Extra Fees!
Shady airline squeezing more money from passengers on top of their already expensive flight ticket prices. They title one of these charges "Airfrance's Support our investment in sustainable aviation fuel (SAF)". I was forced to pay over $60 for this nonsense fee. I also had to cough up another ~$100 or so for decent seats. Too many extra charges. Their website was slow, buggy and annoying to use also. Made the overall booking even more frustrating.
Catastrophic Pet Transport Failure - Dog Severely Injured, Cage Destroyed
On July 13, 2025, I paid €342.96 for Air France to transport my dog on flight AF963/LY9843 from Tel Aviv to Paris. What followed was a nightmare that left my dog with severe injuries and trauma.
What Happened:
My dog was checked in with an IATA-compliant cage, properly secured
44 minutes later, I was informed my dog had "escaped" and was found with severe injuries
When I asked about the cage, Air France staff told me it was "completely destroyed"
No explanation was provided for how professional transport equipment could be destroyed during routine ground handling
Injuries Sustained:
Severe burns on all four paw pads from hot tarmac
Multiple open wounds requiring emergency veterinary care (€406.88)
Ongoing medical treatment needed
Psychological trauma
Flight Experience:
Due to the destroyed cage, I was forced to hold my injured, bleeding dog AND my 5-month-old baby throughout the entire flight while my dog cried in pain. No assistance or solutions were offered.
Company Response:
Air France refuses to explain how the cage was destroyed
NO compensation offered whatsoever despite documented damages
They contradict their ground handler (Laufer) who claims the cage was "intact except for the door"
After legal notice sent, they deflected to Fischer FBC & Co. (Israeli law firm)
Executive office acknowledged the "distressing experience" but offered nothing
Documentation:
Case Reference: C-9746678
Warning to Pet Owners:
Air France cannot explain how professional pet transport equipment gets "completely destroyed" in their care and offers zero compensation for resulting injuries. Consider alternative airlines for pet transport.
Misleading confirmation email — lost my booking, higher price, no accountability
I booked a flight with Air France and received what looked like a clear confirmation: email titled “Booking confirmed”, full flight details, fare conditions, and even a line saying the ticket was non-refundable. It also listed a payment amount and method.
So I naturally thought my booking was complete.
Months later, I found out the reservation had been automatically cancelled because it was apparently just an option that expired, something that was not mentioned ANYWHERE in the email. No reminder, no warning, and no cancellation notice either.
When I contacted customer service, they said the email is “automatically triggered by a payment attempt” and doesn’t actually mean the booking is confirmed. Then why does it literally say “Booking confirmed”?
Now the same ticket costs more. I’m left with no booking, a higher fare, and zero accountability from Air France.
This is incredibly poor customer communication, and I honestly expected better for a company that is not a "low cost".
Not business class at all being made to…
Not business class at all being made to queue in economy to check in appaling service
Worst Airline EVER
Worst Airline EVER! Lost our luggage for days, said they would reimburse for clothing and personal items. NOPE pure misrepresentation. Consumers have way too many choices to fly poor quality, poor service, rude and lacks integrity. Don't waste your money!
Promised to Pay for Baggage Repair Then Refused
Air France damaged my baggage and told me to get it repaired, saying they would reimburse me. I followed their instructions, got it fixed for under €30, and provided all the documentation they requested.
After I completed everything they asked for, they refused to pay and said it was another airline's responsibility instead. They made a clear commitment, I did my part, but they didn't honor their word.
This was disappointing and unprofessional. I expected better customer service from Air France.
Disappointing from Check-In to In-Flight – A Customer’s Worst Travel Experience Yet
Air France Review: Disappointing from Check-In to In-Flight – A Customer’s Worst Travel Experience Yet
My recent experience flying with Air France was so shockingly poor, I feel compelled to warn fellow travellers.
Let’s start with the onboard meal (photos attached). What you’re seeing is not a joke. That is a single soggy bun with two lonely cucumber slices and a streak of unidentifiable orange spread. I asked the flight attendant what it was…..she couldn’t tell me. The bread was wet, limp, and completely inedible. Pair that with disinterested and borderline rude service from the flight crew, and the in-flight experience was a complete fail.
