed.

Aug 05, 2026
The company fixed the issue, and I have been provided with a partial refund.

This is a horrible travel site

This is a horrible travel site. The prices are more expensive and they leave out important details. For example, that you have to pay extra for breakfast and parking. There is no cancelling or modifying reservations. The site is sluggish and glitchy. I will never use them for travel again. I will probably be cancelling my card as well.

I am extremely disappointed with this…

I am extremely disappointed with this company’s customer service and policy.

I booked a hotel and, within 10 minutes, realized that I had not added the $19 protection option that would have given me peace of mind in case I needed to cancel. Although I understand that cancellations may be restricted for nonrefundable bookings, I was shocked that the company would not make any adjustment at all just 10 minutes after the reservation was made.

I contacted a representative immediately, but I was simply told that nothing could be done because of their policy. This feels very inflexible and customer-unfriendly. Many travel companies provide a short grace period or allow changes shortly after booking. Even airlines often provide a 24-hour window to reconsider a purchase.

After this experience, I understand why many customers have expressed frustration in their reviews. A company’s true quality is often reflected in how it treats customers when a simple mistake happens. I hope they reconsider their policies and provide more reasonable solutions for situations like this.

I had a very frustrating experience…

I had a very frustrating experience trying to use my Capital One Travel credit to rebook a flight.

There is no option to rebook online using travel credit, so I had to call customer service. Calling in itself wasn't a problem, but the agent booked the wrong travel date. I didn't realize the mistake until I received the confirmation email.

I immediately called back to have it corrected, but I was told there was nothing they could do without charging another **$99 per ticket** to rebook. The frustrating part is that I had already paid a **$99 per ticket** rebooking fee because the first agent handled the reservation incorrectly. In the end, I had to pay **$198 per ticket**, or **$396 total for two tickets**, just to fix a mistake that wasn't mine.

The lack of an online rebooking option is inconvenient, but what's even more disappointing is that Capital One Travel would not correct an error made by its own agent without charging me again. Customers should not have to pay hundreds of dollars because of a booking mistake made by customer service. I expected much better customer service and accountability.

We have had multiple problems where…

We have had multiple problems where Capital One Travel refuses to make things right, such as flights being canceled and us being rebooked by the airlines without our approval. Be aware that you may not have any repurcussions if anything happens because Capital One may say it's up to the airlines, and the airlines will say it's up to your travel agency to make changes. It's incredibly frustrating and time-consuming. There is a reason they have such poor reviews.

This wasn't just a bad experience—it…

This wasn't just a bad experience—it was an absolute disaster.

I've rented cars all over the world, and I have never experienced such an unbelievable combination of incompetence, complete lack of customer service, and what honestly feels like a scam.

I arrived at the Budget rental office at the exact scheduled pickup time, only to be told that I had to present the passport containing my Turkish entry stamp. This requirement was **never mentioned anywhere** during the booking process, in the rental terms, or in any confirmation documents. My entry stamp happened to be in a different passport.

I drove **100 km back to my hotel** to retrieve that passport and returned to the rental office. After wasting several hours, they suddenly changed their story. Now they claimed the passport was no longer the issue because I had "missed the pickup time" while complying with their undocumented demand. They refused to honor my reservation and insisted I make a completely new booking—even though my original reservation had already been **paid in full**.

To make matters even worse, I contacted Capital One Travel expecting them to step in and resolve the situation.

Instead, I spent **more than two hours on the phone** with multiple representatives. I was transferred from one person to another, received countless apologies, but absolutely **nothing** was done. No one solved the problem, no alternative vehicle was provided, and no one took responsibility.

The final result:

- No rental car.
- No refund.
- More than five hours wasted.
- Hundreds of kilometers driven for absolutely nothing.
- A ruined day because neither Budget nor Capital One Travel was willing or able to resolve an issue that should never have happened in the first place.

When you book through a major travel platform and pay in advance, you expect both the rental company and the booking platform to stand behind the reservation. Instead, I was left stranded, out of pocket, and completely abandoned by both companies.

This is, without question, one of the worst travel experiences I have ever had. I cannot recommend either Budget or Capital One Travel to anyone.

