Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 135 reviews, most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Many customers found the products to be of poor quality, often describing them as cheap and not meeting expectations for the price paid. Reviewers frequently felt misled by the company's branding, which suggested British craftsmanship, only to discover items were made in China. The delivery service was a significant concern for many, with long waiting times and issues regarding tracking information or incorrect deliveries. However, some people also felt that despite the Chinese origin, the product quality was acceptable or even good, especially considering the cost.

BEWARE LIES, MADE IN CHINA.

Thought they were a British company and because I will not buy Chinese goods I ordered one, when it arrived 2 weeks later (which rang a few bells) it had a "made in China" label in the back. I could have bought a similar cap for half the price.
These caps are CHINESE,!!!

Winston and Wilfred...

Winston and Wilfred.... DO NOT PURCHASE from this CHINESE company that is actually under the umbrella of AliBaba. It is falsely misrepresenting the products on sale. The adversting suggests that this is a British company IT IS NOT. I feel such a fool, purchasing at expense a cheap piece of rubbish that took 2 weeks to arrive from China. I DO NOT KNOWINGLY BUY FROM CHINA ..... genocide is happening in China . Manufacturing employees live on the factory sites, work 6 days a week long hours, and go home for New Year! I was an auditor and used to review products on sale by Alibaba, stolen designs and false advertising. BEWARE

This was a terrible experience

This was a terrible experience. I ordered two caps and the delivery company, delivered them to the wrong place. The picture that was taken showed only the package and not the surrounding area. After they investigated and where unable to trace it, they sent me this email….

Dear Customer,
Thank you for your patience while we investigated the status of your package with tracking number …
.
Our internal quality team, in partnership with the delivery service provider, has completed a thorough review. Our investigation suggests your package may have been lost. We sincerely apologize for this error and the frustration it has undoubtedly caused.
As the seller is your point of contact for order and payment-related issues, your next step is to contact them directly to request a refund or a replacement for the missing order. They should be able to process your request promptly.
To assist you, you are welcome to share this email with them as confirmation of our findings.

I contacted Winston & Wilfred several times, letting them know I had not received my order and including the above email. They did their own investigation and found that the package had been “delivered” (true, but not to me, the one who placed the order). Because it had been delivered, they refused to do anything – except offer a discount if I placed another order! (Why would I do that?).

So, they kept my money and I received nothing in return.

DON’T DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE!

Stephen W.

Wish I had read the reviews about this company, they make out its good quality British made product, mine arrived like it was from Temu all plastic packaging and poorly packed. I ordered them as a gift for my partner but dont think I will be. Just wanted something unusual and special....

London or China

Don't have anything to do with this "company."
The impression is given that these hats are made by the "hatters" in London. Difficult to believe when the product arrived eventually with a "made in China." label. I felt I'd been conned.
The return info email read as follow: Thank you for your message, and I completely understand that you’d like to return your item.

While Winston & Wilfred is proudly based here in the UK, our production and fulfilment partners operate from our overseas facility, which means that all returns are processed through our international warehouse in China.

Unfortunately, the cost of return shipping from the UK is often higher than the value of the cap itself, and we never want you to feel at a disadvantage.

To save you that expense and inconvenience, we’d be happy to offer you a goodwill refund of up to 50% of your order total, and you’re very welcome to keep the cap, perhaps to donate or gift it to someone else.

However, if you’d still prefer to return the item for a full refund, you’re more than welcome to do so. Please send it via any tracked postal service of your choice to our fulfilment centre below:

Return Address:

Contact Name: Wang Maoqin
Lane 1177, Jianlan Road, Meixu Street, Yinzhou District
Ningbo, Zhejiang 315100
China

Once your parcel has been received and inspected, we’ll process your full refund straight away.

Not impressed

Not impressed, slow delivery and quality along with missleading provenace were my main concerns. It took 10 days to recieve this item which is way to long. Quality was not as expetced and a similar item could be bought at a local market for half the price, with a name such as Winston and Wilfred you are led to believe British manufacture not "Mafe in China" and no branding on the inside just a simple label, hence the title "Not impressed" I did keep the cap but would never buy from this shell company again.

I was going to purchase two hats until l noticed the labels inside the hats. One made in China the other Canada. I won't be purchasing from a company who is not transparent in telling customers where their products are made.

Headwear imported from China

I think their website is a little misleading as it transpired the item was made in China and shipped to the UK meaning it took 2 weeks to arrive. Having said that at least one of the photos had a clear Made in China label. I also suspect much of the back story could be fantasy. The item itself is as described but a little underwhelming and not good value compared to the cost and craftsmanship of similar items available in my local area. Communication from the seller was good as was the tracking. I will make full use of my cap but feel that my experience was not as transparent as it should have been.

Made in China by NANGUAN Company

I’m fed up with companies who intentionally lie by giving the impression their products are British made but in reality they are made in China.
The label in the cap clearly states it was Made in China by a sweat shop called NANGUAN. They couldn’t even be bothered to sew in a fake Winston & Wilfred label.
It’s time Trading Standards put a stop to this.

Two caps ordered. Arrived after 2 weeks and on spotting the made in China label in each realised why it took so long. As others have said, it’s a shell/sham company purporting to have heritage and integrity buts just a drop ship company in China.

Quality is absolutely mediocre at best and products not worth anything like the retail price.

Well done on your insane profit margin guys but I won’t be buying again.

Leather cap’s decent

Leather cap’s decent, bit firm at first but loosens up after a few days. Got a proper weight to it. Looks smart with my jacket. Wouldn’t wear it in summer though; bit too warm for that.

REPLY IS
Thank you for reaching out to us. I completely understand how this might seem confusing, and I’d be happy to clarify.

Winston & Wilfred is indeed a family-run brand based in London, where all of our designs and creative direction are developed. Our collections are inspired by traditional British craftsmanship and heritage styling, something we take great pride in.

To make our products more accessible while maintaining our high standards, we partner with trusted production specialists in Asia. Each piece is carefully crafted under strict quality control, then shipped directly to our customers, often by air to ensure safe and timely delivery.

This approach allows us to offer exceptional quality and value without compromising on the design principles that define our British identity.

I hope this clears things up a little, but please don’t hesitate to reach back out if you need further assistance.
Warm regards,
Sofia

Winston & Wilfred - spoof Chinese company

When you see a name like Winston & Wilfred Hatters a picture comes into your mind of an old fashioned, quality-making hat company. Not so. I ordered a cap for my husband. The quality is "OK" but not great. The only label inside is a Chinese one and I therefore must come to the conclusion that yet again, the Chinese are creating spoof companies that sound like good "old English" traders under the umbrella of cheap Chinese goods. When will Trading Standards do something about this for goodness sake???

Wrong Colour,Material and extended Delivery time

The Cap took the best part of two weeks to be delivered, strange for an "English Company". On opening the package, it's the wrong colour and material! I did note that they bank in Vancouver and my cap was put on a flight, maybe it went on holiday before getting to me! I have emailed them to see how/if they are going to rectify this. I'm not expecting much, if anything after reading the reviews