Unfortunately, things only got worse at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris. During the bag check process on July 11th, a male gate agent weighed both my and my daughter’s carry-ons. I was told mine was 2kg over. Although not happy, I stepped aside and removed a sweater to wear, along with a few other small items. My bag was reweighed and now fine. But the tone of the agent changed, he seemed irritated that I avoided having to check the bag, as though he were being paid per piece he made people check.
Then, in a clearly retaliatory move, he insisted on re-weighing my daughter’s bag….even though we hadn’t touched it. Suddenly, her bag was now also overweight by 2kg. When I protested and asked to speak to a manager, I was told “You can go find one. Managers don’t come to customers.”
Let that sink in: a paying customer is expected to roam an international airport looking for a supervisor while their gate agent refuses to assist, stares silently at them, and watches as they start to cry in frustration. It wasn’t until I turned to another agent—who looked genuinely embarrassed by his colleague that I finally got directions to the baggage drop.
To top it off, the same agent who initially addressed us in English suddenly switched to yelling at me and my daughter in French, then turned and shouted at his colleague in French as well, clearly aware that we couldn’t understand. It felt hostile, unprofessional, and discriminatory. I’ve travelled extensively in my career in Sales and Incentive Meeting Planner. I’ve dealt with delays, tight connections, and even the occasional rude employee. But nothing has ever come close to this level of humiliation and hostility.
Air France, your brand is built on the romance of French travel style, service, and sophistication. This experience was the opposite: incompetent, demeaning, and disgraceful.
Seat booking scam
Fraudulent trading? What would you call it when you take money for a seat booking, then months before the flight move the customer to much worse seats, much further back, without extra leg room and losing the window seat...all previously paid for on booking and still available. Then, asking for further money to re-secure the seats already paid for (or indeed still worse ones)...to be moved again? to have to pay again? and again, and again? Air France take money for seat bookings then gratuitously move you, to re-sell them, whether to you or someone else, whilst pocketing the money already taken. How can that be legal? It is disgraceful and dishonest. I can only advise not to book seats at all. The Company cannot be trusted and you may as well throw your money down the drain. I can see from other reviews that our experiences are systematic. It is obviously what staff are briefed to do
The "customer service" then plumbs the depths of utter unhelpfulness, excelling even in a sector where standards are so poor. Your enquiries will mainly not even be read but responded to with an AI auto fob off and/or cut and paste text reply based on words in your complaint, eg "seat". They don't give a damn, including about the thousands of terrible reviews. Again, obviously the staffed are briefed ro behave like that. The business obviously comes in anyway, but ours won't ever again.
Terrible experience
Terrible experience. Luggage was checked straight through from AMS-SXM. For some reason I was not allowed to board the flight and my luggage got held back for 5 days and pending. When contacting their agent, every day it’s a different story concerning my luggage. Very very terrible experience. Never in my life will I travel with them again!
I flew with Air France twice and never…
I flew with Air France twice and never ever again!! The airport staff are horrible, rude and ignorant, so are the flight attendants are even worse, my over head bag got moved to the back of the plane despite the fact I am disabled and had boarded the flight first! The plane is dirty, cramped and a mess to board! The service is horrible and to make it worse both times they damaged my luggage and denied the fault they never paid me for the damaged bags! Also, it is one of the dirtiest and unorganized airport I have ever been to through out the world
Scammed me for 300€ for my 1-year-old
Terrible customer service! 😡😡😡
I booked a flight for my family of 5 and wanted a dedicated seat for my 1-YEAR-OLD. I couldn't do it on the website, so a customer representative told me to book the flights for the other 4 members, then call and book the final ticket over the phone. When I did so, they charged me 300€ more for the ticket, arguing that now the plane had less seats available! 😱😱😱
What a scam! I filed a claim and they disregarded me. AirFrance is just a low-cost carrier disguised as a classy airline 👎👎👎
I’m shocked by how @AirFrance and…
I’m shocked by how @AirFrance and @FlyingBlue handled my parents’ ticket cancellation.
