Awful customer service

Awful customer service. I erroneously booked my accomodation for a day too early. My fault entirely. Agoda's slow response and mon-empathetic reply meant I made a second booking for the correct date (one day prior). As I was at the hotel I complained about them not authorising a refund to which they said they had no booking anyway and would of course honour it. I'm still battling with Agoda and their complex terminology. Avoid this company. Scammers and terrible customer service.

Do not use Agoda. Fraudulent.

Do not use Agoda. Booked with them for the first time and had issues with my hotel during my stay. The hotel offered and authorized a refund. Agoda kept the hotel’s refund and I didn’t receive a dime. Zero customer service. Fraudulent.

I should’ve read this website review…

I should’ve read this website review before booking with this company because they screwed up my booking because I booked a hotel from the fourth to the sixth and then when I came on July 4, they said oh you don’t come into July 5 to the sixth. I was like no cause I paid for two nights which I got the 60% discount with the coupon promotion so I stay on the phone with the customer service. They gave me the runaround. They lied a bunch of times and they was very rude inconsistent with their question inconsistent with the answers didn’t add up and claim my book twice and then they said I booked three times which I never did and they claim they called the hotel and I asked the manager did they call they said no and they never called they never responded nothing and I showed them pro and says oh July 3 to the four then it says July 5 to the sixth, which I never booked like that and they won’t give me a refund. They won’t accommodate me. They just got me out of my money and so I went to the hotel manager I thought it was going on so she gave me a room which I thought it was accommodated for one night free and then 5 July 6 still keep but no at 10:40 PM the website sent me an email that they amended the room. They did not amend it. They keep saying they did. They never the manager did. And keep questioning me like I’m a criminal or something that’s a criminals who rip people are and when I kept asking for a manager, they said oh they weren’t independently. I was like you gotta have a boss you can’t be working independently then I thought they gave me a manager. They just gave me somebody else just give me the runaround also so don’t ever book from this website and they talk. My only one room left. Hurry up, rent the room and the hotel said they have plenty rooms. Yeah they custom service socks and their their website is all a scam so don’t ever book with these people read the reviews before you do.

It's just a scam

2.5 months ago I booked a flight with agoda. Paid around 150 USD. after 2 days they cancelled the reservation and never refund me back the money. Now I don't even have the account I paid with, each time CS try to find an excuse and told me that could take 5-15-30-45-60 days, that the refund was pending, this and that. It's clearly a total scam.

agoda.com skirts responsibility for their properties

The apartment I rented through them was an utter disaster. First of all, day of check in, they sent me a message saying you have to enter via the Service Entrance, kind of sneaky. Definitely shady. When I walked into the space, I was hit with the eyeballs burning smell of a crime scene clean-up. Strong bleach, chlorine? I tried to open the windows, but they were so encrusted with dust and grime, I couldn't grip the release. Anyway kicking that dust up was killing me, on top of my asthmatic lungs starting to tighten up. Walked around the room, it was extremely untidy. closet and fridge/freezer completely full, stovetop dirty, kitchen was a big NOPE.
I was there for all of two hours before my daughter made me leave, find another hotel before I had an asthma attack. Which I did. I spent not a single night there. I contacted the owners, they told me I have to tell them in advance if I have an allergy to cleaning agents. Gimme a break.
Now, Agoda hosts this room on agoda.com
They should bear some accountability. They told me that a refund would be entirely up to the owner. The Owner, of the space that was presented incorrectly? They had no motive to do that obviously, and they said no. Agoda offered me a $35 coupon for agoda.com. Are they serious? Nah, STAY AWAY.

Worst experience yet

Worst experience yet, false advertising multiple hotels. Would not recommend this service to anyone. Better off sticking with booking.com. Was on the phone with agoda customer service for one hour and just placed on hold

Agoda ultimately handled my complaint professionally

Following my original review, Agoda escalated my complaint to a specialist team.
Their representatives contacted me several times by telephone, attempted to reach the hotel owner directly, and eventually offered a partial refund funded entirely by Agoda after no compensation was approved by the property.
While I remain disappointed with the initial handling of my complaint and believe the process should have been more consistent from the beginning, I acknowledge that Agoda ultimately made a genuine effort to resolve the situation.
Although I remain disappointed with the hotel and with the way the Tabist brand handled my complaint, I appreciate Agoda's willingness to assist and to provide compensation even though the property did not.

Disappointing experience with Agoda

I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience with Agoda has been one of the most frustrating and exhausting customer service experiences I have encountered.

Our refund request has been ongoing since 22 June, and despite responding promptly to every email and providing every document requested, there has been no meaningful progress.

What has been particularly disappointing is Agoda's repeated assertion that the accommodation is refusing our refund. This is simply not accurate. The accommodation provider has confirmed to us in writing that they approved our refund request and have already processed the refund of the EUR 115 they received. They also advised that this refund can take up to 10 days to appear.

