Avoid this company more like '' Delboys back yard traders''''

This is a ''BUYER BEWARE'' post. I went to what I thought was a big respectable company only to find out that it was more akin to ''delboys back yard traders''. I told the man I was a complete newbie to camper-vanning and I did not want a pop-up roof or a rock and roll bed because I did not have the height, strength or youth to operate them. I'd seen a camper-van I liked and the man showed me round it telling me it would be cleaned before handover. I bought the van in good faith.
When the van arrived I was excited to put all my new things in it ready for a weekend away. I was appalled when I took the bubble wrap off the m'wave plate to find about 5ml deep mould and grease on the top and back of the m'wave. I had asked on my first visit about the cooker hood ''oh yes don't worry it will all be cleaned. I asked on delivery because it was still sticky. The salesman didn’t even know how to open it. The HOOD AND THE M'WAVE SHOULD HAVE BEEN CONDEMNED AS A HEALTH HAZARD. I spoke to the salesman, his response oh I'll speak to the department and when I escalated the complaint they said they apologised and would be happy to sort it out. Well I'd already spent 4 hours and more cleaning it so there was nothing to sort out. The next twice I drove the van it made me feel sea sick. Then I came across 2 gauges on the side of the passenger seat both in the red. I googled it . Air suspension. When I queried this I was told '' get a tyre inflator and put some air in them. Not quite the aftersales service I was promised. When I first viewed the van I asked for a test drive. sales man said ''No''. When I told my friends about this they say I should have been given a test drive and when I questioned this I was told I was wrong that the salesman was an honest person and that conversation had not taken place. but I have an email from that salesman saying people don't generally ask for test drives but when the van came out of workshops I could have one. I know I should have walked away from the purchase at that point. Now I have just found out that the 2 new tyres are in fact 2 yrs old and probably came of some other van in their workshop or were purchased as used tyres. I have also taken a damp metre over the van. All the areas round the windows that I though were just grubby were in fact damp; meter read 22 in most places. I have complained and been brushed off as ''buyer regret'' It is regret that I trusted this company as I was really excited to get the van and had already booked up 3 weekends away in the van.
The company will not buy the van back even though all my complaints were within the 14 days so If any people out there are thinking of buying a van invest in a damp meter tell the seller you will get and independent check done and be prepared to walk away if you come up with any issues. If the hab certificate only shows area tested but not a figure then don't accept it. Mine was a very expensive lesson to learn.

Brilliant experience

Just bought our second van from John at BC, our first motorhome. Making such a substantial purchase is a big deal and we wouldn't go anywhere else. There is a great range to choose from and the sales service is super. Aiden's handover tutorial was excellent. He took his time and made sure we were clear on all relevant parts.

So too (and more importantly) is BC's after sales service. They are always polite, friendly and eager to help. This gives us the most confidence in our purchase. The BC team (John, Danny, Aiden, Louis, Donna and the rest of the service team) are like a family. Always there to keep you right.

Can't recommend them highy enough.

As time passes so does the lack of correspondence the Owner John has now blocked my calls and text to his mobile number 07748 295206
I have now decided to report to Trading Standards and The AWS see where that leads to
From the start this has been the worst experience I have endured. I find myself being forced to write this review in the hope that I may save others from the devastation events imposed on myself by John and his team. Without going into detail I purchased a used Burstner with a collection 6 weeks after purchase. Nothing had been done that was promised and the handover was extremely poor. I had requested that A/C was fitted along with 2 solar panels. The solar panels were very poorly fitted with a list of faults 1 of which was in my mind was dangerous that being that one of the solar panels were fitted using only 2 fitting brackets when it should have six. I have contacted John by email direct twice and tried to call him however he has yet to respond. Items of poor fitting are 1. Panels have been wired reverse polarity.
2. Panels not secured properly one panel has 4 brackets and the other has 2 brackets and some sealant to stick it down
3. Wiring to EBL99 solar control very poorly wired.
4. Cable ducting not sealed properly.
5. Loose cables between panels
6. Solar controller not working.

