I have a 16tb MyBook Duo

I have a 16tb MyBook Duo. It happily worked on this computer under Windows 10. Now, I've upgraded to Windows 11 (same PC) and does not fully function, in particular, when you restart Windows 11. It loses connection. The only way it works is to unplug the power from the MyBook and restart it, then Win11 recognises it. It is a driver issue. Customer service was poor stating the issue was hardware or Win11. No accountability. They do not have drivers to update this unit nor a firmware update. The best solution they said was to replace it under warranty, which it still is, but this means sending my unit back (which partially works) along with all my valuable data. Crazy service and damn lazy approach to aftersales care. I have a Toshiba 8tb drive. No issues with this on upgrading Win11. I won't be buying WD in future.

Failed in under a year and no support

Bought a 2TB Extreme Portable SSD in September 2023. It failed in August 2024 (it has a 5 year warranty). To make a warranty claim you have to enter the details into their website. Claim failed because the website did not recognise the serial number (which I checked very closely). They do not respond to queries posted on their "Support" page of the website, and there are no European 'phone numbers to contact them directly.
I wish I had reviewed these reviews before I ordered the drive.
They should change their name to Western Disgustal.

Another warranty request with no solution

Another warranty request with no proper solution provided after almost a year. I was promised I would receive a new unit last year but then after several months they said it was not available and they would provide a refund. However the replacement cost is higher now and it’s been another few months to try and get a refund in my local currency so I can buy a replacement product in my location.

this is the worst treatment I've ever…

this is the worst treatment I've ever had from Western Digital I've just had 9 TB of Western Digital hard drives go wrong(one 5 terabyte I've never used, and 2.tb i had )couldn't contact the UK Western Digital with any of the phone numbers I found online (they didn't work or they were temporary unavailable)i decided to buy two 4tb terabyte hard drive new ones I am dyslexic so I find it very hard to type I asked the agent I spoke to ring me as it would be easier for me because I'm disabled (they didnt bother)I then found out that the hard drives were apparently delivered to my house at 10:03 this morning,so as you can imagine I'm severely panicking as I can't afford to lose any more money to Western Digital and the order vanished off my order page it turned out that it never left the Netherlands and got redelivered back to them so at the moment they still got my money and I've got no product so it's not as if I could go to a different company and order from them which will be more reliable

Company is responsible and helpful

We bought three NAS devices over the past 4 or 5 years. Two out of three have been running without errors for years.
The last one we got was defective right away. The company was easy to contact (Western Digital Support) and a technician determined the defect required an RMA. So they gave me a shipping label for a free return. They sent a replacement back in a reasonable timeframe.
So far it is working well and we are happy with the responsiveness of WD to help solve our issue with the NAS device.
The staff was polite and the company behaved responsibly when reported our hardware issues.

No Customer Support!!!!

I bought 3 WD Red Pro 20 Tb drives. All three went bad within a year. I started my RMA process on 7/5/24 and tracking shows they received them on 7/11/24. It's 7/23/24 and after chatting with them twice, and no less than 5-6 phone calls, I've been lied to at every opportunity. They lie about when they received my drives. Then they lied about not having any refurbished units to send me and said they would send me new ones. They lied about when they would send them, and are still lying about that. I'm currently on hold to speak with yet another supervisor after waiting 4 hours for a return call that was promised in 30-60 mins. I wish I had read these reviews before sinking a lot of $$ into WD drives. I'd be ok if the drives failed and I could get replacements, but the customer support is preposterous.

Western Digital Store purchase.

I purchased a new drive from the Western Digital store. The dive was improperly packed and was damaged when I received it. The whole RMA process was a complete nightmare. I will not be buying from their store any longer.

Failed - failed - and failed again

I bought this drive because of the good reviews on Amazon but I've gone through 3 of them in less than a year. When the third one failed I was frustrated enough to ask for a refund and I was told they would escalate that request after I provided some information. I was told I'd have an answer in 24-48 hours. 48 hours came and went so I ordered a competitors drive, not knowing if/when I'd ever hear from them. It took TEN days to hear that they will not honor my refund request, all they will do is give me a replacement. Again. The drive is well within the warranty period and they refuse to give me a refund. Why would I want another drive and go through that viscous cycle again? Their excuse is that I bought it from Amazon. They will only honor it if you bought it directly from them. Why have a warranty if you're not going to honor it? They still call a month later - at odd hours like 9:45PM on a Friday night, never use caller ID so you don't know it's them. Never again will I buy from Western Digital.

