Windows 11 locks me out

Windows 11 is worse than a virus. It locked me out for 30 min doing updates, then said sorry something went wrong. Another 30 min lockout while it undid the updates. Then another 30 min doing other updates. It's done this with failed updates at least twice, and with other updates almost daily. I want Windows 11 to ask me what to do when updates are available, not just barge in and lock me out. Worst system I have ever used in 50+ years computing.