There have been many more issues with the Motorhome but dont want to go through all the details suffice to say I would recommend you find a good reputable dealer to purchase your pride and joy from.

The entire team at BC went above and beyond to ensure delivery was made on time. Hand over was first class and John went it great details on the setup of this machine.

Highly recommend BC for your future needs and we will most certainly be back

Excellent aftercare from BC Motorhomes

We purchased a new Carthago motorhome earlier this month and it’s fair to say that the first few days of ownership were challenging. We had issues with the water system and also the newly installed alarm.

However, we reached out to Aidan and John at BC and they did everything possible to rectify the issues in the shortest possible time. We ended up taking the motorhome back to the dealership so that they could sort the issues, which they did.

Our additional time and expenditure were taken into account by John and for that we are very grateful.

We are long time motorhome/caravan users so we understand the complex nature of the various electrical/water systems that are installed and it’s unusual not to have some teething issues. The thing that matters is how efficiently they are dealt with by the dealer and we cannot fault BC Motorhomes in that regard.

5 stars for BC Motorhomes

We , have just purchased a Dethleffs globe bus A class new from BC Motohomes. All at BC were very professional and looked after us all the way, from excellent trade in value ,changing our original order to sorting out all the extras we added. The handover from Aidan was extensive and excellent the best we have had to date. We would not hesitate from buying another motorhome from BC in the future. Already booked in for next years service and habitation checks. Thankyou to John Frew and his team. Jon and Tracy

Very happy

Been looking to upgrade our campervan and had looked at several potential vehicles. BC attended our local leisure show where we had been impressed with the range of vehicles they had and with John and Aidan's knowledge, experience and understanding of what we were after. We were keen on a specific model and after several emails to Aidan we visited their showroom and decided to trade in our old van and purchase a new motorhome. We picked up the van about 4 weeks later and during that time Aidan kept us up to date on progress, and fitting of alarm/ immobiliser and a couple of extras. On the day of pickup Aidan provided a very thorough handover before we left the showroom and subsequently has forwarded us a couple of self-fit accessories which were not in stock when we picked the van up. Overall very happy with purchase experience from Aidan and BC Motorhomes

Recently bought a Malibu Charming from BC Motorhomes. Amazing van, absolutely love it! Aidan gave us a great handover and made sure we were good to go before we left the forecourt. All the BC staff I've spoken with have been very professional and helpful. Great overall service.

I hate reviews that don’t give specific details but i am sorry the saga with these incompetents has just gone on too long and I don’t wish to revisit all the occasions and examples of diabolical customer service. The guys seem nice enough, they just have no leadership or common sense. Unless they have something on the forecourt that you are happy to just pay for with no comeback i just feel it is my duty to warn you away from entering into any servicing, upgrades, ordering of parts or purchase of motorhome for future delivery.

Had great service in the past so I tried to contact them recently. I understand they are under new management. I phoned over 10 times in early April 2025, no one answers the phone.
I was interested in using the brokerage service advertised on their webpage, so filled in all the details on the form. 14 days later they still haven't got back to me and doesn't seem likely they will.
There seems to be a marked difference in service with the new owner.

Beware

Based on initial contact and problem sorting, I would have given 5 stars.
However, a van that we sold after 3000 miles needed brake discs all round, shock absorbers and a new handbrake mechanism....after a, supposedly, clean MOT just 4 months back.
I certainly wouldn't buy from them again, and I wouldn't recommend.
Shame really....a bit of fulfilment of moral responsibility and this could have been so different.

PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL BEFORE YOU ENGAGE WITH THIS COMPANY

I read the 5* reviews and wonder if we were all dealing with the same company. If you are considering a purchase from BC be extremely careful. The website looks very professional but the reality for us was very different indeed and ended up with us securing a refund via the Financial Ombudsman for a sub-standard motorhome sold as ‘new from the factory’. We were faced with a ‘perfect storm’ situation where a bad product met a company providing bad service and the result was that the last six months has been absolutely awful. I wouldn’t wish this experience on my worst enemy. The psychological impact is difficult to measure and it is only now that we have reached a resolution that we can see just how severely we have been impacted. If I can save just one person from going through all that we have experienced then the length of this review will be worthwhile.

