Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 101 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people found customer service to be consistently poor, describing it as unhelpful, unresponsive, and difficult to access, with some reporting feeling misled or misunderstood. Customers frequently encountered issues with their subscriptions, including unexpected charges, problems with cancellation, and losing access to content they had paid for. Reviewers also expressed frustration over credits expiring or being taken back despite being paid for, and reported instances of books disappearing from their libraries or being charged for services they did not receive. Additionally, some people noted difficulties in providing feedback on books with faults and experienced issues with insufficient audio samples, making it hard to evaluate purchases.

Please don't give them you money...

Please don't give them anymore of your hard earned money. They don't care about their customers. I've been an Audible Premium member for years and then suddenly I get a message in my app that my account is going to be switched to Standard in a month's time. I think it was some kind of a glitch. I reported this and the customer service representative told me to ignore the message on the screen and that I'm still on the Premium account. I don't think they even took the time to check or investigate. Surprise, surprise, after a month I was switched to Standard. I cancelled my membership straight away. They are all about grabbing money but you don't even get the basic amount of support. I switched to a different audiobook provider and couldn't be happier! I wish I'd done it before....

Too hard to leave

I think the concept of credits is an absolute lie. Not being able to cancel your membership and keep the credits you already paid for is an evil joke.

Steals your money and doesn’t allow you to build up credit credits - utterly awful

My sister got me into this app – giving me a free title – I signed up – paying monthly thinking that I would have credit buildup and so that when I have time I could download some books and start listening – turns out that although I pay every month – I only Get a book if I make sure I login and download it before I make my next payment.

This is Ludacris – I can’t believe I have wasted my money – three months payment and just one book.

When I go on and I have a look at the fine print – it’s in there but there was no clear reminder.

When I go online, it suggests that They send out a reminder to tell you to choose your selection before your next payment cycle – that never happened.

I’m pretty disgusted – I don’t understand the reasoning behind this as they have lost my custom.

Farcical Incomitance !

Farcical Incomitance !

That's what comes to mind when I think of Audible.

Firstly NO usable customer service number as it rings for one second then tells you this number is busy day in day out for over a week so effectively its non-existent.

So the only way to speak with them is go trough Amazon customer service ( Always good quick an efficient ) who put you through to Audible but then you get someone repeating the same script over and over again to the point I asked the agent if he was human or an AI bot.

After nearly an hour of going round in circles I asked to speak with a manager but now three days on still no call back from these cowboys.

Full cast audio books

Found this company after seeing Harry Potter book with full cast. It’s amazing. I love the different actors and recognise some real famous voices. I think the surround sound is fantastic with all the atmospheric sounds. Never been fussed with normal audio books, but these full cast books are fantastic. I’m all in.

Audible is as revolutionary an…

Audible is as revolutionary an innovation as the printing press was ,in its day; empowering, not only people who did not have access to the written word as was the printing press; rather enabling people who cannot read to fully appreciate any written work.

Revolutionary then, for dyslexic, partially sighted or any other visually challenged and blind people.

For other students, young or old, it may well help them brush up on their listening skills; a vital skill that, sadly, many have lost, if indeed, they had them in the first place.

Other students may use their ears to the full freeing their hands for note taking.

Utterly shocking

Utterly shocking. You pay a monthly fee to purchase an audio book using your one credit with promise of unlimited listening to "thousands" of books in the Plus catalogue.

So in the you click browse the Plus catalogue and a total of 26 titles, audio books and mostly podcasts. The search feature has a filter that doesn't actually work so finding your included titles from the app is impossible. You can browse by every conceivable option EXCEPT by the Plus titles included.

Customer support doesn't actually exist, it's a stupid automated AI system that takes you round in circles, no direct email or phone number.

Month one I got my one credit, within a week the credit disappeared but I had no books purchased or in my library. Same happened in month two and month three I just didn't get my free credit.

The items I did find in the Plus category were mostly stuff that you get for free online anyway.

How this is even legal I have no idea, its a massive scam.

Audible's Customer Disservice is a complete joke

I wanted to find a page where all my reviews are listed (pretty much like you can on Trustpilot, Amazon, and any sane website). But after googling and being told to click on my 'Listener page', or 'Reviews and Ratings' non of those options exist. According to ChatGPT Audible keep 'updating' their website, so most search results on google or suggestions from ChatGPT are out of date and don't work. Their final suggestion was to contact Audible's customer service.

