They deny all my travel claims i am…
They deny all my travel claims i am covered for under A and B line coverage for veterans. They play god with all claims and when it’s time to talk about something they denied they blame VAC, and VAC blames them in a never ending circle. I highly don’t RECOMMEND. Find someone else to look after you, because if they can’t look after over 40,000 veterans out of the Afghan war who served Canada proudly how are they going to serve you ?
Not Impressed
Even if you submit claims on-line it takes 10 business days to treat. Very strange when many, if not most of their claims, are automatically approved or rejected by the system.
Not impressed.
High premiums
High premiums , low coverage , have to jump through hoops to make a claim
Trash coverage
Doesn’t cover a lot. Medications included. If I had a choice in which plan my employer provided I would never use them. Poor coverage, low coverage for what it does “cover” and no reason behind rejected claims. Think they know better than doctors.

For last 3months I am struggling to get my logins so that I can see what is covered under my package. Whenever you call them the waiting time is so long that you give up. For last 1month I am struggling with Sask Blue Cross new app and couldn't get registered.
Complete disaster
Complete disaster! My newborn son was hospitalized outside Canada. I called agent and she said that I can proceed with the treatment and submit documents online, which I did. I paid a lot of money and till now I never got reimbursement. They simple do not pick up the phone. Please advise where I can submit the complain so they can be closed... enough... it is a scam!
I changed districts
I changed districts, I used to be with Surrrey which negotiated better benefits 80%, 100% after a specific amount. I went today to the pharmacy under the new district Richmond to take my hormones which are essential for me to survive in class, and the pharmacy/Blue Cross asked me to pay almost half of the price! This is the worst coverage and we need to take out money from our pocket every year bigger amounts! Our health is crucial to perform in class and we put up with bad behavior of some students! Blue Cross get your s… together and provide a professional service and coverage! This is unacceptable! Anther issue, why am I paying twice the deductible is I use the same coverage Blue Cross? I just changed districts! The deductible shouldn’t be asked to be paid twice by the same person…
My husband died over six months ago
I was under the false impression that life insurance was there to assist the bereaved after the loss of a loved one, to help ease the overwhelm that comes when we lose a spouse . . . My husband died over six months ago, i was his caregiver for over two years as he battled cancer, during that time we completely drained our savings and maxed out our credit. I submitted his life insurance claim two weeks after his death and I'm having to email them weekly for updates, the only response I get is that the claim is still being assessed . . . I've jumped through all of their 'hoops' and provided all documents they requested (including a second copy of the death certificate). I'm about to lose my home and declare bankruptcy and they are continuing to delay the payout! This has all added to the stress and devastation of losing my hubs!
If you care about how your loved ones will be treated after your death DO NOT GET INSURANCE FROM ALBERTA BLUE CROSS! They don't care about you or your family!

Tried twice today to call their international number. They only have a 514 area code to call collect which doesn’t work from Portugal. First call was 60’ and second during business hours was 45’. I gave up. Simple, never again and I’ll let everyone else know.
I am 45 and I have one prescription and…
I am 45 and I have one prescription and want to see the dentist twice a year. They don't have a plan for me that would cover either of these needs. Seriously???
Additionally, agents are typical bureaucrats that expect you to understand the labyrinthian and asinine structure of their company and act condescending when you don't understand what is happening.
The last agent that I spoke to was patient and helpful despite my frustration and I really appreciated that. But, this company is just another profit-based healthcare company that designs plans to deny coverage and transfer wealth to stakeholders. They don't care about our wellbeing.
No thanks
Blue Cross is no more what it used to be.
Archaic digital interface, Hello 2002! :)
25 minutes wait to have someone pick up the phone. 11 % premium increase after 10 months membership without even claiming half of the eligible benefits on the period ! Explanation letter about the increase was sent during Canada Post strike and never received as of Jan 2025. They couldn't care less and do not even bother sending an e-mail. I discovered the painful increase on my credit card statement!
Deductible, exclusions, copayments and restrictions all over the place. Meager benefits for individual members not on a group benefit.
Every claim is a surprise because no one knows what they will pay or not.
Membership cancellation requires a one month (paid) notice, which means they will screw you until the very last minute...
Where is everyone?
Alberta Blue Cross is not as good as it used to be. Some of their telephone employees are not very knowledgeable about their plans. After finally getting the correct information from another ABC employee months later, I changed my plan but ABC refused to transfer my Balance Points so I had less than 3 weeks to use millions of points that I didn’t use before because the items they have to bid on are not as good as they used to be. I even filled out the “Manager Request Form 55227” but no manager contacted me. I realize this happened during the Christmas Season but some managers should be there to work...no?

Generally speaking I am glad to have Blue Cross in Alberta. It's not perfect but better than nothing.

Just adding my voice to those outlining terrible customer access by phone. Inexcusable
Unable to reach an agent recurrenrly for hours
The price doubled for both myself and my husband from last year for our travel ins.
I tried to extend each trip covered and called both 800 and local numbers but was on hold for hours each time I called. Did not get through. While patiently waiting at regular intervals a warning came through that once the agent answers they would hang up in case of a disparaging remark. Why would a customer be upset after being put on hold recurrently for hours?
What type of customer service is this?
I will never purchase or deal with BXBS again.
And it was always my choice.
Your customer service is shamefully inadequate and if you do not improve your reputation will continue to nosedive!
Shame on management and administration!

Wasted my time for 4 months - Don't choose Blue Cross !
I thought Blue Cross would be a professional solution for my health insurance needs. I was completely wrong.
At the beginning, it all seemed well : Documentation was clear, the employee that took care of my case was very polite and responded all of my questions. I filled in the forms, and everything sounded good.
But then, I had no news. A month passed. I asked what was the state of my demand, as I would still need to wait 6 months of waiting time in addition to my demand being accepted for some reimbursements. I was answered "I'm going to check". Then no answer. Another mail from me was followed by "It seems there's a problem with your case, I'm going to check".
And then, no answer since then. It's been 4 months. They don't even respond to my emails now. I don't have a particular profile; I'm young, I don't have any particular health issue, I don't have a criminal record. It just seems like they're not capable of processing a simple demand, or to even inform you of what might be an issue.
So thanks to Blue Cross, I've been un-insured for 4 months, and have to restart the entire process with another company. Huge waste of time, and extremely un-professional from them.
My advice : Don't waste your time with them as I ded.
They delay claims processing
They delay claims processing, request additional docs, try to make is as hard as possible in hope that people forget or give up or fall out of deadline for submission. Worst insurance experience ever.

They seem to have friendly staff when you call. The app used to be so user friendly and easy to use. It was up dated and it’s almost next to useless now. You can’t look up your coverage unless you have a code.
Not a good insurance company
Good luck processing your claims from blue cross,I had a claim since May and i haven't receive it until now.
