Abysmal
My husband arranged for a collection of a few furniture items most of which had been bought from British heart foundation. The day BHF was supposed to come they never turned up - received no updates throughout the day. They rescheduled collection for today, tuesday 07.04.2026. They arrived late and decided they did not want to take 90 % of things i declared. They said not to worry as there is a company that can recycle all the items for me and they gave me website where, they said, I can arrange for free collection of furniture BHF cannot take. They lied so they can take what looks like new, the 10 percent of things i did not buy from BHF. Second hand furniture, that i bought from bHF in exactly same condition is no longer good enough for them! Thieving, lying British Heart Foundation. They have been going downhill for a long time now. Shame on you. Time wasters!!!! I will never support British Heart Foundation again!!!!

I won't be using BHF again.
Arranged a pick up of garden furniture. Two men turned up looked at the furniture and left without ringing the bell. The furniture is fine, I am sure they will have a ready made excuse but having donated many, many times over the years, I will look to use another charity.

Rude time wasters - Old Kent Road Home Store
Old Kent Road Home Store - complete time wasters. I can’t believe they would treat donors like this.
I had a collection booked and confirmed for between 7am-1pm on Thursday 2nd April 2026. Was promised tracking around 7am on the morning. This didn’t arrive until 12:30pm. Tracked the van coming to my address and saw it shoot past me in the main road.
Driver made no attempt to contact me. I tried calling the number on the tracking, which was for the Old Kent Road Home Store. They didn’t answer even though I called multiple times.
I saw on the tracking that the driver left. Nearly an hour later, received a text saying that the driver was arriving shortly, but the tracking shows they cancelled the order.
No one from BHF had the courtesy to contact me to let me know what was going on.
I called BHF HQ to make a formal complaint about how they treat donors. I was donating thousands of pounds worth of good quality furniture, and they made no attempt to try and find the address or contact me.

Delivery from Milen / Help from Simon
Purchased in-store at Brixton.
The entire staff were friendly and patient. Simon was very helpful in ensuring everything was in order and was very patient during a busy afternoon.
A home delivery was due today, but because of the lift being broken (which we informed them ahead and paid extra) the man and van could not come up. Which is fine. Understandable. No one should break their backs.
Milen from the van called to ask if we were happy to receive the redelivery the next day, was really nice about it. Thanks Milen.

We sent photos to BH F in Weston Super…
We sent photos to BH F in Weston Super Mare branch. The photos was accepted on our furniture items. We at to wait around 4 weeks for a slot. We drove 40 minutes to parents house. The driver inspected the items and rejected half of the five items. Warning if photos clear BHF scanning process. There is a very good chance they will be rejected and you could be waiting a month.
Really frustrating because it meant we waited a month. BHF approved the photos which is disingenuous if then they are rejected on inspection. We wasted nearly 4 weeks : a 40 minute drive and communication with BHF to get items approved prior to inspection.
Next time I will take items to local recycling centre.

RUBBISH
Absolute shit
I’m trying to help people by giving my perfect undamaged sofa to them, but they come and say “there’s no fire safety label” when i clearly told them it is under the cushion but they said it is too much work for us to check. ITS YOUR JOB. this experience reminds me to never bother to waste my time to donate to charity as clearly they have the brain of an ant.
Absolutely disgusting collection staff…
Absolutely disgusting collection staff rude horrible insulted my lovely two year old velvet sofa… I will never donate to this company again unless they get rid of their terrible delivery men! They just could not be bothered!
It is lovely and immaculate…. Just velvet which a nap on it.. A really awful experience… such a shame this company employ these two as the charity needs money and my free sofa would definitely have sold …. I’ve since sold it for 150 pounds! Never again!

Completely unreliable.
Don't waste time trying to donate furniture to this charity. We booked a date for them to collect a dining table and chairs and they never arrived. Tried numerous times to phone the store and got the answer machine every time despite the store being open, left three messages and no-one called back, not even the next day to apologise. Have now donated to another charity who weren't surprised by our experience said they hear the same story all the time.