Without any prior notice, the two Business Class tickets I had booked for them (Flight VN0035, 5 July 2025, Hanoi to Munich) were suddenly suspended due to an internal fraud flag – simply because the booking was made from my account, while the passengers were my parents.
I understand the need for fraud protection. But in this case, the system completely failed, blocking legitimate tickets without any warning – no email, no call, no message in the Flying Blue account – and worst of all: it was irreversible.
At the airport, my parents were told they “don’t exist in the system.”
Customer support was not only useless, but shockingly cold and indifferent. Their response?
“Then your parents should just buy new tickets.” @FlyingBlue and @AirFrance have refused to take any responsibility.
This happened right after my grandmother’s funeral.
No credit card. No cash. No help. My parents had to rely on relatives to buy last-minute economy tickets – costing over €2,600.
it was horrible
it was horrible. customer service was terrible and rude. they went on strike the day before our flight, and messed up our whole vacation. we are with a group flying from paris to madrid and only 3 people got seats and 21 others got stand by. now 3 people that were forced to check their bags have to board the plane without anyone and the rest have to sit in the airport all day. no one was helping at all. never flying here again and i hope this sways people’s choices.
Air France doesnt value its loyal customers
@AirFranceFR @AirFrance just closed my case (C-9575545) without any compensation despite documented physical injuries & professional losses. Flight AF0564 Paris-Beirut June 4-5: 36-hour devastating ordeal with multiple gate changes, cancellations, and misinformation from incompetent staff. This is how you treat SkyTeam Elite members? #AirFranceFailure #CustomerServiceFail
incompetent Scammers
My flight was late 8 hours, and my return flight was cancelled and they say me that 10 hour before, and now I have to stay in Paris (the worst city of entire Europe) until there's another fly...I have to pay an hotel, and food for those scammers,as I say in my previous review...when you read France stay away, Maybe you can buy a baguette from them...and that's enough.
A good experience
I had a quite good experience flying with Air France from Warsaw to Luanda via Paris CDG. Both flights were on time, the planes were clean, and the crew seemed attentive and professional throughout.
A few highlights:
The coffee was genuinely good (not always a given when flying!).
The inflight entertainment screen was clear, well-sized, and free from greasy fingerprints – a small detail that makes a big difference.
However, there were a couple of drawbacks:
The seats were extremely uncomfortable in the upright position, especially on the longer Paris–Luanda leg. I usually don’t recline, even on long-haul flights, but this time I was forced to.
The meal (I chose pasta) was, frankly, awful. Sadly, this seems to be a trend across many airlines, likely due to cost-cutting.
Despite the issues, this was one of my better flights in recent years. I’d be happy to fly with Air France again
Do not fly with Air France
Do not fly with Air France! They are not able to organize the easiest tasks. The flight to Paris was cancelled, no help for a solution in Zürich, six hours later we arrived in Paris.
Three days later, the flight back to Zürich was again cancelled, the alternative overbooked. No help. No communication from the Air France staff, so we missed the only alternative flight to Zürich. Then we had to change to Munich.
This flight also was delayed.
5 flights in a little over 2 years!
5 flights the last 2 years!
All 5 were delayed !!!
🤯🤬

dog died because he got crushed between 2 conveyor belts while waiting!!! and they showed no compasion or guilt whatsoever!!!!
Abuse of power from representative in the Barcelona airport
I was shocked by the disrespectful and unprofessional behavior of an Air France representative at Barcelona airport. This person refused to give me his name, took personal offense, and tried to prevent me from boarding without any valid justification. He accused me of violating airline rules simply because I described his behavior in a critical manner.
He forced me to sign a document without explaining its content or giving me the opportunity to read it. This happened under intense pressure.
Such abuse of power is unacceptable for an airline like Air France. I hope a serious investigation will be conducted and that appropriate measures will be taken.
To all travelers: be extremely cautious if you come across someone like this. And above all, document everything.
