Staff was great, but the car was not in the best technical condition. I was afraid to go over 90km/h on highway, it felt like it is dismantling and it had errors on the dashboard so I was feeling like at some point I will end up on the side of the road with a broken car.

Absolutely outstanding service! As a tourist visiting Naples, I couldn’t have asked for a better car rental experience. The staff were exceptionally kind, professional, and welcoming from the moment I arrived.
What impressed me the most was how incredibly fast everything was—I had my rental car ready in less than 10 minutes! The entire process was smooth, efficient, and completely stress-free.
The car was spotless, in perfect condition, and exactly what I had booked. Thanks to their excellent service, I was able to start exploring Naples right away without wasting any time.

I was very disappointed with my experience.
On 30 June 2026, about 30 km after picking up my rental car, I realized that the air conditioning was not working. In the middle of summer, this is not a minor issue. I had no choice but to drive all the way back to the rental office to exchange the vehicle.
Although the car was replaced, I was still charged €17 for the fuel used in the defective vehicle. Because of the company's faulty car, I had to drive an additional 60 km and lost around 3 hours of my day. I believe customers should not have to pay for fuel or incur extra costs when the vehicle they receive has a mechanical problem.
What disappointed me the most was the lack of customer support. Instead of taking responsibility for the inconvenience, I was left covering costs caused by a vehicle that should have been in proper working condition before it was rented out.
The replacement vehicle was fine, but the way this situation was handled fell well below my expectations. I hope the company improves both its vehicle inspections and its customer service.

The worst experience I have ever had hiring a car.
I picked up the vehicle from Naples train station and after driving for a few hours that day I realised they had given me a car with damage on the metal alloy in the tyre. As I was looking at the damage I was approached by a police man who informed me that the damage was very serious and unsafe to drive on, he therefore escorted me to Automanias head office but no one was there - it was 9:45pm. The police officer tried to call the office but no one answered. He therefore told us to drive extremely safely back to our accommodation, and to call automania imminently the next day.
After calling them they agreed the damage existed prior to collecting the car, but assured me that it was fine. They were extremely patronising, but alas I listened and got on with my day, even though the car felt strange when I was driving it. "Madam if the tyre isnt flat, everything is under control"
I woke up the next day and the tyre was flat. Because of this I missed an experience I was really looking forward to worth £60 in tickets. They just told me to change the tyre to the spare one in the boot, no support further than that. The tyre was a really small one, only meant for short journeys e.g. to the garage - and was quite deflated anyway.
They eventually told me I could drop the car off and get a new one but it would've taken me 3 hours to do that, 3 hours out of my day because they gave me a damaged car! I decided I would wait another day, not use the car I was paying for because it didn't feel safe, and drive slowly back to the office the next day.
Frankly they were extremely rude. I was incredibly upset with the lack of support I received. I was told I would receive a refund but I never did and I have been in engagement with them prior and they have been nothing but rude.
I just want to say as well, after investigating Italian laws regarding car safety the car did not uphold to the standards. I also did a background search on the car to see when it was last serviced and it appeared it had not been documented has having been inspected since before 2018 (using the Il Portale dell'Automobilista). In Italy you need to have it inspected every 2 years. The car they gave me was dangerous, it was lucky that the tyre became flat when we were not driving on the motorway or windy roads.
I will say there was one lady who was very helpful about the situation, I am grateful for the support she provided. However after dropping the car off I have been receiving correspondence from another individual who has been passive aggressive and unhelpful.
My main concern is not the inconvenience or the missed excursion—it is that this company knowingly instructed me to continue driving a vehicle after I had reported damage that a police officer had described as unsafe. In my view, that decision put my family and other road users at unnecessary risk. I have all the documentation of the damage and my communications with this company, I really hope they will review their safety procedures to keep others safe.
Please be wary of this company, even though it is cheap it is not worth it. The stress and anxiety this caused me and my family was so unnecessary on what was supposed to be a fun holiday. I really hope sharing my experience will stop other people from being placed in dangerous situations.

on June 8th I have rented a car in Napoli and returned it without any issues on June 12th. Unfortunately, until today the blocked 700,- security deposit did not get back to me, and is still blocked in my credit card account. Moreover, I got charged one cent after all.

We had an excellent experience with Automania! We rented a car from them in Bari during our trip to Italy, and everything exceeded our expectations.
Although we had booked a Golf-sized car, we were pleasantly surprised to receive a Volkswagen Taigo at no extra cost. The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, and professional throughout the entire process. The car was in perfect condition and made our trip even more enjoyable.
What impressed us the most happened after we returned the car. We accidentally left our child’s headphones inside, and the team kindly brought them to us at Bari Airport without hesitation. That level of customer service is truly exceptional and speaks volumes about the company.
We will definitely rent from Automania again the next time we’re in Italy. Highly recommended!
