CAVEAT EMPTOR The event insurance is a scam
The event insurance is a scam. Like most people I purchased the insurance for piece of mind in case something came up. In my case something did, a brother that had legal issues and needed my help. The claim was denied after proof of jail booking etc. was provided. While I realize now that this was not a covered incident I felt their advertisement for insurance to be very deceptive. On most of the ticket event sites it will encourage you to purchase in the spirit of, should anything come up! This is far from the truth. The fact is their acceptable excuses are extremely narrow and more than likely don't cover the common reasons you may decide to miss an event, such as family emergies, guests canceling, weather etc. This isn't insurance for unexpected events but five very specific events that generally do not happen. DONT give them your money.

Abhorrent insurance company who ignore all correspondence
Absolutely abhorrent insurance company, over 4 months after our 3 year old daughter was hospitalised in a major incident overseas we are still being given the run around. Ninety percent of their call centre staff are totally incompetent and lack necessary knowledge of their products and procedures. After months of half hearted apologies from staff (who openly admit a multitude of mistakes at their end) they still refuse to give our case to someone with the knowledge and insight to see it through to conclusion. Back to square one - Avoid at all costs!!

Bag snatched under my nose
My bag was snatched from under my sunbed while I watched from the sea, my real valuables were locked in the safe but my wife and I’s prescription glasses, sunglasses, my kindle and other small items were stolen as I watched.
I had a fractured ankle at the time and was unable to chase the thief and would not let my wife chase him either.
I immediately called the insurance company from Spain to report it and a woman (didn’t get her name) answered.
So I told her what had happened, she immediately asked “did you leave your item’s unattended”. She didn’t say “oh, that’s awful, let’s see what we can do?”
No, she asked if I had left it unattended , I explained that if she meant had I taken my book in swimming with me along with my prescription glasses and Oakley sunglasses then indeed yes I had left them “unattended”.
I did tell her that all of my other valuables (money, phones etc.) were secured in a safe on the beach.
This very unhelpful customer advisor seemed very VERY happy to inform me that “ahh sorry, bag unattended no claim, anything else I can help you with?”
I had been robbed, my wife and I had our prescription glasses stolen, looking back it was quite amusing trying to find out numbers to call from our phones when we couldn’t see anything.
But it wasn’t funny, my wife was distraught, I was angry and I couldn’t even chase the guy who picked it up and ran away as I have a broken ankle and was being helped into and out of the sea by my wife before taking off and then putting back on the.boot I have to wear from the hospital.
I have worked in customer service roles myself and have dealt with customers in one form or another almost all my working life (I am 63).
And I can honestly say that the service that Allianz-assistance gave me that evening was amongst the worst I have ever received.
I did call again when I got home and spoke to a man, this would be around 10am on 18th September. He at least had some manners and was a little more human, it didn’t change the “you left it unattended answer” but he had a little more empathy that the first “advisor”.
As I said, on the same day, 18/9/23 about an hour or so after I had spoken to Allianz-assistance I cancelled my ultimate reward account from Bank of Scotland which included Travel Insurance.
scammers, be careful do not buy this insurance
I have the Travel Insurance Policy - Policy : KLMGB7000065498.
I had accident while I was going to the airport, and I missed my fight .
So I had to buy another fight it cost me £905 and I had to book a hostel it cost me about £22.
They are just scammers, be careful, do not buy this insurance, it is just garbage.
I will take them to the court .

Insurance company that ignores claims
I booked a Cruise with my wife through Hays travel for December 2022 and took out their Covid travel insurance. My wife caught Covid three days before we travelled and we could not go. We informed the Hays Travel and the insurance company and filled in their online form. Two months later we started to call and e mail to find out how soon the refund would be paid. They did not reply and Hays travel in Wareham chased it for us and told us that the online form could not be found. I then rang the insurance company and they wanted me to claim through my credit card !!! I said that the Covid insurance covered us and we then had to fill in the forms again. I have been chasing since May and to this day I have not had one e mail or telephone call from them. They are fraudently selling a policy that they have no intention on paying out on when you have been ill. I will not travel with Hays Travel or take any insurance with Rush or Allianz and I am going to approach Watchdog about this company.

I have worked with many assistance…
I have worked with many assistance companies in my role as a US-Based flight nurse. A friend asked me to help with her travel medical issue. I was dreading calling, anticipating hours on hold. Quite the reverse, I got through almost immediately, explained the situation to "Trish" who was the Allianz rep. Trish was very understanding and actually conveyed a sense of concern. Trish quickly took the information and as promised called my friend and reassured her that Allianz would help her. I would have to say one of the best experiences with a travel assistance call center in many years !! Well done Allianz... Steve Williams, REVA