Booking and profile issues

Like others, I'd give zero stars if possible. I recently booked a flight for my wife and I from FL to MT. HUGE HUGE hassle that sent me to my blood pressure meds and i am totally serious. It took two days because on day one after 1 1/2 hours on the phone with the rep, I had to hang up. Not sure where the rep was from but he barely spoke English and when I was able to understand him, his info on the system was wrong. Today I called back to try again but unfortunately I was met the same exhausting results. This guy was Hispanic and again barely spoke English. After 30 minutes I asked for a supervisor. She was extremely rude, not interested in my issues so after 20 minutes I hung up on her. Cancelling my Venture X today.

Horrible customer service

The process of cancelling or changing flights is extremely frustrating. Customer service is horrible with agents who have 0 knowledge and are reckless and lie to the face that they sent email for refund and when you follow up, there would be no email sent at all.
Horrible, will never book with this website again.

Failed me when flight was delayed

I rented a car and out flight was delayed. The car rental place was not open and we lost our money. We called capital one travel throughout our flight. Lady recommendation was to book using our capital one credit card. We still did t get a refund or even a partial refund. We shared our flight boarding pass, email from air carrier and proof the flight was late. They continued to say not enough information was shared. Car place wouldn’t give us a car the next morning and capital one didn’t help us find a car. Do not book with them - stay with someone like Expedia. Worst experience.

Uh Oh ! something went wrong

I've tried to book a flight for days and kept receiving the "Uh Oh ! something went wrong message".
Called customer service and they told me that "sometimes" the flight are not up to date in the portal ... They suggested to book directly with the flight company.
Also this happened after the whole website was down for a whole day.
Not a good experience and considering to switch to a different travel card.

Misleading 24-Hour Cancellation Policy Cost Me $2,497

I wanted to share my experience with Capital One Travel in case it helps others before booking.

On May 28, 2026, I booked a flight and hotel package through Capital One Travel totaling $2,497. During checkout, the website prominently displayed “Free Cancellation Within 24 Hours.” Relying on that information, I completed the booking. Just four hours later, I decided to cancel the trip, believing I was well within the advertised cancellation window.

After canceling, I noticed the charge was still pending on my Capital One card. I immediately contacted Capital One Travel, and the representative attempted to process a refund but was unsuccessful. They contacted the hotel and told me they would follow up. I later received confirmation that my reservation had been canceled, but the hotel refused to issue a refund.

Over the next several weeks, I spent hours calling Capital One Travel, the dispute department, and attempting to contact the hotel myself. I was repeatedly told that Capital One Travel was waiting on the hotel to respond. I was also instructed by the dispute team to wait until the charge posted before filing a dispute. Once I did, my dispute was ultimately denied after the hotel responded.

What frustrated me most was being told afterward that the 24-hour cancellation only applied to the flight. As a first-time Capital One Travel customer, there was nothing during checkout that clearly communicated that the hotel would still be non-refundable despite the prominent “Free Cancellation Within 24 Hours” message. Had that been made clear, I never would have completed the booking.

I have screenshots showing the cancellation policy that was displayed during booking and documentation showing that I canceled just four hours after making the reservation.

This experience left me out $2,497 despite canceling almost immediately and making every effort to resolve the issue through the proper channels. I expected much better from Capital One Travel and hope they improve the clarity of their booking policies so other customers don’t end up in the same situation.

I’d give them a zero if I could

I’d give them a zero if I could. I’ve been a loyal card holder for almost 20 years and I’m horrified what’s become of this once great institution. I started using their travel service thinking it must have some advantage over hotels.com etc. And friends with similar services on their cards seemed really happy. Boy was I wrong. I was duped into renting a car in Italy without any indication that some of the rental companies they partner with require you have an international driver’s license. I’ve rented cars in Italy for 30+ years and NEVER had an issue. In the Rome airport I was immediately denied on this grounds and Cap One refused to help or issue a refund. I had to go to Avis, which was super friendly but charged me a ridiculous amount. But at least I had a car. Cap One doesnt care about you. They only want to make money and good luck if you run into problems. I’m dropping them and getting a card with travel benefits that actually benefit me.

Can I give a zero rating

Can I give a zero rating? I specifically used all my points and paid an additional $500 for first class because I knew I was most likely going to have to change my flight, it specifically said with my first class purchase there was no charge to change my flight. Now that I’m in the situation I anticipated, and need to change my flight they are charging another $450. I escalated it, got a supervisor that I could barely understand, and no wiggle room! Warning to people using this service, don’t fall for flying first class to avoid a charge to change your flight! It’s 100% falsely advertised!
