Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 4,280 reviews, most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Many people encountered significant issues with customer service, describing it as unhelpful and unresponsive, often leading to frustration. Reviewers also frequently reported problems with the refund process, with many struggling to receive full refunds or any refund at all, even when bookings were cancelled or not honored. The website was also a source of dissatisfaction for many, with complaints about its functionality and misleading information. The booking process itself received mixed feedback, with some finding it easy to use while others experienced difficulties, including bookings being cancelled or not recognized by hotels upon arrival. While some customers found competitive prices, others felt that initial low prices were misleading or that they were overcharged compared to direct hotel rates.

I called the hotel directly to confirm everything is correct as I'm travelling with a disabled person and the hotel told me that Agoda have used a third party to book a Villa which is 1 km away from the actual hotel. That might be okay for some people but not us.
I was advised to contact Agoda as the hotel can't do anything and it's been 2 days of people / robots saying "just waiting on an update. The booking information starts hotel room. Agoda is suggesting the hotel is lying. I've looked at other accommodation but now prices are triple the price and not all has what we need.
Please contact me to fix this as I will be charged which is actually what I think you want! I would like this to be sent to the escalation team.

I always preferred agoda due to its quick customer support and ease of booking but recently I have encountered an issue with my refund, I cancelled my booking and the agoda website showed refund completed but it was never done. I connected with their customer agents for support but always the same late responses that it has been completed through agoda and check with your bank but bank clearly said the refund was never received. This was not expected from agoda and I think I will have to reach out to consumer court to get my money back.

Unethical business practices

UPDATE (29. Mai 2026): Still NO ANSWER from Agoda support. I sent all requested details (Booking ID 1317135836) to support at agoda weeks ago. The check-in date has passed, I did not check in, and Agoda is completely ignoring my emails while keeping my money for a documented system glitch. This is unacceptable customer service. I demand a response from the escalation team immediately before this goes to the Financial Ombudsman.

Very worst experience with agoda

Very worst experience with agoda. We booked room through this site and then when we reached the hotel they tell us that they didn’t receive any confirmation from agoda. And they told us that all the rooms are also full. Then when we contacted agoda they literally took 4 hours 30 minutes to book another hotel. It was 12am in an unknown city with 2 females. where is our safety? That too after paying so much money. And they even told us they can’t refund money but book another room and made us wait for 5 hours. Please don’t trust this site.

Repeated Same-Day Booking Cancellations and Distressing Experience

I am writing to formally express my disappointment and frustration regarding the extremely stressful and unacceptable experience my family and I encountered during our Eid holiday bookings on May 27–28.

I booked accommodation through the Agoda app for 5 adults and 1 child at Sadaf 7 in JBR. The booking was confirmed through their app, and we arrived around 3:00 PM expecting a smooth check-in process.

However, upon arrival, we discovered that the location was purely an apartment building and not an actual hotel. The security guard asked us which apartment number we were assigned to, but Agoda had not provided any apartment details, host contact, or check-in instructions. We were told to contact the booking party ourselves.

There were already other guests waiting since 12:00 PM experiencing the exact same issue with Agoda bookings in the same building. After a very long wait, with a tired child with us, Agoda customer service was still unable to contact the apartment management or provide any resolution. Eventually, the booking was simply cancelled, and we were informed that the refund process would take up to 30 days.

Despite this very stressful situation, we attempted to have our family holiday by booking another property through Agoda on the same day — this time at Burj Royale. Shockingly, the exact same issue happened again. Upon arrival, we were informed that the confirmed 2-bedroom apartment was already occupied and unavailable.

At this point, the situation became extremely traumatic and exhausting for me and my family. Having two confirmed bookings cancelled on the same day after physically arriving at the locations is completely unacceptable. I cannot understand how Agoda confirms accommodations without verifying actual availability or ensuring proper coordination with property management.

As a Platinum VIP customer of Agoda, I expected reliability, professionalism, and proper support — especially during a major holiday period. Instead, my family experienced stress, uncertainty, exhaustion, and wasted time moving from one location to another with a child in the heat.

After these repeated failures, we no longer trusted online booking and had no choice but to directly walk into Rove Hotels to secure accommodation ourselves. Finally was able to checked-in past 6PM which is almost done to even enjoy in the hotel.

What was supposed to be a joyful Eid family celebration became a deeply frustrating and traumatizing experience because of Agoda’s failure to properly manage and verify its listings.

⚠️ DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH AGODA.

⚠️ DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH AGODA.
Agoda is a Singapore-based booking platform that I would strongly warn anyone away from. Here is what happened to us:
We booked a hotel in Kauai in February for our daughter. Within 24 hours, we attempted to cancel after she found out she couldn't make the trip. We contacted Agoda repeatedly — by phone and email — over the next 7 to 8 days trying to cancel the reservation.
During that time, Agoda sent us an email stating they were working on the cancellation. They also told us they had attempted to reach the hotel on our behalf. That was a lie. We called the hotel directly and the staff confirmed they had never received any communication from Agoda.
Agoda then ghosted us completely — and charged us the full price of over $1,100.
We spent the next three months chasing them for a refund. After all of that, we recovered just over $300. They kept 73% of our money for a reservation we tried to cancel within 24 hours, that they confirmed they were processing, and that the hotel never even knew was being cancelled.
Bottom line: DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH AGODA. They are dishonest, unresponsive, and not worth the risk.

I had a very disappointing experience…

I had a very disappointing experience with Agoda and I strongly advise people to think twice before booking with them.

I booked Hotel La Shohada in Mecca, Saudi Arabia for my trip from 3 July to 7 July. The total payment was £429.13. Unfortunately, my Wizz Air flight was cancelled because of the serious political tensions and possible war situation involving Iran and the USA. This was completely outside of my control.

Even after explaining the emergency situation and providing proof that the airline cancelled the flight, Agoda refused to refund my money. They keep saying that the hotel in Mecca is not approving the refund, but as a customer I booked and paid through Agoda, so I expected much better customer support and protection.

This situation has caused me stress, financial loss, and disappointment. In times of crisis, companies should support their customers instead of hiding behind hotel policies.

Very poor customer service, no flexibility, and no understanding for exceptional circumstances.

I do NOT recommend booking with Agoda.

Do not book with Agoda

Do not book with Agoda! They will email you shortly after saying the booking was cancelled due to an error. When you arrive to your hotel (if you book with someone else) you will find the booking was never cancelled and now you’ll have two bookings. And you can’t refund it cause it’s strictly non refundable. Trivago takes your money but Agoda cancels it, so when you want to claim back your money with the bank the evidence won’t be there of Trivago cancelling, cause Agoda use a different reference number.
