Amazing experience and service

The team at Auckland were really friendly and helpful (as motorhome novices we needed it). Quality of the Motorhome was high and we had a brilliant two weeks. We bought the VIP package which was really helpful as you get everything you might need and no excess which was handy when I hit a lamppost reversing (wally!). The folks at Wilderness were super helpful and were not the least bit negative.

When we returned to Christchurch again the team were super helpful and when we left our passports in the safe of the motorhome they organised a courier so they could catch us up.

Well this wilderness campervan hire is head and shoulders above the other competitors! We were looking to book a 2 week rental to tour NZ. Coming from GB we had no idea who to rent with, but we made the right decision! We went with the VIP package on the compact van. This was a good decision as I got too close to another van and took out a light. It was NO issue - it couldn’t have been simpler to be deal with. The real stars are the staff. Javi & Thomas couldn’t have done more for us from the beginning to the end. They were knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble from recommending supermarkets and helping to return some documents we’d left. The van was in good working order and spotlessly clean. We got entry laundry as we were away for 2 weeks and they even stored our big suitcases for us whilst we were away. Couldn’t praise or recommend this company highly enough. The pricing was maybe a fraction higher than competitors - but I’m a great believer in you get what you pay for and the all round service and product was truly 10/10. We plan to return to do the south NZ island in 26 and we will definitely be hiring our van from wilderness! Thanks Javi & Thomas.

This is our first camper holiday (36 days) and we are so glad we booked with Wilderness. We booked a Twin King for 4 people. We didn’t have any problems with the vehicle (5904 km).
Everything went smoothly both the receiving and delivery of the camper. Can only recommend Wilderness- 5 stars👍

This is our first motorhome holiday and we are so glad we booked with Wilderness. We booked the King for 4. The motorhome interior is of good quality and is designed with careful consideration for space-saving, functionality and comfort. The amount of storage space available is unbelievable. What strikes us most is the excellent customer care and on-road assistance they provided when we encountered issues. They followed up closely and ensured that we were okay all the way. A big shout out to Nathan for his assuring and prompt response. Also thankful to James who so patiently and politely walked us through the briefing. Well done guys, keep it going!

Wilderness a great outfit - genuine service - from Q's before / during the rental process to pickup in AKL. Had a minor enroute problem that was handled straight away in Queenstown and back on the road w/in 3 hours. Plus staff called to inquire whether the service was satisfactory.

Hired a Double for 2 motorhome (7.4m long) from Wilderness for 23 nights to tour the South Island. Choosing Wilderness was one of the best decisions we made in preparing for this ‘trip of a lifetime’ from Cymru (Europe). Firstly, a lovely drive despite some challenging roads (automatic gearbox) and surprisingly efficient fuel wise.
Having an island bed and separate shower cubicle was important to us being away for so long and the motorhome from Wilderness was exactly as described at booking.
And knowing that should there have been a problem with anything whilst we were on the road Wilderness would have sent someone to sort it out gave us confidence. The welcome and introduction to the vehicle at collection was friendly and calm without being rushed off site. Similarly, at drop-off the same staff member (Manus) made us feel at ease and took us by courtesy bus to the airport. Manus is a credit to the company.
In summary, I would not hesitate to recommend Wilderness. Paying that little extra for first class service and great vehicle was worth every penny. And we had the most fantastic and memorable adventure during our visit to this beatiful country!

My wife and I recently had the pleasure of renting a motorhome from Wilderness in Christchurch for 14 days, and we can't say enough good things about the experience!

From the moment we’re picked from the airport, up the collecting our motorhome, it was clear that we were in for a fantastic trip. The vehicle was in pristine condition, and everything was in perfect working order.

The convenience of having all the amenities of home on wheels was incredible. The kitchen allowed us to cook our meals wherever we pleased but we do most of our heavy cooking in the Holiday Parks - Curry Chicken, Bak Kut Teh, Sardines, Hai Di Lao hotpot, instant noodle, hot coffee and many more. We only used the kitchen to re-heat our food when we stopped along the way or at a beautiful Lookout.

The bathroom facilities were clean and functional. Sleeping in the comfortable bed after a day of adventure was a real treat. The heating system inside the motorhome kept us warm and comfortable at any time or during driving.

The Wi-Fi system (unlimited data) in the motorhome worked like a charm, we don’t even need to use the free SIM card provided by Wilderness. (Note: SIM Card need to top-up).

Driving the motorhome was like a dream and surprisingly easy, and we felt safe and secure on the road. It handles well on the driving up and down those beautiful winding mountainous roads. It provided us with the freedom to explore and stop in beautiful, remote locations.

The customer service from the rental company was outstanding Bridget, Step & Manis.

Bridget was superb - she is very friendly, helpful and responsive to our questions and made sure we had all the information we needed for a smooth trip.

Our motorhome adventure was unforgettable, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and comfortable way to travel.

Wilderness provided excellent customer service at all stages of the process. The staff were friendly, responsive and knowledgeable. We would have no hesitation in hiring another motor home from them

Our 4th time with Wilderness and we wouldn’t use any other company! Excellent customer service and friendly staff. We had the van for 3 weeks, visiting both north and south islands. We chose a smaller van for ease of parking, narrow roads etc. but there was still enough storage for our stuff. We had a small problem with the reversing camera/music system but, after a phone call, this was dealt with promptly and efficiently. Would highly recommend Wilderness and we’ll be back!

We drove the Wilderness motorhome for 8 days on end of October. It was an amazing experience and the motorhome is perfect for exploring New Zealand: easy to drive(automatic transmission), low-height design(in case of strong winds), spacious and comfortable with all you need included, also very good Wifi coverage.

We also had help with planning the route and got the Ferry booked by Wilderness. Compared with other motorhomes I rented in Europe, Wilderness is next-level!

From time off booking to final drop off service and van were 5 star. Fantastic company and amazing customer service.

We hired a compact plus which came with indoor toilet and great shower. The swivel seats in the front were also great for more space when stopped at night,
Found our van to be very economical on diesel and also gas for cooking and low level heating at night.

Poor customer service, second class vehicles that aren’t maintained correctly, first class apologists.

Our fifth time renting a Motorhome around the South Island, yes we keep coming back and see something different every time. Our first time with Wilderness and I will not be the last. From picking up our Compact 2 vehicle everything went like clockwork. The vehicle was a pleasure to drive, so easy, and the attention to detail that this company gives you is second to none, we are very happy customers. The staff from check in to check out were outstanding, give yourselves a pat on the back because you deserve it, Cheers for now, We will return.

Picked Campervan up in Christchurch. Pick up was easy and hassle free. Van performed superbly for the 19day we had it. It was just the 2 of us and my wife was nervous about driving a 7 m long vehicle but the auto gearbox and handling made it a joy to drive. Enough was included inside to make living in it comfortable. If you are traveling the south island definitely get the internet option as we struggled without it, or buy a good road map. Had an excellent holiday made possible by hiring a solid reliable vehicle.

Great to deal with from initial enquire to handover when finished. Vehicle handled perfectly. Rides like a car with plenty of power. Packed with everything you need, and easy to operate including the heating. The motorhome is well insulated so no cold mornings. Staff at Wilderness are very helpful and went through everything and answered all questions. Guided us through all the best sites and apps to help our holiday. Awesome team.

Very easy check in process with great instructions on how everything worked.
The van its self was really comfortable and modern. It had heating but also a fan heater which was great for the mornings to take the edge off the colder mornings.
Was great to be self contained when on the road.
The van was so easy to drive and park. The bed was all made up before we picked it up. Came with enough cookware and towels and tea towels for our needs.