Layers and scammers !!!!!
Layers and scammers. I place the claim last year and its still not sorted I have been calling every week and every time they have a new excuses for my claim what its not sorted yet. I contacted customer support who is the same useless as all other team. My next steps will be taking them to court.
Terrible service. Please avoid them.
7 months and it's not even been reviewed?
Filed a claim in March. 7 months later still not even been reviewed! Rubbish!!
I could not attend Abba Experience as…
I could not attend Abba Experience as mu mother sadly dies. Claimed via my Policy I purchased when I bough the tickets via Ticketmaster. Had to chase many times. Eventually got email saying the money would be in my account within 5/10 working days on 12th September. Still nothing in my account as of 2nd October. Just been told that the I submitted the claim incorrectly!!! Shocking service.
Terrible experience
Terrible experience with them.
I made a travel insurance claim for a couple of nights of accomodation because of a cancelled flight due to a cyclone.
I made the claim back in February.
Since then and after lots of time spent in emails and calls to make sure there was no documentation missing they still haven't settled the claim.
I have already complained to ombudsman and my intention is to go all the way to small claims court and enforcement if necessary.
Never Again
EDIT IN RESPONSE TO ALLIANZ'S REPLY TO ME: You have not sent me a separate message asking for further information. This is utter nonsense.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: Shocking service. It was so stressful to deal with the processing of my insurance claim. Your online portal does not keep you informed. The existing time between communication was appauling. I was hung up on and waited an hour on the phone one day. I sent emails that weren't replied to. A disgrace of a company. The fact I need to keep paying for the Policy whilst you drag your heels processing the claim speaks volumes.

AVOID ALLIANZ!
AVOID ALLIANZ!
The absolute worst insurance company. Ive had an ongoing car crash claim for almost 4 years now..no communication at all. Then when my travel bag was stolen, my heart sank even more when i noticed they were the insurers
Missed event ticket insurance a waste of money
I bought the missed ticket event insurance. I was unable to attend a concert as I had a cancer diagnosis. I made two phone calls both people sent me to the portal, the portal doesn’t work properly….one of the customer service staff told me they had issues. Tried emailing, however the email address on my policy was incorrect. I have now given up with my claim, which is what I think this company wanted. They make it so difficult to claim that you just give up. Please don’t buy this product you will be wasting your money.
I purchased missed event insurance…
I purchased missed event insurance through ticket master. Unfortunately we were unable to attend due to my mother being in Intensive Care. Filled in everything on the online portal which was simple enough. Waiting a few weeks and nothing. Tried calling, emailing but no responses. I kept checking the status on the portal and nobody had even reviewed the claim two months later. Yesterday morning (2 and half months later of unsuccessful chasing and contact attempts) I sent a formal complaint email to three separate allianz email addresses, lo and behold, they phoned up two hours later to confirm card details to send the refund to. It almost seem no one even bothered looking at the claim but due to my complaint just thought it's easier to pay out. I wouldn't have minded waiting, IF I was being kept informed throughout, but this didn't happen. I would not purchase this insurance again and fingers crossed we don't need it!!
Scam company?
Waiting for £200 compensation for abysmal service since May!! They said they'd paid it, I proved they didn't, they said they will pay it and now they refuse to reply to emails. All I want us what is owed. Stay away from anything they are attached too. A shoddy, dishonest, incompetent company
Update
Spent 40 minutes on the phone and told person dealing with it was off that day and they'll contact me 2 days later. 7 days and nothing
Roadside Assistance left me stranded
Roadside Assistance/ Recovery left me stranded on a dangerous London motorway flyover so I could not exit my vehicle or walk anywhere. Police sent a crash impact barrier to protect me which Allianz Assist knew and yet they still did not recover me. They instead lost me in the system and was sending no-one to help me, which they admitted to me on the phone. Finally was recovered by the police 5 hours later, after calling them again and again begging for help. Sadly I broke down again a week later and they sent a mechanic who doesn't work with electric vehicles even though I made them aware of this, then they sent a pick-up truck that wasn't suitable for SUV vehicles, another garage who was too full to take the car and I personally had to sort getting the car stored somewhere else instead. Finally here I am months later still fighting to get back my taxi expenses as they failed to give me a replacement vehicle and told me to take a taxi that they'd reimburse. There is no disagreement with this costs being reimbursed to me just that for 6 months they have failed to process it and I am waiting for £240 from them. They told me it's on the system but not assigned to anyone. Now it is assigned to a manager and he has also failed to contact me. The worst service when you needed them the most.
Shambolic - designed to avoid paying out?
I wasn't able to attend the Battle of the Brits in December last year because my mum had to go into hospital. This was the first time I had ever purchased event insurance so I thought I would be ok. Here I am 9 months later and its been incredibly frustrating - an online claim form that didn't work, incorrect phone details for the event organiser, two phone calls where I waited over an hour to speak to someone cut off the first time and I gave up waiting the second, a claim form I painstakingly put together and posted which was lost and several promises by email that this would be sorted... still waiting. This has been a shambolic process and it feels like one designed to avoid paying out. I'd hate to think how an elderly person with less IT skills might fare.

Logged a claim 4 months ago and every time I call for an update, I get told someone will contact me in "a couple of weeks". Haven't received a single update from them, the online portal just says someone is reviewing my claim. I called again today and asked if they can give me a rough timeline of when I can expect an update, and was literally told "No". Seems like a scam!! AVOID ALLIANZ IF POSSIBLE!!!
I purchased tickets for a concert via…
I purchased tickets for a concert via ticketmaster. Clearly stated in my email that my tickets are protected by Allianz assistant. 6 months later the event comes but I’m sick in hospital and my grandmother passed away I can not attend the concert I contact Allianz to request my refund for £195 and they advise they do not have my details on the system. Seems ticketmaster have not paid them for my insurance or instructed them that I purchased insurance. I am not happy what a waste of money I was miss-sold and I plan to seek legal advice the amount of money they must make from this scam!