Avoid this service and use another charity instead
Long time supporters of the charity so opted to donate a spare bed frame to them. Took it apart and included all the nuts and bolts in a bag. Waited in for pick up but drivers refused it because it ‘wasn’t in saleable condition’ due to some light scratches on one side panel. Took it to another local charity who were pleased with it and they will receive any money from the sale now. They don’t ask for photos on their collection form (unlike other charities) so it seems like a waste of everyone’s time to rely on the driver’s opinion on the day. Cannot recommend this service and will donate elsewhere in future.

Rubbish
Rubbish! Collection van arrived while I was briefly out. I left a note on the door for them to contact me. They didn’t - drove off and just put a postcard through my letterbox to arrange recollection. I won’t be using them again!

Refused a collection
I never want to give a bad review on a charity. And I have always donated to this charity in the past.
Never again!
I Had arranged to get a solid oak extendable table collected. I had to wait over a week as the date they first booked had to be changed for logistical reasons. I had a couple of calls from their office and on both occasions advised that it was table only, no chairs (as I was still using them as I had replaced the large table with a smaller one that fits my space better.
At no time was I told that they only pick up tables with chairs!
The collection guys arrived, were very rude saying they don’t collect tables on their own. They must have chairs as unsaleable without. I actually bought the table without chairs a few years ago.
My mother suffered heart disease and I had always supported BHF even considering leaving a donation in my will.
I won’t be doing that now, nor will I donate the bedroom furniture that is also in excellent condition.
I did contact another charity who had no issues with there being no chairs. They collected it the same day and were delighted with it.

Dreadful customer service
I bought a table and four chairs from the BHF eBay shop. I sent messages & emails trying to get the phone number of the shop to arrange collection but all I got were generic autoresponders. Eventually I drove 45 minutes to the Huddersfield shop but when I got there the chairs were badly damaged. This was not visible in the photos or in the written description. Three men who work in the store all agreed as we looked at the listing together. I was told they could not refund me I would have to go via the online shop. I drove 45 minutes back. BHF have the furniture AND my money! I sent a message & asked to cancel the transaction - the reply stated they could not deal with it until they had spoken to the shop, Then 3 days later I got a message saying the cancellation had not been actioned. I had to ring eBay for help & have now had to report the items as 'not having arrived'. All so ridiculous, time consuming and irksome. It really puts one off trying to support charity. I am still waiting for any type of reply!

WASTE OT TIME OFFERING VERY GOOD ITEMS.
I booked a collection for a donation of a very lovely nearly new full size dishwasher. We are having a new kitchen fitted and all electrical app are built in, so we thought we would ask the bhf would like it, i phoned them they ask condition etc and said they would be very pleased to have it. When the driver came to collect it the man in charge refused to take it saying it was to big, he then tryed telling me they only take counter top which was a lie. I phoned the shop to conplain, was told the manager was going to look into why the driver would not take it. I am still waiting for the phone. This was 10 days ago I WILL NEVER USE THE BHF AGIAN. The driver was very very unhelpfull and rude the Cardiff bay store could not be bothered at all.

Home Store - Birkenhead.
Home Store Birkenhead.
Collection for Suite booked and confirmed as a collection between 9-11. Finally arrived at 12.40 and went to the wrong house. When asked to return within a few minutes of leaving driver refused as he had attempted collection from the address given based on the fact he went to the house next to number 110. He went to 108! not 112. He blamed me for not being there despite the fact he was at the wrong address.
To make matters worse I called the Store to complain and the Duty Manager was too busy in the back of the shop to speak to me.
They are wanting donations but then cannot be bothered with any customer service.
Extremely poor service

Waste of time if you live higher than a ground floor flat
Had booked a collection for the 16th march from the cardiff bhf. So all good all booked in and the day before just wanted to check all ok.
Come delivery day i had to nip out but my wife was in all day and she waited and waited and still no collection. She then texted me to check on my emails whilst i was at the job centre only to see my emails to day they have collected and made the delivery a sucessful one.
What utter liars my wife was in all day and nobody buzzed the intercom. So i returned home fuming and telephoned the cardiff branch and they would get back to me within an hour. An hour passed still no phone call so decided to ring them no answer, left it for half an hour finally got to a manager.
She was ok sympathectic and i could hear the delivery driver mumbling over the phone and offered an alternative collection so i explained i live on the second floor flat and was told it was against health and safety what utter nonsense. So i said i will donate to someone who will apreciate it and wont ever give my donations to bhf ever again untill theres positive changes.
If you have furniture donations give them to local charities who would appreciate them.