Your Rights. Be very clear about the protection you are offered under the Consumer Credit Act and the Consumer Rights Act. Check the timescales, they are critical. If you are buying anywhere around Christmas and the new year, be aware how the Christmas closure period at the dealership will affect you.

Check the Terms and Conditions. You don’t have to read far before you realise they are mostly a cut-and-paste from a larger and more professional company. They are NOT members of the Retail Motor Industry Federation and you will not therefore be able to use the National Conciliation Service. They are NOT registered with the Financial Conduct Authority so you will not be able to use the services of the Financial Ombudsman (unless you opt for credit and then you will probably have the protection offered by the finance company).

Look at the Contact Details. You will see that there is just one traditional landline number which, unless you are very lucky, will divert straight to answerphone. You may be more fortunate if you are looking to buy a new motorhome as they will obviously want to speak to you. After the deal is done, you may experience problems getting anyone to talk to you.
You may wish to try 01292 299066 which is an alternative number for John Frew. We were never offered any mobile numbers.

Requests for call backs, emails and traditional letters are likely to go unanswered. Please document all of your exchanges and meetings.

Fiat Professional services are not available at BC. If you are purchasing anything on a Fiat chassis check what service is available with your local Fiat Professional Garage. Our local Fiat Professional refused to take referrals from BC Motorhomes. Diplomatically, they would not explain why but I think it’s fairly obvious.

Dethleffs Family is a myth. When all else failed in our dealings with BC we tried to go direct to Dethleffs. There is no representation through the Erwin Hymer Group in the UK and we were not successful in any of our dealings with Dethleffs Customer Service in Germany. All routes lead back to BC and the frustration will continue.

Facebook. Lots of happy smiling faces on here but, interestingly, no comments from anyone who is less than happy which speaks volumes.

Everyone went well beyond what could be expected. Although we were buying the 'cheapest on the lot'.....when faced with a technical problem exacerbated by the incompetence of the AA, the service was amazing and a replacement vehicle was driven over 100 miles to us and the recovery arranged privately at no cost to us.

Guys went the extra mile......

I had an issue with my MH habitation door lock which broke just before setting off on this trip. Tried in vain to obtain a replacement everywhere (phone/Internet etc). Happened to be in the Ayr area and contacted BC Motorhomes. Tom in the after sales dept was absolutely brilliant - nothing was too much trouble and although he couldn't source the exact part, one of the workshop Techs (Louis) managed to 'adapt' a handle to fit. Both went the extra mile and top guys as well. Tom also sourced a replacement door mirror for me after a German driver forgot which side of the road we drive on!!
Can't recommend this company enough - they got me out of a pickle.

Would not recommend this company at all

What terrible service and rude and obnoxious owner! Took our 2019 camper van to have a blind on the hab door fixed - it isn't secured and rattles loudly (under warranty). After booking, they had it a full day, it then came back unresolved, but supposedly fixed. Booked it in again and it came back with bits of Polystyrene "shoved" into the back of the blind to stop it rattling, rather than fixing the unit under warranty. Back a third time only to be told "because you didn't buy it here I don't have the time to do this". On checking, I believe the Autosleeper warranty allows the work to be carried out at any dealer. The owner was dismissive and downright rude. We even met another ex customer who we knew as he was passing and he came to tell us he would never be back here either because of the terrible service and attitude of the owner. The receptionist, Donna, was lovely, very helpful any time we called and we really feel sorry for her! We actually went there first to buy a Kingham but they had low stock in everything (understandable given the current situation), but are so glad that we didn't buy from here when we see the unacceptable workmanship and poor service.
