I had a deeply disappointing experience with this firm and would advise others to proceed with extreme caution.

From the outset, I was given advice that I later found to be misleading, seemingly aimed at securing me as a client. The fees charged were significantly higher than initially quoted—rising from an estimate of £16,000–£20,000 to a final bill exceeding £50,000. This increase was attributed to additional work, carried out in their words "behind the scenes", though much of it appeared to stem from repeated errors, mismanagement and poor advice from day 1. I found better advice via Google and had to provide the answers to the partners, as they seemed completely unable to advice me correctly.

Throughout the engagement, the firm provided inconsistent estimates of my tax liability, ranging from £0 to several hundred thousand pounds. These discrepancies undermined confidence in their advice and raised serious concerns about their competence and reliability.

Moreover, I encountered a concerning level of arrogance among the partners I dealt with. There seemed to be a strong focus on maximizing fees, with little accountability for mistakes. Complaints were met with cursory apologies and further fees, which only added to the frustration.

In my view, the service I received fell far short of professional standards, and I would not recommend this firm based on my experience.

I have been a client of the firm for a number of years and always received excellent service until the partner left about a year ago. Since then I have had 3 different partners all of whom have left. Service has fallen off a cliff but the bills keep on coming.

Mr. Sean Randall equates to total professionalism in his field and is second to none. Having overpaid SDLT on a client case Mr. Randall resolved the matter on my behalf as quickly as I raised the issue , with a comprehensive letter to HMRC which I could not have done without his help and assistance. I highly recommend him to anyone trying to understand the labyrinth of SDLT, which he has at his fingertips.

I have interacted with Blick on several occasions with regards to US/UK personal income tax, US/UK trust issues, and a US/UK business startup some dating back to the days of Westleton Drake as well as up to the current Blick Rothenberg. I have always been pleased with the services I have received when I engaged them. A primary contact for me is John Bull who I find extremely professional, knowledgeable, and approachable. A first class team.

I reached out to Sean Randall with a challenging SDLT enquiry around a shared ownership property.

Sean took the time to lay out our options logically and gave both us and our solicitor the confidence to move ahead with the transaction.

I was tremendously impressed with the timeliness, professionalism and depth of the advice we were given. I would not hesitate to recommend Sean and Blick Rothenberg in future.

Paper work was provided in August. They were unable to file before the Mid Dec deadline. The paper work then had to be filed manually by the tax paper not the accountant. Ridiculous.

I have never experienced such lack of communication, incompetence and complete absence of professionalism in the whole of my career.

Of over 30 yrs in business I've never had such poor value for incompentent service. I made the mistake of engaging them to do my personal tax returns after having had fair tax advice on an international business matter, but the Partner engaged a Junior to do the work yet still managing to acrew more than £10k in hours for the most simple of tax returns. Upon complaining they argued that they had to research and advise around the EIS element of the accounts (absurd as this is standard and very very simple). They would not compromise for less than 60% of the claimed hours then threatened court action when payment was not forthcoming. This big accountancy firm is now part of the even bigger Allinial Global, so expect to be treated even more like a number. Avoid at all costs.