Frauds

Got the wrong. Canceled it before it shipped. Got a valid confirmation of cancelation email. They shipped the part anyway so I contacted them. They recalled the part and also kept my money. So they got their part and also my money. I have screenshots if proof is needed. I've escalated this to their supervisors Bryan, Rachel, and Scarlett. And even to their manager Chad. They are all aware of what they did. They told me " our hands our tied, there is no option to refund you". So I recommend you never buy from WesternDigital.com

Avoid, cancels

Order placed 26th June then cancelled by them 5 days later, same items dispatched to other people no problem, they then have the audacity to use my email to create a support account for the cancelled order by them, did not ask for this and will be reporting them.

I wish I would read the other reviews…

I wish I would read the other reviews about shipment and customer service first. Tried to purchase a 6T SSD, they disclosed a delivery date at checkout.
It has been massively delayed (2 months) by UPS. I already paid 50$ for getting the product in 2 days!!!!. They asked me to wait and get the product and send it back to them to have the refund in 10 days. They did not refund anything!!!!!!!
Save yourself some time and order a product from another manufacturer. It's a big headache. They are useless and the customer service is awful.

AVOID AVOID AVOID

This is a genuine review. Please please please do not purchase anything from Western Digital. You might be lucky to receive your goods. Refunds forget it. Long story short they don't refund you. Their RMA system is broken. Their customer support is shocking, they ignore emails. 1 month later no refund. I have clear evidence I have sent back my hard drive which runs like a sack of s**t. Please save yourself time and pain and shop with a decent company that shows their customers respect. I feel like I have been robbed. I think it's criminal that a company can operate like this in the UK.

Absolutely terrible fake*** plastic company.

My chainsaw cost me 200 Euros and has been serving me flawlessly for 5 years.

Your SD card was broken out of the box and has given me nothing but misery and headache.

DO NOT BUY THE EXTERNAL DRIVE PASSPORT…

DO NOT BUY THE EXTERNAL DRIVE PASSPORT IF YOU WANT TO KEEP YOUR DATA. I had all of my photos, videos, and documents on my external drive. One day it just STOPPED working out of the blue. Western Digital does nothing to help, other than point you to a data restoration service that's over $1,000. I had their customer service send me a new drive (which I had to pay for) that didn't show up even a week past what they said - until I called them and the drive magically shipped. Please save yourself the headache and heartache

Robbed by Western Digital. Stay away from them.

They dropped my high value parcel (worth $1,139 Canadian) by the front door with no signature requirement. It got stolen and I've been going back and forth with WD support who basically keeps saying to me "Tough luck for you! You're on your own."

Credit card wont accept insurance claim because to them, the item was merchant's responsibility to ensure I get the item (with signature on the high value parcel). Merchant took the risk of leaving parcel on the floor.

Poor customer service

The return process was very difficult. The emails took days to approve an RMA. Then when approved they do not pay for shipping back the defective product that was within warranty.

Thieves

Bought a hard drive on the Canadian website. Was sent from the US and no warning of duties. Drive was defective. Tested at a local shop and returned. I keep asking for full refund. They kept $30 dollars. I complained. Then $20. I complained. Today is call number 3. Only $10 more until my full refund.
I will never use a WD product again.
Thieves and terrible customer service.
What world do we live in where I could sell a defective item and just keep some of the money and say have a nice day?

DONT GO NEAR THESE GUYS. ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE

I wish I had read these reviews before buying from these guys. The drive failed after just a month. I lost all my data. I sent the drive back to them for a refund because it was still in warranty. They simply ignore emails. I keepo emailing them to get them to send me my replacement. The system they make you go through is agonisingly complex and tricky to generate a returns form. Now they have my drive and my money and have NEVER sent me my replacement. It has been MONTHS. And I needed that drive to work and I needed that data. I really urge you not to buy from these people or use theior products. I have been buying drives from them for about three years. I have bought 4 drives. 2 have failed and lost my data. So the product is unreliable. And their customer support afterwards is just offensive. They keep saying they will send a ereplacement drive then dont bother. It seems there is nothing I can do about it. They have just totally screwed me over. Stay well clear everyone.