If you click on 'contact us', the first thing you notice is they don't offer an email address. The only options are chat or phone. Because I've had bad phone experiences with them before (the people are nice but speak with a pronounced Asian accent that makes it difficult to catch every word, and there's a lot of misunderstanding goes on).

So, you click on chat, it gives you 4 options.
Membership
Your Account
Returns & Billing
Something Else

You click on 'Something Else'.

You get a heading that says, 'Pick an option closest to your issue'. The dropdown lists 2 options:
Trouble playing audiobook.
Topic not listed.

You click on 'Topic not listed'.

They ask, 'Tell us how you'd like to connect'
Chat (recommended)
Phone

You click on 'Chat'.

This is what you get:

'Hi! Thanks for contacting Audible. It's Audible's messaging assistant. What do you need help with today.'

The options it gives you are:
Returns and purchases
My membership
Unknown charge
Technical issues
My credits
More

You click on 'More'.

It gives you 3 options:
Help with promotion code
Gifts
Get help with a different issue

You click on 'Get help with a different issue'.

It goes right back to, 'What do you need help with today?'

Returns and purchases
My membership
Unknown charge
Technical issues
My credits
More

You click on 'More', and it offers the same 3 options as before:
Help with promotion code
Gifts
Get help with a different issue

You click on 'Get help with a different issue', and go right back to 'What do you need help with today'.

Honestly, if computers weren't so expensive, you'd literally smash your computer with a hammer at this point.

It's pathetic, a big operation like Audible, they won't give you an email address, their 'chat' is a robot stuck in a doom loop that goes nowhere, and their phone operatives are nice but often speak in unintelligible gibberish.

It's such a shame because their product is good, but this level of utter contempt for customers doesn't win them any friends at all.

My bank card expired and I had 5…

My bank card expired and I had 5 credits on my account. Because I did not update my card details and continue paying £7.99 a month they cancelled my membership and stole 5 credits from me. I paid £32 for them and they deleted them. I was not able to contact the company for any refund its a BOT company. Further research has indicated that customer service is rapidly going downhill with the business.

Such appalling Customer Service

Such appalling Customer Service I would say it is effectively criminal. Audible refuse to take responsibility for issues on their website and app and refuse to put any mechanism in place by which customers can address this. Subscription costs are taken, the paid for service is not provided, the company neither allow their customer service agents to escalate issues and complaints or provide any details anywhere so the customer can do this. They have just found a way to rip people off and not allow them to complain about it.

A book I had been listening to for 5…

A book I had been listening to for 5 hours suddenly disappeared from my library. I contacted support who gaslighted me telling me I never purchased it in the first place.

I had deleted the confirmation email as it was months prior and it was not in my purchase history neither were about half my books.

The customer supply was rude and refused to rectify the situation or acknowledge there was a problem.

I will be cancelling my subscription shortly.

Appauling customer service.

This app started out great a long time ago, it's a clunky useless advertising machine now. The final straw for me was them refusing to refund a purchase( I've made hundreds in the past) of a book that was apparently narrated by a robot. 35 hours listening to an AI voice talk in a monotone was completely unacceptable, and they refused to refund it despite acknowledging the problem. I'm done with this bunch of Cowboys.

Good value for money especially on a yearly subscription.

I was sceptical due to the number of negative
reviews. However I did an initial trial last month for £8.99, changed it to the £5.99 standard subscription with no problem at all and I was billed correctly. This week I took out a yearly subscription as it is much better value and I will get plently of use from it. I am pleased with the product so far. I use the Libby app also, but it has stopped working several times. Audible have audio books that Libby do not have and I've not found anywhere else. I've found it easy to use. I would recommend it and wonder why there are so many complaints.

Ah awful company

Ah awful company, customer service terrible and lied to me that they would call me back. Basically told me that my app doesn't work properly because my phone isn't running android 16 , my phone is literally a month old and running android 15. so they've made the app to only run properly on a handful of mobile phones. Great move audible.

Shameful and total rubbish

I was quite happy with the service when I joined in 2011 and it was by Audible.com. Then from somewhere it got changed to Amazon and went downhill. Titles I bought since joining in 2011 are disappearing from my library one by one although still showing in my purchase history. No one seems to know how to solve the problem. Rubbish customer service bought in from back of beyond where one cannot understand the accent or make the person understand what the problem is. A good product ruined by the Greed of Amazon. Shameful. Price has gone up and service is non existence. Rubbish with bows on