The remaining balance was not held by the accommodation. It is held by Agoda or one of Agoda's booking partners or wholesalers—an arrangement that was never disclosed to us when we made the booking. Rather than taking ownership of this issue, Agoda has repeatedly asked us to identify which third party is holding the remaining funds and obtain documentation from them.

This is completely unreasonable.Our contract was with Agoda, not with an unknown third-party supplier operating behind the scenes. As customers, we have no visibility of Agoda's commercial arrangements, nor should we be expected to investigate Agoda's supply chain to recover our own money.

Despite the accommodation confirming their approval of the refund, Agoda continues to rely on internal contractual arrangements as a reason for refusing to process the remaining amount. It feels as though we are being penalised because of Agoda's business partnerships—ones we had no knowledge of and no ability to choose or influence.

Throughout this process, the requested documentation has continued to change. Each time we provide what Agoda asks for, another requirement is introduced. Weeks have passed with little progress, AI generated responses, numerous agents involved, while we continue to spend significant time chasing updates and repeating the same information.

This has been an incredibly draining experience, made even more difficult because we are dealing with a family bereavement overseas. Instead of receiving practical assistance during a difficult time, we have encountered delays, inconsistent explanations, and a process that appears designed to avoid taking responsibility and avoiding refund.

Customer service should be about resolving genuine issues fairly and efficiently. Unfortunately, that has not been our experience with Agoda.

I hope Agoda reviews its refund processes, accepts responsibility for bookings made through its platform regardless of its internal suppliers, and stops placing the burden on customers to resolve issues created by Agoda's own commercial arrangements. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend Agoda to anyone who expects fair, transparent, and accountable customer support.

I had a very disappointing experience…

I had a very disappointing experience with Agoda involving a booking that was initially shown as “unsuccessful” with “payment declined.” Based on this information, I made other arrangements, believing no reservation had been created.
However, the payment was later processed in the background and a confirmed booking was issued under a different booking ID. The reservation was never used and no hotel services were received, but it was still treated as non-refundable.
The main issue is the lack of clear communication during the payment process, where a failed transaction status was shown while the payment was still being processed.
Although I raised this concern multiple times, the matter was not resolved and there was no further meaningful communication after the final response.
This experience has significantly affected my trust in the transparency and support handling of Agoda’s booking system.

Extremely unreliable booking platform

Extremely unreliable booking platform. Booked a hotel a week ago and received confirmation. On payment day, I was notified my card was declined and was sent a repayment link.

I attempted payment with three different credit cards from three separate international banks. Every attempt showed as unsuccessful. I contacted all three banks directly, and they confirmed they had not registered any attempt or request for payment from Agoda. The issue was entirely on Agoda's side.

I spent over 6 hours speaking to three different Agoda agents. They tried to process the payments on their end, but faced the same failure. Ultimately, each agent simply stopped responding. I asked for an escalation to a supervisor twice, and both agents completely ignored the request. Despite repeatedly flagging that our reservation would be lost at midnight and that we are flying overseas in a few days, they did nothing.

The reservation was cancelled at midnight. The final response from the Agoda agent was: "reservation cancelled. NO PENALTY." As if not penalizing me for their system failure is a favor, when the exact same category of room now costs double the price to re-reserve. Avoid Agoda for any time-sensitive or overseas trip.

Agoda is not providing the TAX INVOICE…

Agoda is not providing the TAX INVOICE for the bookings done on Hotel stays. It is providing only a receipt which is not a Tax Invoice. The properties are issuing Tax Invoice for reduced amounts, which are remittee by Agoda to the property. This is affecting the claims on the bills.

I had a very disappointing experience…

I had a very disappointing experience with Agoda.

When I made my booking, I correctly selected July 4 to July 5, with an expected arrival time of 6:45 PM. However, Agoda processed the reservation for July 5 to July 6 instead. I immediately contacted customer service to have the dates corrected, but the support I received was extremely poor. Despite explaining the issue multiple times, it was not resolved in time.

As a result of Agoda’s error and lack of effective customer support, my niece was left with nowhere to stay and had to spend the night at the airport. This situation caused unnecessary stress, inconvenience, and expense.

I am still waiting for Agoda to process my cancellation and refund. The lack of communication and urgency in handling this matter has been very frustrating.

I expected a company of Agoda’s size to provide reliable bookings and responsive customer service. Unfortunately, my experience was the opposite. I hope Agoda reviews this situation, issues my refund promptly, and improves its customer support so other travelers do not have to go through the same experience.

No way to be served in french and when…

No way to be served in french and when I choose to talk to an English speaking agent he speaks barely the langage. The hotel gave me a credit following an issue with the room, but to do so as I paid Agoda, they sended them a virtual card to do the reimbursement. It was suppose to be credit on my card and 2 to 5 business day after. I’m calling and wrote without an answer. Don’t use them for your travel planning. No customer service….