Appalling pick up - looking for reasons not to collect
I arranged a pick up of mums furniture the day that the keys were being handed back to the council. The guys that came to pick it up said no to so many things . First the bed needed to be dismantled to get out (I took the matters off and turned it on its side and it got through the door)so they had to take it. Next the backs of the shelves were slightly adrift so they couldn’t take it- I had a camping mallet and 30 seconds later hey presto all fixed. Next they refused to take the mattress as it wasn’t spotless (small water stain) and they refused the 2 year old cream leather sofa bed due to cracked leather (not cracked, just standard leather creases)- they looked fir any reason not to take things. So now these items don’t have a home and I’ve had to leave in the flat and mum will be charged for their disposal. Thank you very much BHF. It’s stressful enough moving mum into a home without this

terrible staffing at Cramlington store
Thankless after making donation of furniture, it does not cost to say thank you, maybe you should teach your staff. The three Neanderthals we dealt with were very ignorant with zero communication skills. Will never donate to them again or venture into their stores.

Romford bhf collection disasters …
Romford bhf market square first attempt at a collection never happened because I didn't answer my phone or reply to the answer phone message they left..... I don't have answer phone on my phone - it just rings.... They never called me.
Second attempt was to be 2 weeks later and was confirmed by staff for the 12th of March 2026 yay!!!
First message confirming that they were coming was at 6.30am.
I phoned to ask about times they would arrive and got told that I would receive a message from the bhf about a time window - excellent!
13.05 your driver is on their way be at the collection address for 13.45-15.45.
Arrived at the collection address at 13.20 and checked my messages from the bhf and my collection had been cancelled... Super. Phone the office to ask why and got told the 'system is playing up and they have another 8 collections and the lady said she would contact the driver to check if they could come back. I phone again at 14.30 and get told by another member of staff that the driver had competed the route for today and I would have to rebook.. Fabulous!!
The same reason for cancelling was due to me not answering my phone apparently the number was wrong!!
They see my number on the confirmation page of the collection appointment and they have been sending me text messages from 6.30am!!!!
I advise people to think twice about donating to the bhf when there are apps available for giving away anything and everything.
No apology either.

Awful staff
My daughter booked a pick up from the Glasgow Forge branch which she regularly visits as a customer. Was for my Dads flat as moving to a home and required many items picked up.
All organised until day of pick up. Asked for a non first thing appointment during comms due to travelling time/distance to be there.
Was agreed then contacted at back of 07.00hrs by text would be there in time window of 0815-1015. Further text from driver to say on way so had to get there asap.
On arriving advised of text and the driver said as soon as he gets in his van in the morning thats him started work and lassie in the office is wrong.
Whats the point of giving a time frame then?
2 males were in a BzhF van. Neither identified themselves but older of the 2 was nothing short of a disgrace, in fact came across as a wee ned.
Immediately advised he was in charge, no matter what had been agreed and that he would decide what would be picked up and what wouldnt. No people skills whatsoever, slang, abrasive, confrontational and a total embarrassment to this company, younger guy said nothing but must be a long day working alongside this wee guy. Get rid of this wee clown. Happy to discuss with management as folk like him just in the wrong job.
Took 2 things and left the rest. Total waste of our time.
I have worked in public sector for over 40 years, regularly visiting people at home and he just did not have the basc skills to appropriately handle the situation well.
Got an email from them afterwards that would not let me respond to and voice my concerns.
