I’m a subcontractor and used Wexley & Associates to submit my tax return, where I was due a £1,800 refund. After submission, HMRC unexpectedly sent me a letter saying I owed £10,000, which was a huge shock.

Wexley & Associates immediately disputed this with HMRC and investigated the issue. They discovered the problem was actually caused by my contractor submitting incorrect information. Once this was corrected, HMRC removed the £10,000 liability, reinstated my £1,800 refund, and apologised.

I was stressing because I had backlog with paperwork and deadlines approaching. I got fined in the past for missed deadlines for submissions so was dreding the same thing. And on top of that, my previous accountant never really explained my business structure to me, so I didn’t fully understand whether I was operating in the most efficient way and things got missed.

So I went with another accountant from Wexley who first of all, took the time to explain everything clearly, and helped me structure the business properly. Also guided me through operating as a limited company.
I now fully understand how my business works financially and feel confident that it’s set up efficiently and correctly. Less stress. Phew! And avoided fines !!!
